  • Installation not that hard. Wireless controller, not so easy.
Not that hard to install if your handy. I got the wireless controller so I didn't have to fish a line to a hard wired wall switch. However, installation & pairing was a little tricky. I Highly recommend putting the fan module on a work bench & installing/testing it there before lugging it up into the attic. Pay close attention to your unit number. I initially wired for a ES5400, no joy, then I realized I had a CL5400. The DIP switch settings on the module are different for various units. All of the DIP pics look the same with all in off position. Small print above tells you proper on or off setting. They could have done better with their pics. Rushing through the first time, I just looked at the pic which normally shows proper setting, and set them all to off....nothing worked. Also, unplug the unit before you set the proper DIP switch setting, or it won't "take." When pairing the blue tooth, be patient. It took me several tries because there is a significant delay between pushing buttons and the pairing mode. Finally when paired, it worked great. Make sure you read the 3.1 operating section before you test the remote. I didn't. It turned into a giant paper blower & shredder in my shop before I figured out how to turn it off. Hint...it won't turn on until you hit the fan speed button first, and then the timer button, (expect up to a 1 sec delay). If you don't want it on for a full hour, (minimum timer), you need to repeatedly push the timer button until all upper light flash, push again, then they go out, then push one more time. Bottom line, the unit itself is wonderful. Great airflow, I don't think I'll ever use the full 1 hour minimum. I've had 2 other houses with whole house fans, and this is by far the quietest, actually quieter than our central air system. Highly recommend the product. ... show more

  • Good investment
Style: CL-5400 RF
I wish I had bought this years ago but a wife in menopause forced my hand. If I had bought this last spring, my ROI would be half met. Downloaded manual and watched installation video. Installed in four hours, including electrical work to add an outlet in the attic and a trip to the hardware store. Fan fit through cut out easily. I installed it alone. It can actually cool the house below outside temperature. Not sure how, but I'm not complaining! Wireless RF remote paired easily. It works well and is fairly quiet. I think it could replace my AC in my climate. 1900 sq ft with same size garage/basement. ... show more

  • One of the Best Home Upgrades We’ve Made
Style: CL-5400 RF
This fan changed everything. The first night we used it, I couldn’t believe how quickly it pulled in the cool evening air and pushed all that trapped heat out. Within minutes, the entire house felt noticeably cooler—and we hadn’t even touched the A/C. It’s also surprisingly quiet for how powerful it is. You can hear it running, but it’s more of a soft hum than the roar I expected. Setup was simple, and the wireless remote makes it super easy to control from anywhere in the house. Now we just crack open a few windows in the evening, turn the fan on, and enjoy fresh, cool air without cranking the thermostat. I truly can’t recommend this enough. If you’re tired of stuffy rooms, high bills, or overworked air conditioners, this fan is 100% worth it. It’s not just a fan—it’s peace of mind, comfort, and savings all in one. ... show more

  • Highly recommend it. Happy I bought it.
Quiet cool arrived with no package issues, no damage and no missing parts. I Installed it with a friend. I feel it is impossible to do alone. It took all of 3 hours with two people having never done it before. After a day of use, the resonance coming from the vent was extremely painful to listen to upstairs. Even on low, it was annoying. I spent the following day, adding flexible plastic molding under the vent tube to help keep its shape. The strap they give you is so thin, it creases the tube and bends it. You can see from the photo I circled in red. I thought that’s what was making all the noise. It wasn’t. So I gave up. I was really disappointed with the product. The next day, I read all of the reviews searching for someone to comment on it. Finally, one reviewer said the resonance was annoying and he mounted the fan so the entire tube had no accordion to it. He associated the sound with an organ pipe. I thought, that’s it!!! So I mounted the fan one more rafter further from the vent. As you can see from my first photo, there is no more accordion to the vent tube. I also took out the 90 degree angle to it. I do have two straps on it spaced apart with my flexible plastic molding over the strap to help keep the vent tube shape round. Sure enough, that did the trick. Super quiet on High and Low speed. I couldn’t believe it! I also bought Denim Insulation R19 with sound barrier from Lowe’s. I put that under the entire fan installation. Insulation is blue. Wow, it made a huge difference in the bedroom. I can no longer hear the fan running above our bedroom. Made the entire installation even more quiet. Ceiling vent install looks seamless and turned out fantastic. Vent template they give you worked great. I also bought the quiet cool wireless remote. I didn’t want to run wires through the wall. The cool thing about the remote is, it detaches from the wall mount and you can take it with you anywhere in the house, then return it to the wall mount. It works more than 100 feet from the fan. You can install it where ever you want. I highly recommend buying that with your quiet cool purchase. Wireless remote has a high and low setting. Also has 1,2,4,8,12 hour timer. I gave it 4 stars because of the nonsense I went through to figure out what was creating the resonance coming from the vent. The resonance coming from my vent sounded like the space shuttle starting to lift off the launch pad after ignition. The rumble was that loud, I’m not joking. 🙄 After all of that, I’m super impressed with the quiet cool whole house fan. We live 65 North of San Francisco. Our house is two stories with a tile roof and minimal venting. We don’t have air conditioning. Nights are cool, so the quiet cool is turned on from 5-8 pm. Quickly gets the house to the outside temp within about 15-20 minutes. I hope this helps, if you find your quiet cool rumbles a little after you install it. ****After 2 weeks of use. Realized the quiet cool was pressurizing my attic due to my 30 year old home poor attic ventilation. Air was flowing into leaks in my heating ducts and flowing back into the house through the ceiling vents. We were breathing recycled attic air. Now I have a heating company installing all new ducts, removing insulation and improving ventilation. In summary, the Quiet Cool works so well, prior to purchase, I suggest to take a serious look at your attic ventilation. Consider gable fans to assist with the air exhaust. Quiet Cool air will not find its way out of the gable vents. Path of least resistance is where the air will go. Ducting, Ceiling Vents, walls, outlets, light switches, ceiling lights. It was so bad, three of my upstairs smoke detectors went off. Quiet Cool is impressive. It will expose weaknesses in your house if you don’t vent it properly. A Huge FYI! ... show more
