My breeder is a field trial trainer and highly recommended this particular brand and blend. I have fed my boy this food since he was a puppy and his coat and overall health has been very good. If you are a hunter who trains and runs his dog hard this food seems to be just what you need.

This dog food has been the only thing I have fed for years. Between our local pet supply shop and Amazon it's been a staple at our home. I have it on my Amazon subscription list, and with a few exceptions, it is always delivered on time. The issue is that this is large and heavy. It typically comes poorly packaged and about a quarter of the time the box is busted open with the bag spilling out. About half of those bags have developed holes and have dog food pouring out of them. One one occasion the delivery driver didn't put the box inside my screened in porch and raccoons were having Thanksgiving dinner when I came home from work that day. Update: We have now used this for 8 years. She is going to be 9 in just a few months. Still has a ton of energy - no one believes she is this age, until they see her slightly greying muzzle. No complaints! Update: We have now used this for 5 years...everything below still applies. She’s about to turn 6 years old and still super healthy with the energy of a puppy. We have used this since our dog turned 1. She is a shepherd mix with a lot of energy. Unfortunately, she is not very food motivated and is very picky about her meals (where, when, what and how). She has eaten this consistently and the formula gives enough calories to keep weight on her. She is still “petite” but until she slows down, I know this will get her the needed calories. Aside from trying to keep her weight up to normal, she is very healthy. Bloodwork is perfect, skin and coat beautiful, bright eyes, and sharp as a tack. And, of course, lots of energy. No digestive problems at all and her visits outside don’t yield any big messes. As long as they keep making this, we will keep buying. And subscribe and save makes it even more affordable - along with only having to bring the big bag from the porch compared to a trip to the store. ... show more

My male GSP loves the food and kept his weight up during the active hunting season. He was skin and bones prior to switching over to this high fat and high protein food.
