  • The BEST bathroom cleaning hack EVER!!!
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
The media could not be loaded. Have you ever used RainX products on your car’s glass surfaces? Well, this stuff is basically that, but for your bathroom’s glass (and other) surfaces. (And if you haven’t tried RainX on your car… I highly recommend you do. I live in WA. We tend to get a LOT of rain. RainX is awesome stuff!) I hate having to squeegee my shower. It’s also usually the last thing on my mind. I’m either running late and don’t have time to squeegee… or I’ve taken a long time unwinding and relaxing in a hot shower. When I get out… I want to wrap up in a soft robe, climb into bed, and sip some hot tea. I don’t want to squeegee the shower stall. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure! And when I don’t squeegee… a few months down the line and I’m scrubbing, trying to get rid of hard water stains. I’ve also found that even when I do squeegee regularly, I am still battling hard water stains. Meanwhile, the shower looks awful. We’ve been in this house for 7 years now. There are a lot of random niches for hard water stains to get missed over time. So, I started researching ways to be lazy and still have a clean bathroom. That’s when I stumbled on RainX for shower doors. Now, I won’t sugar coat it… it took me a while to apply the product per their directions, wait for it to dry, reapply it, let it dry again, and then buff it off the surface. (I’ve found if you apply it kind of liberally the first time… and give it sufficient time to dry… you won’t need to reapply it a second time - I’m lazy, y’all! I look for shortcuts!) I went all out! I put it every surface I could! The product does have a strong odor. I didn’t find it too overwhelming or too caustic. However, if you’re sensitive to odors or chemical smells… plan on using a mask. I kept the bathroom fans on and I was fine. It’s not difficult to remove, but it will take several passes. You just keep buffing in small circles… one area at a time… and then move on. It’s just like turtle waxing a car. Or The Karate Kid… wax on… wax off! And you can do more than just glass… I use it on my shower doors (inside and out) my shower surround, the bath tub, the sinks, the faucets (all the chrome), and especially the mirror. When you’re finished, you won’t have to squeegee… water just beads off surfaces. The tub is slow to develop a ring around it… and when it does… it very easily wipes off. The bathroom mirror will still fog up, but it’s MUCH quicker to clear up… and toothpaste splatter droplets just flake off when you barely touch them with a paper towel or microfiber cloth As evidenced in my video, if you end up with fingerprints or something else on your glass surfaces… just use a dry paper towel or microfiber cloth and polish whatever it is right off the surface! Using it on my shower surround and trim has prevented the accumulation of hard water stains. (See pic.) The best part? It lasts for 4-6 months with regular usage (two persons, occasional guests, and monthly doggo spa days). When I start to notice a decrease in how the water is beading up… I just reapply to that one area. Overall, the amount of time I spend applying the RainX is WAY LESS vs squeegeeing and having to do regular scrubbing to remove hard water stains, windexing the mirror, polishing chrome, etc. It makes my bathroom almost self-cleaning, which I absolutely LOVE! I do still break out my dish soap and vinegar filled dish soap scrubber and run it on the shower and tub floors, and in a few other areas. And to date, I haven’t discovered a self-cleaning toilet, so I still have to clean that… BUT… I won’t go back to the old method of scrubbing and squeegeeing! RainX is an all around great performing product! ... show more

  • Works very well
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Having read many reviews before I bought this, I was concerned about the application process and smell. Well to my surprise neither was all that bad. It does have some smell but it was definitely not overwhelming. It does however take a bit of elbow grease to apply! I had my husband come help and we took turns with the polishing process. Sort of made a game out of it. I of course complimented him on his strength and extraordinary polishing abilities which helped a lot. The glass we used it on is on a 5’ tall pony wall in our shower so it doesn’t get a hard spray from the shower, mostly just some light overspray. But ease of cleaning now is incredible! Just a swipe with a damp cloth followed by a swipe with my glass polish cloth and done! I have not had to reapply yet after two months. I imagine it might need more frequent applications if there were direct water spay on it though. ... show more

  • Time-Consuming, but it works
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
After I do the shower door cleaner product, which takes about 30 minutes, this water repellent product takes another half hour to apply and remove. You have to apply two coats of it before you can remove it. It works very well and lasts a month or so, but I don't like taking an hour to clean my shower doors. The smell is a little much. Just make sure you have good ventilation, and you should be fine. ... show more

  • I probably wouldn't bother again
Size: 16 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Pros: ? Cons: nasty fumes, vague instructions, makes it harder to squeegee, ruins acrylic, expensive Ever since we enclosed our shower with glass doors, I'd intended to try Rain-X. Now, after 15 or so years, I discovered Rain-X now markets a shower-door specific version, so I finally tried it. We're fortunate that our municipal water supply is very "soft." We don't really get any mineral build-up to speak of. After each shower, we squeegee the excess water off the doors, which minimizes the soapy film buildup until the next cleaning day. But Rain-X would make that even better, right? Well, I applied the product exactly as instructed. I first cleaned the doors with regular glass cleaner until they were crystal clear. I let them dry for at least an hour. Later, with the exhaust fan on and the window open, I was still nearly overcome by the fumes from the moment I sprayed the first bit onto my clean cloth. Through the entire process, I was coughing and gagging and my eyes were watering. If I ever do this again, I will wear a respirator. I had been warned about the fumes, but it was far worse than I'd anticipated. I applied the first coat, and waited for the hazy film to develop. The instructions don't give a sense of how long that will take--minutes? hours? days? I checked back several times but no haze seemed to develop. After a couple hours, upon very close scrutiny, I convinced myself the first door had the tiniest, slightest bit of haze. The second door still looked as clear as it had before I'd applied the Rain-X. I suffered through another respiratory fit to apply the second coat. After half of an hour or so, I could see a bit of haze on both doors. I buffed it off with a clean cloth and paper towels. We also had a small shower-safe mirror in our shower. It was supposed to be an anti-fog one, and, when it was new, this feature had worked, but the effect had worn off. I figured a fresh coat of a water repellent might help, so I applied it to the mirror as well. This was a mistake. The mirror is not glass, but acrylic, and the Rain-X seems to have etched rather than coated the surface of the mirror. I don't blank Rain-X for this because I was using the product outside the scope of its approved use. Just be aware that this stuff ruins acrylic. Things were definitely different during the next morning's shower. Instead of regular droplets of water collecting and the door and then running down in rivulets, a few tiny beads of water clung to the glass. But they were so small and so sparse, that they just stayed there. Had I not squeegeed, they would have quickly dried in place. But squeegeeing is now much more difficult. Before Rain-X, there was enough residual water on the door that the squeegee would glide efficiently down the glass, moving most of the water down toward the drain. With Rain-X, there are only a few tiny beads of water on the door, so the squeegee won't glide. Instead, it skips and stutters, leaving streak marks from the few beads it manages to collect. ... show more
