Even though the black ink dust is messy , it was great fun for my little traveled under age 10 and even the adults over 40 to pick a size and get scratching while we were on the go - the stencils started off some great fun ideas and creations. I got these scratch pads for kids ages 2-7 who enjoy drawing. I liked that it came with multiple books in different sizes, which allows these to be used at home, in the car, and on the go. They can easily fit in a purse, backpack, etc. I really liked that it also came with several accessories including stencils, a brush for removing the scratch debris, as well as an entire pack of scratch sticks. As kids can be prone to losing things, it is very handy to have several backup sticks!

I gifted this to a 7 year old; they really enjoyed it. They did not care for the black residue on their hands but washed it off and kept on creating masterpieces. The kit comes with lots of stencils and paper. I did not price replacement paper and did not research if you can use regular paper. The set came nicely packaged and was a great surprise for the child.
