In a nutshell - the umbrella is great. So glad we got it. We live on the Columbia River facing south/southwest across from a wildlife refuge, so we need some shade but I didn't want anything that would permanently block the view. Also, we're near the mouth of the famously windy Columbia Gorge, so any umbrella would have to be extra stable, even when closed (I've lost several tall, heavy potted plants). This umbrella hit every mark. 1. As you can see from the photos, when the umbrella is closed, it's out of view. 2. I can sit outside now and find shade any time of day by changing the angle of the umbrella. 3. My engineer husband laughed at me when I said we ought to move it to the side of the house to be safe when the big winds come. He said that the umbrella is going nowhere when closed. We had some 15 mph gusts the other day when I was sitting outside, and there was some minor movement at the top, but nothing to be concerned about. Assembly and operation: My son put it together on his own, pretty intuitively; however, he's 6'5". If you don't have the height, It would be pretty difficult without two people. Now that it's assembled, it's very easy for me to put up and down and change the angle. We got the moveable base because I wanted to be able to adjust the location to shade the table or the seating area. However, we filled it to the max with sand and water for maximum stability, so it's big and it's HEAVY. My son and husband can move it. I (a fit 135 lb, 5'5" woman) cannot. Customer service suggested we take some of the sand out and put a couple of sandbags on top instead. We'll do that before next season.

I purchased this umbrella to cover most of the patio which has two sides up against the house. I was concerned that there would not be enough room to open it without having to move furniture each time. No need to worry. The tilting feature makes it easy to open, even in cramped spaces. It was easy to put together and included everything needed to mount it on the Purple Leaf underground base I purchased for it. It works great and looks really nice. Once fully open, it sways a bit more than I would like when it gets breezy, but I doubt any similar umbrellas that size would be any different. Customer service was great. I reached out a few times with questions and received a prompt, friendly response each time. It's always nice to get help from support based in the US.

I bought the Purple Leaf 10x12 beige patio umbrella for my backyard, and I absolutely love it! It’s big, elegant, and instantly makes the whole patio feel like a resort. The beige color is classy and goes perfectly with my outdoor furniture. It adds that calm, relaxing vibe I wanted. The quality feels premium. The canopy fabric is thick and gives great shade, and the UV protection really helps on hot sunny days. The crank and tilt system works smoothly, and I like that I can easily adjust the angle as the sun moves. It’s also super easy to rotate when I need to cover a different area. When it’s open, it looks stunning — very sturdy and high-end. Customer service from Purple Leaf has been great too. This Purple Leaf 10 ft umbrella is AMAZING!! We were blown away when we opened it!! Huge, covers our patio, blocks the sun from every angle. Well made, sturdy, color exactly as pictured Easy to open, easy to close, easy to move from side to side. Open it all the way or to suit your need. Can you tell I absolutely love it ? We looked at the one they install for thousands, no need to spend that money. This one is much better easier cheaper.

