  • Excellent choice for certain situations
Color: US Flag / Star
This is my first “air conduction” headphones purchase, and I’m honestly impressed. I’m used to either traditional earbuds or noise-canceling over-ear phones, so this was a new experience for me. Here are my impressions: Very comfortable. Since this sits gently over your ear and not inside it or covering it completely, this is something you can barely tell you’re wearing if you’re not paying attention to it. It’s lightweight and no matter how much I shook my head around, it did not move one bit. This would be *perfect* for runners or people doing a lot of physical activity while listening to music. Sound quality is very good. You get a full range of low and high tones with great clarity for an inexpensive audio accessory. I listened to several types of music and spoken word podcasts and was satisfied with the quality on everything. Since this is basically a speaker hovering over the opening of your ear, this is not the sort of thing you’d wear in a setting where privacy or staying quiet is a concern. Others around you can hear it clearly if the room is very quiet. But by the same token, if someone wants to have a conversation with you while you’re wearing this, you don’t need to take it off or pause your music or even turn it town if you want to hear them, in most cases. I see this as helpful around the house or out on a walk or run, just not in a quiet classroom or a library. You can remain situationally aware of your surroundings while going about your business, and carry on a normal conversation with someone else without shouting or needing them to shout for you to hear them clearly, all while keeping your music going. Amazon is asking me to rate its noice cancellation quality, so I’d give it two stars on that “metric” in the text here, but it’s not meant to be a noise-cancelling headset, so I’m leaving that one blank on the review stars. I’ll say battery life is good, although I have not used it enough to drain it completely yet. But I got a couple hours of use out of it straight out of the box, and it was 80% full according to my phone when I first powered it up. A couple hours later, it was still reading 70% on my battery widget. When I first opened it up, I was a little confused that there were two charging cables. My knee-jerk reaction to that was “wow that’s stupid, you have to charge the two sides separately???” But that’s incorrect. They just give you an extra charging cable (and the user guide mentions this), which is a really nice move on their part because this requires an unconventional charging cable. That’s probably the only “ding” I can think of on the design here - would prefer to make it work with standard USB C or wireless charging, but if you’re going to force a proprietary charging format, providing two cables out of the gate is a very nice move so you can have a backup or keep one in the two most frequent places you’ll use it. Overall - I’d definitely recommend this for anyone who has comfort issues with earbuds or over-ear headphones. Or for people who have a hard time with earbuds fitting them properly - whether they fall out a lot or are too big, etc - because this hangs perfectly over the top of your ear. It’s not super adjustable, so this is a “one size fits most” sort of situation, but it did fit me perfectly without issue. The user manual says to “adjust” the fit when you put it on, but I honestly couldn’t find any way to move or rotate the speaker pods in any permanent way. There is some flex in it, but it just sort of bounces back to normal if you try to move it. So although you could get a more “immersive” experience if you can situate it in a way that it fully fills your outer ear area, I don’t think it’s all that adjustable. wasn’t an issue for me though. In my case, I tried it out and then passed it along to our 15-year old daughter because she has a hard time finding earbuds she likes (and she’s prone to losing them). Since these are attached to one another by the band that wraps around the back of your head, I'm confident we won’t have that issue with this one. Everybody wins! ... show more

  • My new "everyday" speakers
Color: Black/Black
I bought these speakers to have an additional pair for gym. Interestingly they have become my new "goto" speakers. For comparison, my previous go to speakers were Galaxy Buds 2 ($100+). I am using these headphones with my Samsung (Andriod) phone. Pros: - Price: You just can't really beat them. I am so much less worried about loosing them. Also, compared to buds 2, these speakers are bigger and thus harder to loose. (but they feel smaller, see below). - Sound quality: The quality of open air headphones, including noise cancellation, will be never as good as the closed ones. You need to know this before buying any open air headphones. I mainly use these to listen to audiobooks, where the quality is almost the same. The have been using them around the house to listen to music while doing chores, and the quality is better then using my google home speakers for music (but not as good as buds 2, but see below). I also used them for phone calls and again the quality was similar to buds 2. - Ease of use: This is where these ones beat buds 2 with a huge margin. These are super easy to put on and take off (no box to open...). They feel really light, and don't press the inside of ears like buds 2 does. I sometimes forget that they are on. I took them while doing grocery shopping, and again, I would prefer them over buds 2 for this task. They are more noticeable by others, and I felt more aware of surroundings while wearing these. The same is true when I am doing house chores: My kids have an easier time knowing that I am listening to something + I feel I can still keep an "ear" on them with these. There is no heavy charging box to carry, or risk loosing the charging box in some other room. Even though these are bigger than buds 2, they "feel smaller" when you are carrying them, perhaps due to lack of multiple parts (3 in buds 2 vs 1 with these) and combined weight of all those parts. - Charge: They hold the charge for a decent time. I never felt the anxiety that they are going to run out of charge for everyday activities (but see below). - Pairing: As soon as one turns them on, they go into pairing mode unless one of the previously paired device is close by. This is sooo useful and i wonder why other expensive headphones don't do the same. - Controls: When I first got them, I thought the controls for play/pause/etc. were harder compared to buds 2, but that was just muscle memory. After using them for a day, I got used to the new controls. These have 2 physical buttons, which are so much more easier to push with sweaty or wet hands (e.g. when I am doing dishes). All these pros were good enough for these headphones to displace buds 2 as everyday headphones. Now for my gripes/wishlist: Cons: - Charging: I need to carry an additional cable to charge these. This is perhaps the biggest con compared to buds 2 that can charge with USB C (same as my phone). These come with two charging wires, which makes things better: I keep one at work, and the other one at home. However, when I travel, I will have to carry additional wires. - Lack of on ear detection: With buds 2, the music will stop when you take them off. Not so much here. Also, the turn on/off sound for these headphones is loud (perhaps to make sure one can hear it even if the headphone is off). I would have preferred the loud sound when they are off, and a prompt in lower volume when they are on. I have now gotten used to turning them on/off without wearing them. ... show more

  • Great with a few minuses
Color: Black/Black
I'm quite happy with this headset - I use these for work and for leisure listening and works well for both. Great for phone work with good volume and great clarity. The fit is pretty snug around the neck when between calls, and while the wire at the back doesn't allow for great use while lying down it's great for when I'm in my big easy chair. That being said, they are my go to headset for everyday use. Great usb connectivity. Tough and durable. Charge lasts most of the day (I haven't measured it) but it needs a fair bit of time to re-charge. I'm not thrilled that it has the weird charge cable, but it works well. I'm glad they sent two because I lost the first one in less than a week. So there's that. In the future they should change out to USB-C charging. Keep up, guys! ... show more
