    • Everything You Need To Install a M.2 Drive At a Great Price
TL;DR: A great kit and a great value with a few small issues for a small number of users. --- I bought this kit primarily for the heatsink. I was installing a M.2 drive and was not sure if I needed a standoff or a M.2 screw (My M.2 slot is covered completely by my vertically installed graphics card.) As it turned out, my board already had the standoff and M.2 screw installed. I was not expecting that as my motherboard is very old (A MSI X99S Gaming 7, purchased in 2014.) Even though I did not need the fasteners, it was a great insurance policy; I absolutely did not want to have to wait to install my new drive. The magnetic screwdriver was extremely handy; you do not want to drop a tiny metal object into your already built PC. Aside from getting a new M.2 screw, there is the danger of the screw being irretrievable and potentially creating a hardware destroying short. Of course, if you are working with a new motherboard in a new build, you are probably going to install your M.2 drive outside of your chassis, but it is still handy to have the magnetic screwdriver in case you need to swap out your M.2 drive after your build is complete. The thermal pad is of acceptable quality. It is soft and stretchy. I was able to fit it onto my drive, but it almost stretched to the point where there was excess pad sticking out of one end of the drive. I did not care if this happened, because I will never see the drive again, as it was completely obscured by my graphics card after the installation was complete. However, if you are planning on having your M.2 drive visible in your build, you may want to have an Exacto knife or small pair of scissors handy during your M.2 install in case you have excess pad like I did. The heatsink is probably sufficient for most to all use cases if you have sufficient room for air flow around your M.2. However, if you are planning on heavy duty use of your M.2 drive and have a more power hungry M.2 drive and/or restricted airflow, you may want to buy a different heatsink. Even so, I feel this kit is worth the money just for the screws, standoffs, magnetic screwdriver, and thermal pad that is included. The little rubber bands are a light shade and may distract aesthetically, but they are fine for me. But you should consider this carefully before buying if looks are a factor for you. The rubber bands are necessary for a proper install. The thermal pad is only a little sticky and a low lever of pressure against the pad is necessary for proper heat conductivity, so do not skip them. To get everything you need to install an M.2 drive for less than some vendors want just for the M.2 screw is a great value. You even get two different sizes of standoffs to cover just about every installation scenario. The only negative for this kit is that it does not cover the case where your M.2 drive has components on both sides. This is usually not a problem, but if your drive is power hungry, is used continuously, has retricted airflow, etc, you may want to consider a two sided solution. I tested my drive a good bit after installation. This included an extended torture test. My drive never got even near the thermal throttle point. I think this heatsink will work for most users, but I will caution that my drive is fairly power efficient, so you may not want to take my word on this. In summary, I highly recommend this kit to just about everyone. If you have any of the potential issues I listed above, you may still benefit from this kit; just consider carefully before buying. ... show more

The silicon pads are very fragile. Don't rub them or they'll break apart. They're sticky enough to bond the heat sink to your M.2 SSD perfectly. I'm very glad they provide two in the package.

    • Ssd kit(cheap quality) that includes useful part
So you bought a ssd and the you don't have the screw and so you have no choice but to buy a screw and this is among the cheapest kits you can buy. You are basically paying 5 dollars for a one cent screw; although that is not the fault of the company selling this kit. This kit includes several screws, a screw driver, a "heatsink" and pivots. I was going to give this kit 3 dollars because its all really low quality, the heatsink is basically junk and I would not recommend using it. The screw driver is really cheap too but at least you get a screw driver. The reason I am giving this kit 4 stars is because it includes "custom studs". At first when I looked at these I thought they were defective because it doesn't have an end to screw anything with, just a hole. However what these studs are for is to place on a hole in your motherboard and then you screw a screw into the top hole. The reason this exist is because on some motherboards(like mine) there is only one stud for one size of ssd and the other studs dont exist but there is a hole in the motherboard corresponding to a number(size of ssd) where you can put the custom stud in. Hence with this you can install any ssd size if your motherboard does not have all the studs(although it seemed a little flimsy). Since this kit includes this essential part which I would not have been able to install the ssd otherwise I am giving it 4/5 stars. ... show more
