We have a very picky eater. She always gets some of whatever we're having for dinner mixed into her food, so she isn't just eating dog food for dinner, but she does eat plain dog food throughout the day. She really likes this flavor. She's turned her nose up at several others, even if we add real chicken or beef to it, but she will eat this by itself. As a GSD, she has a sensitive stomach, but this doesn't aggravate her stomach like some others do. It's helped her maintain a healthy weight and the vet recommended it, so it can't be too bad for a processed food. ... show more

This product was the best price per pound of the dog foods that claim to help skin. Cons: Has a smell reminiscent of oxidized soybean oil. No soybean oil in this product, but it smelled a little stale upon opening. Skipper doesn't like this food much, and kind of gives me dirty looks for 20 seconds or so before eating. The label also makes an Omega 6 claim, which if I'm not mistaken, is not something to brag about. Omega 3's are good, 6's are not. Feel free to look it up. Pros: Her skin is much better. I am very pleased to write a good review about Purina's Sensitive Systems dog food. I have a 75-lb Pit (picture above) with numerous allergies. Particularly, the skin on his stomach stayed red, broken out, and irritated, and I could tell, painful. His feet itched constantly. I had tried a variety of things to no avail. Then a friend told me that she had switched to Sensitive Systems for her dog, who also had allergy issues, along with digestive issues. Just as she did, I have seen great improvement in my dog's issues. While the allergies have not completely subsided, and they probably never will, his allergy issues have been greatly reduced. I also have a smaller Daschund mix who loves this food, too. When I asked my veterinarian about it, he said it is excellent and comparable to the high-priced Science Diet food. For me, the price is very affordable. I also think it must be nutritious and filling, because I've found that I don't have to purchase as much dog food as I used to. He highly recommends it. And, the best part is that I can get it from Amazon and delivered right to my door! ... show more

I usually feed my dog Purina One, Healthy Weight, because he is the ultimate couch potato. Unfortunately, since that has a low fat content, his skin became dry and he seemed to be shedding more than usual, which was a lot to begin with. I have him on this now, hoping for skin and coat improvement. He’s eaten more than half of the 31.1 lbs. I do think there is improvement, but I’m hoping for more. Now the problem is portion control and weight management. My next move is to mix the food, so that he gets 50% Healthy Weight and 50% Skin and Coat (this product). I also plan to add Vitamin E. I did that in the past for a dog with the same issues, who actually had bare patched just in front of her tail. That seemed to work well. I may go back to feeding this dog the Healthy Weight formula, supplemented with a daily Vitamin E capsule. ... show more
