Natural Latex Foam is a comfortable, durable and breathable material that is the perfect addition to the top of any mattress. We designed the Pure Green Natural Latex Mattress Topper to capture and enhance the best qualities of natural latex foam. It is made with the purest formulation possible through a superior production process and is certified under internationally recognized health and environmental standards. In 2013 we introduced The Pure Green Natural Latex Foam Mattress Topper. We made the topper with natural latex (harvested from rubber trees), no synthetic latex (made from petrochemicals) and manufactured it to the highest aesthetic and performance standards. Over the years, we obtained several certifications to ensure and verify the safety of the topper. In 2019, we began sourcing our natural latex exclusively from certified organic rubber trees and became GOLS certified (Global Organic Latex Standard). Our mattress topper will probably last longer than the mattress you use it on top of. Breathability - Natural Latex Foam is heat neutral. It will not absorb body heat or change firmness depending on the temperature. Latex foam is an open-celled foam and contains tiny air chambers that run throughout the foam. These air chambers allow the air to flow freely through the topper. While a latex foam topper can not always make a bed cooler, a 2"-3" topper can serve as a great buffer between your body and a hot memory foam (or polyurethane foam) mattress. We produce our foam using natural latex harvested from organically grown rubber trees; we never use any synthetic latex in our foam. We also never use any fillers. The use of fillers lowers the cost to produce latex foam but comprises the foam's performance qualities. It is challenging to maintain cosmetic and performance consistency when manufacturing natural latex foam. Unlike synthetic materials, which always have the exact same composition, the composition of natural latex harvested from rubber trees continually changes slightly with the weather and seasons. I'm 38, 205lbs, athletic build, meaning I'm pretty evenly split and wait between upper body and lower body. That being said my old purple mattress started causing me lower back pain. So I moved to "extra firm" mattress I bought here off amazon, but that thing did not live up to the advertisement. Not wanting to get a third mattress, I decided to go for this topper. I've tried other toppers that were "extra firm" and they literally felt hotel pillow soft. Not this one. This mattress topper actually felt really good for my back. It's firm enough to wear you don't sink into it like you would a soft mattress, but stiff enough to wear it distributes your body weight pretty evenly. I'm able to lay on my side as I'm a side sleeper and stomach sleeper, and within a few days I stopped waking up with lower back pain. I just bought it so I won't know how long it'll last or how long it'll be durable, but after week on it, I really think it's worth the money. The first night it had to smell, but that's gone away. Again, for my body and body type, it's been a godsend. I'm a huge fan of it. And definitely save me from having to buy a $3,000 latex mattress. ... show more

EDIT: It’s been a few months and I’m still very happy! I find that I sleep on my back easier now due to the added lumbar support from the mattress pad mixed with the slight sink of my mattress. It’s super firm, but cradles without me sinking into a hole, which is exactly what I wanted. It’s also still the correct choice for stomach sleeping. I haven’t woken up with a sore back in a while. Nor have I woken up drenched in sweat. It’s winter as of the time of this edit, and the topper can get very cold, so the heated mattress pad has been on more frequently. The topper heats up evenly and retains the heat without cooking me. Just a nice toasty bed, and no waking up in puddles. Pure bliss! It is pretty firm, but I stand by my original review 100%. I think maybe a super thin pillow top or some more thick blankets under my sheets would give it just enough softness to make this perfect without compromising the support. That’s really all it needs though, honestly. Easiest $200. Love it when a plan comes together :D Original Post: “You can’t make a too soft bed firmer. You’ll need a new mattress.” But what if my mattress is one of the firmest memory foams available and only 3 years old? It’s not a bad mattress (literally was a life saver when l bought it), I just need a little more lower back support now that it’s broken in. Plus, the damn thing sleeps very hot and doesn't breathe at all, no matter how much natural bedding I throw at it. I needed a solution thats not $1000+. And I needed it yesterday! I bought the 2” in firm in desperation, trusting my gut in thinking that if it was too firm for a side or even some back sleepers, then it should be great for me, a stomach sleeper. My idea was that the “too soft, but still a brick overall” mattress would just allow the firm topper to contour a tiny bit more than if I just bought a new firm latex mattress, but still be strong enough to support me at 5’7/175lbs. Plus I wouldn’t wake up in a puddle as often since latex breathes, which is arguably more frustrating than my back pain. IT WORKED. I was trying to wait a month before I reviewed it, but I’ve slept like a baby every night since. My back doesn’t hurt and I don’t have to sleep with my hips elevated by a pillow or my arm anymore. The night sweats have significantly reduced in severity. It does off gas a bit, but I just let it sit in my living room until I couldn’t smell it when I walked into the house from outside. Took two days. I threw a cheap wool blanket over it and put my sheets on over that and now I smell nothing. It also drags just fine to my bedroom if you leave it on top of the plastic bag it came in. It’s heavy, but I had no issues moving it at all or adjusting it on the bed. Just pick up a corner and ripple/flop it into place. It’s latex, it bounces lol. Like seriously, have you guys not moved heavy/awkward furniture before? Learn to work smarter, and maybe some proper lifting techniques lol. If you are a stomach sleeper, do not waste your time on the medium firmness. Buy this one and a flat pillow and call it a day. It is indeed firm, but not hard. You’ll adjust quickly. Easy $200.     • loved the firmness but didn't like the smell

