A unique, beautiful watch with a pedigree Rado might not be the first watch maker you think of when you’re naming Swiss automatic timepieces, but any watch fan would instantly recognize the Captain Cook. It’s a timeless dive watch that’s been reimagined for today’s size standards, but keeps all it’s classic lines. This design is around 60 years old at this point, showing its timeless nature. The face/case: Its 42m, and given its relative thickness, it actually wears incredibly comfortably. The face is quite modern with stick hour markers, and the lack of “integer” marks leaves it very understated. The timeless anchor at the 12 o’clock position is actually just attached superiorly, so it does change with the angle of your wrist! The bezel: I think the bezel is the scene stealer here. It’s absolutely beautiful, ceramic, and with a very unique inward angle, sloping towards the crystal. Its eye catching, with unidirectional movement. The blue is beautiful but I felt the green to be just eye popping, it somehow goes with everything! The strap/band: it comes with a very nice, adjustable (not micro adjustable though) steel bracelet. It appears almost beaded leading to a very comfortable feel and unique look. I love the quick release, and immediately bought the match Rado leather band with quick release attachment and buckle lock. The two swap out in seconds, immediately doubling the versatility of the piece. The movement: Automatic with EIGHTY HOURS (yes that’s twice many other swiss movements), has a screw down lock, and is water resistant to 200m. It’s just an understated, great looking watch. It doesn’t scream for attention, but the more you look, the more details come to life. With the rapid release bracelet, you can change your wardrobe daily, and with the nearly 4 DAY reserve, it’s the quality of an automatic without all the winding! I hope this review was helpful.     • Beautiful watch -- green is darker than expected
I love this watch -- it is a classic with a retro and sporty vibe. While it is 44 mm in diameter and is billed as a "men's watch", it is more compact than most Apple and smart watches so it can easily be worn by women -- particularly paired with a couple of silver bracelets. I love that that it is easy to read and love the subtle green look -- again, different and a bit more "feminine" that a traditional black face. That being said, the green is darker than I expected it to be. The bracelet makes it very comfortable to wear. The bracelet is weighty enough to balance the face -- but not to heavy to weigh your arm down. This is a terrific classic watch and can be great for men or women -- professional enough to dress up or casual enough for every day. Really love this watch. [LCVR] ... show more
