These are put together nicely from durable feeling materials, particularly the hypalon straps with accompanying metal hardware. I was able to get a good fit that stayed in place during movement and I like the use of velcro at both the top and bottom which gives more flexibility in fit than belt-style buckles and preferable to drawstrings which haven’t held up well in my experience. All of the strap areas are reinforced where they connect to the body and the construction quality overall is good with no loose threads or sloppy sewing. The main material is thick enough to provide a bit of extra warmth and insulation but it’s not thick enough to stop snake bites or stings; you’ll need some shin guards for that, which is an area that could perhaps be improved a bit with internal panels. I like the camo pattern quite a bit, which is a refreshing change from the overused generic RealTree patterns I kept seeing and never really cared for too much. The fabric is water-resistant in some quick testing, perhaps waterproof minus full submersion, although the straps do soak through but it didn’t affect the fit. I don’t really have any complaints about these, they do what they’re supposed to do preventing debris and water from getting into my hiking shoes and exceeded my expectations.

First, there are two tweaks that I'd like to see to make these gaiters perfect. One is some additional adjustability at the top. These gaiters fit perfectly EXCEPT for that I needed to be able to tighten the top strap (right under the knee) more than was possible... women tend to have smaller calf circumferences than men and we could really use another inch or two of adjustability at this location. The gaiters are stiff enough that I didn't have any issue with them falling down, but it was just loose enough to be a bit distracting. The other tweak is that I'd like to see a loop or something that you could stick the excess plastic strap through to hold it down. I'm talking about the plastic strap that goes underneath the shoe. After securing it, the remainder of the strap length sticks straight up... and I had enough extra strap that the ends fell slightly to the sides -- which means that the strap ends from each gaiter kept hitting against each other as I walked, which was annoying. A little elastic strap that you could tuck the strap ends under to secure them against your leg which fix this. Sitting aside those two tweaks, I did really like this gaiters. I haven't tested them in snow yet, just mud (halfway through January and we still haven't had a snow fall!). The velcro on the front side is very strong and I really liked the additional velcro strap at the bottom. The plastic strip that goes under the foot seems like an improvement over the fabric strap on my old gaiters, which was also getting mud-logged and eventually tore. This plastic straps seem pretty durable so I'm hoping that they hold up to the terrain over multiple years. The fabric is stiff but flexible enough to walk in comfortably - and it helps keep the lower legs from getting snagged on briars.

OK, after deleting the right pictures and uploading the wrong ones I will try to get this review right. I am a med/large for most items (size 10 shoes and boots) and I was very unsure about these in XL size. They seem to run a little small in size since they barely fit me in my light insulated coveralls. They do work pretty well for me over Jeans and insulated boots other than the top fastener is not very tight at the top. They will not go on over my heavy coveralls even in shorter insulted boots. So, if you are my size and want something that will help when your heavy gear is on the size may be an issue. I have now taken these out for several extended walks and they are comfortable and stay in place. They do seem pretty quiet even when walking through heavy weeds and resisted burrs better than my coveralls. They do add a layer of protection mainly from the wild rose bushes and briars and kept my boots and coveralls dry. I have not been able to try them out in snow yet but feel confident they will keep the snow out of my boots and off my laces. I like this product. They seem to be well designed and manufactured Suggestions: An elastic or pull fastener at the top would allow more flexibility for leg/calf size and a proper fit at the top. Not sure about the size listing. The XL I received seemed more of a large at most.

I really like these. They are quiet, they secure well and they do a great job of keeping my legs dry. I live in the PNW and the damp can be a challenge. These are really helpful for extending the comfort of my outdoor time.