Before reviewing this topper, I thought it would be helpful to tell about my experience with other latex toppers. Ever since I heard about the advantages of latex over memory foam, I’ve looked for latex when I needed to buy a new mattress or improve an old one. I have purchased throughout these years 1 latex mattress (from a local store) and 3 latex toppers (on amazon), all in different firmness and from different sellers. I bought my first latex topper 2 years ago, from the same seller, Sleep on Latex. That topper is no longer available and at the time it was marketed as “made in USA”. It was a medium firm topper that I bought for a very soft and old mattress to make it a bit firmer. It fit the purpose well, but I found 2 problems with the topper: 1- it was a little wider than the mattress (it could still fit the bed sheet though), and 2- because it didn’t come with a cover, there were always tiny pieces of latex all over the floor (to solve this problem, I covered the topper with an old duvet cover). In the beginning of this year, I had to buy another topper, but this time for a mattress that was as hard as a rock. I decided to look for a topper with cover to avoid the problem I had with the previous one. I was very happy to find a soft latex topper with cover from a different seller and at a good price. That topper had the perfect dimensions and the perfect firmness (or softness) for that mattress. Unfortunately, they didn't sell a firmer topper. About 3 months ago, I needed to buy a third topper, and this time for my own latex mattress (medium firm) that was not very supportive for my back, as I hoped for when I bought it. I was again looking for a topper with cover, but I wanted the firmest topper possible. I soon found out that firm toppers with cover were either very difficult to find (at least on amazon) or very expensive (the ones at a reasonable price were medium or soft). Since I had an extra duvet cover, I decided to buy from Sleep on Latex again, and ordered the firm latex topper full size. The delivery was fast (it arrived earlier than estimated) and the topper was very neatly packaged. When I removed all the plastic and squeezed the topper with my fingers, it didn’t really feel firm enough, but when I placed it on my mattress and lay on it, it felt sooooo good! Unfortunately it didn’t make my back pain go away completely, but it definitely felt much more supportive than the medium topper. Although I’m very satisfied with this topper, I found a few problems with it: 1- this topper was way wider than my mattress (almost 5 inches wider!), so I had to trim the edges to align with my mattress and fit the sheet. 2- unlike the latex mattress and the other latex toppers I bought in the past, this topper came with a very strong rubber smell that lasted almost 2 months. I left the topper unused for the first week with the windows open, which helped a little, but the smell still didn’t go away. I decided to use the topper on the second week, hoping that 3 layers (duvet cover + mattress cover + bed sheet) over it would do the trick. Five weeks went by, and my clothes would still smell like rubber, even after changing bed sheets. I decided to wash the mattress cover as well, and finally, 6 weeks later, the smell became barely noticeable. Conclusion: If you are looking for a firm and supportive topper and cannot afford a more expensive one, this topper could be the one for you. But beware that you may need to trim the topper, get a cover for it, and endure the smell for a while. ... show more

Finally, we found the perfect topper. After researching several other toppers looking for the firm topper we felt we needed, we found one that works for both my husband and myself. Our situation? Both of us have degenerative discs...me in the neck requiring cervical fusion of 4 vertebrae and other discs that are just plain wearing out due to arthritis and age. My husband also has back issues...scoliosis due to a mild case of polio and disc issues in lumbar area plus shoulder pain, arthritis and assorted aches and pains of getting older. We're retired, in our latest 60s and both would benefit from losing some excess weight. Sleeping at night was uncomfortable to say the least. We replaced our mattress but wanted to keep it in good condition so we. bought a memory foam mattress topper at Costco and put it on the bed to start with. It began to show signs of flattening and not being supporative out after about 2-3 years. Replaced it with another brand at Costco and that one too began to do the same. The mattress had never been without a topper on it & it was in great condition so we tried sleeping without the topper. The bed felt great, firm and no aches or pains in the mornings. But we still wanted to protect our mattress from eventually sagging so the search was on for a different topper. We searched website after website for "the best topper for back pain"...and learned a great deal about the different materials and types of toppers. Density varies greatly too...2-3lb density is softer and 4-5 lbs firmer. Memory foam is the most readily available kind of topper, also the least expensive and to us they seem to offer the least support. We did purchase a "layered topper" of 4lb density on top with 5lb density underneath, ILD of 19 I think. Tested it out for less than 15 minutes and returned it the same day. Felt like we were being sucked into a marshmallow. That was supposed to be firm? More research taught us that latex is much firmer and lasts longer than memory foam with less if any "cratering" where you lay on it. There are two types of latex toppers, one (talalay) that is about 40% latex and the rest is fibers and other man made materials other is Dunlop. They are different methods of how the toppers are made. 100% latex is more supportive, no odor, and of course more expensive. Yep, you really do get what you pay for. We decided that 100% natural latex was what we wanted and Firm was what we needed. More research lead us to Pure Green. I spoke to Jennifer in their customer support and she inquired about our specific needs and gave us recommendations. We decided on the 2" firm topper that has a density of 5.9lbs and an ILD rating of 44. I'm so glad we did. It is firm, but it still cushions our hips and shoulders. Not being sucked down into the topper like with memory foam and we both wake up feeling about as good as 67 years old gets! One caution...this sucker is heavy!!! King sized must be around 50 lbs....the stickers on the box that say HEAVY Cautiion Lifting aren't just there because they are pretty (although they are). If you are looking for a firm topper, do your research and be sure to take a look at Pure Green100% latex toppers. We are very happy we did! ... show more

