I got these as an early Mother's Day gift from my husband, as I'm enjoying hiking very much these days and wanted to try a supportive pair of boots/shoes to hike in, and these were the right price point. I took them out of the box and put them on, and right away my aching feet feel better. The insoles are fantastically cushy without sacrificing support, and the boots come with an extra pair (which will be great when they eventually start to stink, as shoes do). They also come with an extra set of braided laces, which are thick and definitely feel strong enough to be pulled tight and tied time and time again. I haven't done more than quick walks in these yet, so I'll update my review later, but at first blush, these are well worth the price for a novice hiker who just needed a new pair of supportive and comfortable boots.

Contrary to the description, the R Cord hiking shoes are NOT "true to size". While the toe & width are perfect, the heel area is too loose - I can feel the heel of my foot with socks on sliding slightly up & down while I walk. For decades, I've always worn a size 9. Another reviewer recommended going a half-size smaller. I agree. But sadly, they don't offer an 8 1/2 for the gray-style shoes. So Yes, I'm the THIRD reviewer here to comment on the loose heel area. // Despite the sizing problem, these hiking shoes are comfortable, rugged and great looking. The thick soles also make you at least 1 & 1/4-inches taller. And at $19.99, they APPEAR to be an incredible value - but not if they don't fit properly. EDIT 1: I returned the Men's gray shoes (size 9) for Men's green shoes (size 8.5), which fit like a glove. The green-style shoes cost a bit more, but I'm happy with the upgrade. Also, the shoe style is very different. So look very closely at the photos to see the differences. EDIT 2: Strange. I notice the R Cord "Men's" listing has now been changed to "Women's" shoes (late May 2023). So my above review is only for the MEN'S shoes. Also, the shoe styles have completely changed. R Cord should really just create a NEW & SEPARATE LISTING whenever they introduce a new type of shoe - so that the old reviews match the original shoes listed. Otherwise, these older reviews will confuse future consumers.

They are really good looking and great tread. Came with extra shoelaces and insoles bonus. They feel good. I haven't been in the weather so can't comment on the water proof.

The media could not be loaded. The quality of these boots is amazing!! I’ve already used them couple times to hike here in Colorado in really hard trails and I love the support and comfort they give me. I have an injury in my ankle and I’ve been always afraid of not getting the support that I need for that when I’m hiking…. With this boots it’s not anymore an issue!!

Love the style and colors. The shoe is comfortable. However, the reviews are not accurate. This shoe does not run big in the heel area. I do feel it actually runs a half size small. I wear a true 7.5 and never go up to size 8. This boot feels comfortable in the heel, but runs narrow I the upper foot. I will break mine in, with hope to have them stretch out in the bunion area. 👌

I'm giving this a 3 only because it didn't fit my foot, they were too loose in the mid section, the next size down would have been way too tight. From what I could tell in the few minutes I had them on they seemed to be well constructed and I was sorry they didn't fit. It's hard to buy shoes online but there wasn't much available in the local stores and they were all very expensive. I only need these for a short trip and maybe a couple of wearing after that.
