Well, how do I review dog food? I changed to this dog food after my Veterinarian told me to switch to this brand (she gave me a few other brands as well but I chose Purina since that was the first choice that she had mentioned). Apparently there is an article(s) out that I also had read that certain foods can cause heart issues in dogs. The foods listed was foods that are also pretty popular and/or familiar. The one on the list that I was using is called Nutro. I immediately god rid of it and went to the store and started feeding her this dog food. I like the Purina Pro Plan Weight Management. She eats this better and I’ve also noticed that she took a liking to it better than she has any other food that I’ve fed her before and I did try her out even on some high dollar stuff that is also on the bad list of dog foods. She didn’t like that one either. It was a small bad of course. Now ihave her on nothing but Purina Pro Plan. I feed her the hard food as well as a little bit of soft but she will also eat the dry alone which helps the ya art at on her teeth. She has the whitest healthiest teeth ever too. I try to brush them here and there so her canines don’t get that dingy/brown look. Bad teeth are expensive and painful for dogs. I think this food works great. I love it! ... show more

As a veterinary professional, I know how to read food labels and make sure that my pets are eating a good quality diet. I own several dogs, and I have been feeding Purina Pro Plan diets for years. They like the taste and they all have beautiful, shiny hair coats as well as strong bones, teeth, and muscles. I add Vitapet Probiotic Powder Blend For Dogs and Cats with 5 Billion CFU Per Serving and not other expensive dietary supplements because this food has everything they need to ensure a lifetime of good nutrition. ... show more

My dogs loved this. They would just see a can and beg, whimper, cry and put up a fuss until it was in there bowl. However, as the human who has to clean up behind these beloved precious beasts I HATE IT! Never in my life have I seen so much poop come out of such small dogs. It was everywhere. And I mean everywhere. And no, I didn't give my little dogs (15-25lb) a whole can. Which are very small to begin with. I split one can between 3 dogs. Beware buying this case. I wanted a variety, ALL the cans are the same, beef and rice, none of them are the pate with the chicken and rice. I cant possibly send a case of dog food back, and I hope my dog will eat it, but I will not purchase this again, will have to find another place to buy it.

Had to request a refund... Multiple cans are significantly damaged and the first one that I opened that was damaged has air pockets, foul odor, white bacteria growing within. Highly suspect botulism or something else. Will never buy again. This kind of quality is not okay. I don't even blame the delivery because the box that the item was packaged in was in great condition but not the content itself! Only two cans were okay... ... show more

I have fed this food for years to my pack. They all have shiny coats and wonderfully healthy stools. I love this food as it is easy to find, but also because the scientists at Purina have perfected the recipe. It is not unpleasant to use. I put it in a glass container and keep in the fridge which makes it easy to serve out to my dogs' dishes. I then add Purina Pro kibble, green beans (unsalted) and warm water. This product helps make a wonderful gravy and my dogs never leave anything in the bowl and turn circles when the food is coming. I don't think they would do this if they didn't like the flavor as they are not starving. I have fed Purina products for over 30 years without sick dogs -- most of my dogs living to be 11 or older with no stomach issues. ... show more

Our dogs got explosive diarrhea and vomiting from the beef & rice pate variety. We had this happen before, but I accidentally ordered it again. We fed them this morning with this food- and ended up with a massive disgusting mess on our couches and all over the place. It was the worst case of dog poop and vomit that we have ever seen in our 20 years of having dogs in our family. It was so bad that my wife and daughter themselves got sick to their stomachs from cleaning it up. ... show more

The labels on these cans tell the truth: the can contains 87%... moisture. That is water. The "leading ingredient" is LESS THAN 10% protein..... ouch! However, whatever they use in the way of flavouring(s) is, apparently dog-delicious -- my dogs absolutely love the stuff ---- mixed into their high quality other-brand(s) of food.... which contain about 27% protein, lots of biotics, high quality veggies, berries, etc., but which lack the moisture (again, read: "water") these cans offer. I don't buy this stuff for food -- I buy it for the moisture and added yummy taste. Maybe you might like to do so also? ... show more
