I've tried several dog foods over the years, and this Purina Pro Plan Salmon and Rice formula has been one of the most successful. My dogs get excited when it's feeding time and have continued to eat it enthusiastically long after the "new food" excitement wore off. The shredded pieces mixed with the kibble seem to make a big difference. My dogs always go after the shredded bits first, and the combination gives the food a little more variety than standard kibble alone. I've also been pleased with how well they tolerate it. Digestion has been consistent, stools have been good, and the added probiotics are a nice feature. Their coats look healthy, and they maintain good energy levels. Purina Pro Plan is the only food my dog actually enjoys! I have a German Shorthaired Pointer and he has such an expressive personality. He will let us know if something is good or bad to him. He absolutely loves the real salmon chunks in this food! Itās a good mix between soft and crunchy. The smell is there like any other dog food, but I donāt think itās exaggerated at all. This food line is more pricey than generic brands, but I honestly think itās worth it. Itās one of the most researched dog foods out there, and I feel more comfortable giving my dog a food that is trusted. Definitely recommend!

The best!
We switched to this dog food because it came highly recommended by our wonderful vet. I started noticing positive changes in our dogs within the first week. We have a 5 year old basset hound and a 10 year old cur mix, and they both absolutely love this food. This was a relief because one of them can be a bit picky, and both have sensitive stomachs. Since switching to Purina Pro, Iāve observed several significant improvements in both of them. Within a few weeks, they appeared healthier overall, with a noticeable increase in their energy levels. I believe this is because they are now getting the full range of nutrients they need to be happy, healthy pupsānutrients that aren't typically found in most dry dog foods. One of the most important improvements I noticed is their consistency with bowel movements. It used to vary from day to day between the two of them, but now their overall gut health has become much better and more predictable. This consistency allows me to easily identify and monitor any abnormalities so that if something is wrong or they arenāt feeling well, I can address the issue quickly. Previously, it was challenging to determine if something was wrong because their digestive health varied from day to day, along with their gas and bowel movements. I can't recommend this food enough! My dogs are literally like my children, so I have very high expectations for everything that involves themāeven the smallest details. So its safe to say, if my dogs are consuming this food and Iām satisfied enough to come here and write this positive review, which has somehow turned into a novel, then you should absolutely be feeding this to your pups. They deserve it and itās worth every penny. -The only negative point worth mentioning is that the salmon and rice flavor has a bit of a pungent smell. If you're sensitive to odors, you might want to choose a different flavor. It hasn't been an issue for anyone in my house, but my best friend had to switch flavors while she was pregnant, so I thought it was worth mentioning.