I bought this 9' square offset umbrella in turquoise blue PLUS the base. I ALSO bought the 10' round offset umbrella in turquoise blue PLUS the base. ALL from Purple Leaf. Yes- well made looking and very attractive. I spent a lot of money buying all these things. The square umbrella was placed onto my patio and the round umbrella onto my deck. I was hoping to have both umbrellas match in color but they did not. One was very much light in color than the other. Nice turquoise blue colors otherwise so I kept both. The bases, by the way, were very solid and nice looking. I have a lot of sun in the back so these will come in very handy. I already knew how to put these units together as I was replacing an old offset umbrella but I felt the instructions given could have been a little more explanatory. Also in the instructions, it mentions there being a foot pedal to hold the umbrella in place once you rotate it to a desired location. There is no foot pedal. Old instructions. As for the bases, I took my time and filled them with sand. There's 2 holes in the top of the bases to do this. Holes are not centered however so I used a blower in the holes to try and move the sand to all spots. It would have been better if a total of 4 holes were provided at the top for doing this chore to evenly spread the sand into it. So getting the sand to all parts was very hard. Besides, I plan on leaving these in the same location through out the winter. Just cover them up. One thing I did not like was that when I ordered these 2 umbrellas and the 2 bases, it would have been nice if an option was offered to buyers like me: In the umbrella boxes it also contains a set of metal base bars (for people who do not purchase the bases). These base bars are used to bolt the unit down to a deck, for example. It's useless for me, however, because I purchased the bases. I'm stuck with these base bars and yet, had to purchase them with the umbrellas. Purple Leaf should have offered the option of removing these and reducing the price if a person purchases the separate bases at the time of sale. The bases that I purchased, by the way, have the built in bars already installed, so ... but I think these umbrellas are all packed and boxed the same in the factory. But again, if you're purchasing the separate bases, then these other base bars contained in the box are useless. Waste of money. Umbrellas also come with a cover. It looks pretty nice. There are wheels under the base by the way-just on one side. Impossible to move unit once it's filled. Also- before trying to open the umbrella up, you have to look inside it as they used Styrofoam and tape to pack the prongs up. The instructions don't tell you to remove them before hand and you're trying to open the umbrella only to discover they're inside the umbrella so you have to try and reach in and up to cut them out. But nice umbrellas. NOT waterproof. The first thing written in the instructions tells you this. For the money I spent, I think it should have been waterproofed.

Apologies for the length of this review. This is my second Purple Leaf Umbrella (10ft square Patio Cantilever Windproof Offset and Heavy Duty). The first is still in service (different size and model).It arrived in a very timely fashion and there was no damage in transport. Setup was straightforward and I only needed my wifes help for about 5 minutes to align and lift the main structural support and canopy. The design is very good and the manufacturing of that design is solid and precise. I also got the PURPLE LEAF Offset Patio Umbrella Base with Wheels, Sand/Water Filled Square for the added weight/stability and mobility. I filled the base with 200 lbs of sand and had two additional external sandbags filled with an additional 40lb each. The base itself is about 65lbs. For a total of 345 lbs. The rest of the story….. on the second day it was deployed, dead calm, I was working in its shade…. 6 feet away from the base. A slight puff of wind and I turned to check on it. Perfectly stable. Turn back to my tasks and a second larger “puff” (I guestimate not more than 15-20 mph - welcome to the mountains ) and by the time I turned around to check, it had blown over and landed on the deck handrails. The damage to the umbrella was two 6 inch tears in two panels. To be fair, this is a second level of a two level deck structure and it is not as protected from winds and the 1 first level, however, I have not had a problem like this in the past. Contacted customer service ([email protected]) and had my initial reply within 24 hours. Alex was my contact from start to finish. He asked for more details and a couple of pictures. The next day he confirmed that they would replace fabric and it would be sent immediately. From first contact till the new fabric arrived was one week. Recommended actions were to fill the 4 base water tanks with an antifreeze/water mixture (3/7 ratio). This action alone would increase the base weight by 150lbs, bringing the entire base weight with the two extra sand bags to just shy of 500lbs. That should do it. Customer service was polite, responsive and straight forward. This was an excellent customer service experience. Thank you Alex

I almost never write reviews, but I had to for this because Purple Leaf went above and beyond. Their customer service was outstanding. But, first, the product itself. This is the second Purple Leaf cantilevered umbrella we've purchased. The quality is terrific, especially at the price point. The pole is strong and solid. The fabric is strong, durable, and attractive. This does not look cheap at all. Everything is high-end. All of the mechanisms work well. And based on our first umbrella, these are very durable, even with strong sun and wind. It takes some effort to assemble it, but it is very do-able. The instructions are above-average; they could include more precision and guidance. We made a couple of mistakes, but they were easy to correct. The 9x11 cantilevered umbrella we ordered does not come with a cover. It's worth the investment to buy one separately. (It also doesn't come with a base, so you'll have to order that as well. Again, even taking into consideration these separate purchases, this is still a great value for a top-end patio umbrella. We can't recommend this strongly enough.) The real amazing thing about this purchase, however, was the customer service. Everything went incredibly smoothly, and Purple Leaf's customer service repeatedly checked in on the process to make sure everything was moving along properly. Bravo to Purple Leaf!