I was struggling with significant lower-back pain and hoped a mattress topper could help me avoid replacing my entire mattress. From the very first night, this topper made a remarkable difference: my bed felt supportive instead of allowing me to sink, and my comfort improved dramatically. Just as impressive was the company’s outstanding customer service—the team consistently treated me with patience, kindness, and genuine understanding. To find out how much of the improvement was actually coming from the topper, I decided to remove it for one night. I could not even make it through the entire night without it. At around 2 a.m., I woke up with an unbearable sharp pain in my lower back. I am disabled following a stroke, so I had to call and wake a family member to help put the topper back on my bed. That experience confirmed just how much of a difference it had been making for me. If you are considering this topper because of back pain, I truly do not think you will regret purchasing it.     • Great fix for the Sleep Number Bed.

I am very thrilled with this topper. I purchased a Sleep Number bed about 3 years ago and despite many attempts to find my "number" ---I never could get comfortable in this bed. I seemed to do best when my number was set to 100. I am about 5'3'' and weigh an even 100 lbs--so as you can imagine---this is the not the number that the Sleep Number people advised---it was more like 35. So, truthfully, I think the air mattress feel was not working for me no matter what the number. I was waking up with low back soreness each morning. I tried adding memory foam--which actually made things worse and then eventually settled on a thick mattress pad to try and 'disguise' the air mattress feeling. Honestly, I looked forward to hotel stays so I could get back on a coil mattress. But what do you do after you have sunk 2k into a Sleep Number and your husband is having no problems with it at all. Well...you continue your search for twin toppers---that's what you do. I did some reading about Latex toppers and decided to give this a whirl. For $140 bucks and Amazon's return policy--I figured I couldn't go wrong. The topper arrived two days ago and I immediately put it on the bed. Smell was no big deal to me---I could care less. I just needed it to be firm. Oh--and I did order the FIRM one and am very happy that I did that. What I notice is that my body rests more on top of the latex topper rather than sinking in like memory foam. There is some "give" to it--so my body makes some very shallow indentations. However I am clearly VERY supported---much like a spring mattress. I honestly can't believe the difference. After I got my coffee this morning I hopped back in bed for a few minutes just to listen to the birds and revel in the support . The best part is that I no longer feel the "air mattress" underneath me. I played around with the Sleep Number settings and it makes no difference if I have it on 70 or 100. It all feels good. This topper saved me A LOT of money, time and frustration that would have been the direct result of searching for the right bed. The reason I initially went for the Sleep Number was that I was hopeful that it would last longer than a coil mattress---which seems to start losing support before the 8 year mark for me. However, I am disappointed that the firmness is substantially less than I expected, as least from the description. It flattens without much force. I would rate this at most as medium firm.     • For those worried about smell…

UPDATE- I have purchased 3 of these toppers and HIGHLY recommend them. The first one I bought felt great but smelled terrible- like a dirty highway. I ended up returning it and was turned off from latex- but after some research I realized I may have just gotten a lemon. Latex has a smell but shouldn’t be that bad- it gets that way if it’s been exposed to heat for too long. In other words- burned rubber. I decided to try again and I’m glad I did. After airing out the next one for several days it barely has an odor and it isn’t bothersome at all. I am very, very sensitive to smells. Very. So I can say with confidence that this topper is unlikely to be bothersome. I have a 2 inch firm under a 1 inch medium firm. That is covered by a cotton sheet as a protector and a raw wool mattress cover. By far the most comfortable surface I’ve ever slept on. Over the last couple years I have tested countless mattresses/toppers and struggled to find something that offers firm, durable support- until now. I have the 2 inch firm topper and I highly, highly recommend it. I’ve only slept on it one night but my bed has never felt better and I see why so many people say once you go latex you never go back. You actually float instead of sinking in. It pushes back and gives you even, very firm support without being “hard” or creating pressure points. Also this company offers the highest ILD I’ve been able to find. I felt like I was sleeping on a cloud and my spine actually feels straighter. I bought the 2 inch because I wasn’t looking to completely change the feel of my mattress, but now I wish I had gotten the 3 inch because the feel is so far superior to any mattress I’ve ever tried.
