For it being particleboard, the black laminate is really nice and looks very contemporary. Indistinguishable from stained real wood. Took me, by myself, about 2 hours to assemble. You assemble the stand first and then the fireplace second. Took me longer bc I'm very precise in doing it right the first time. I don't do rush hack jobs. After assembly, the stand is much sturdier than I expected. It's SOLID, it's sound. I'm 220lbs and I'd have no issue sitting on this thing (not recommended btw) but saying this bc it feels very solid. LED fireplace was easy to put into place if you slow down and follow instructions to a T. I chose to drill holes into the wood mounting brackets (unseen part of the stand meant to hold fireplace in place) and tap in plastic screw anchors. I could have just screwed the screws in but took the extra effort to insert screw anchors (provided) for solid assembly. Putting glass face on is a very tight fit but after tapping it in the whole unit is a perfect tight fit into the stand. I read a couple of review where it didn't fit and/or they had to custom mod something. Bonk.... it's a tight fit and you have to work with it to get it to drop in just right. I fussed for like 10 minutes. Just enough space at like 1mm to get it to drop in place. Highly highly recommend laying the stand FACE UP to do this procedure. LED choices on color to illuminate rocks and the flames are two separate choices on the remote. A ton of color combos to choice from. A guess is like 15 color choices on rock color, 15 flame choices including flames that are multicolored (like orange with bkue tips). Impressive. Enough to chose your favorite Team colors (lol) or not the mood of the room. Realistic.... visitors swear it's REAL flames and ask how I'm not burning up the TV and stand (lol). Overall, it's a great purchase. I had mild expectations going in. Now I'm blown away on the quality. Looks like a $2000 setup that I hired professionals to custom build for me. Probably my best Amazon purchase of 2024 ... show more

quite a breeze to build. wood seems to be decent quality, and they only use 4 different hardware including the covers for the screws. looks great in my living room and 0 issues with fit or quality.

This was simple to assemble did it in about 40 minutes IKEA needs to get ahold of whoever wrote these instructions and take lessons! Pretty sturdy too the 2 things that wasn't so nice is the fireplace insert does NOT fit properly the boards that it screws into are not wide enough to catch the screw threads without splitting them. I drilled them in at an angle which did fine. And the last one is the big holes in the back of the storage are precut and punched out leaving you no option but to have them. I was skeptical about purchasing a TV stand from Amazon. However I was pretty impressed when considering the cost. My wife was able to put this together by herself in about an hour. So very easy to assemble. What I like most about this one is the flame goes all the way across not just in the middle of the unit. It does everything that it says, it has plenty of options for color and brightness. We hardly use the heat function so I can't say much about that. When sitting in a quiet room you can hear the flame when it is on but it is very quiet. Good buying for the price. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Sturdy, beautiful , and with straightforward instructions to assemble it. Fast shipping, great price. I’m really happy and satisfied with my purchase. The fireplace insert did not fit properly into the actual piece of furniture. My husband (who is a metal fabricator) had to make 2 metal plates at work for the insert to attach to hold it into place, otherwise you cannot tighten the screws into what they have provided for you. Is was pretty easy to assemble. It looks terrific! The fireplace is easy to insert (unlike some reviews I read). I think the confusion is that the side screws are taken off to remove the glass panel from the fireplace (its there for shipping purposes only to keep glass panel in place) then once the fireplace is mounted the glass front slides into place on the metal front of the fireplace and the side screws do not get put back on. ... show more

This unit looks great after we got it put together, but the structure of it is only sound after adding 10 screws and some gorilla glue. It looks great, always wanted a fireplace in the bedroom, but the unit took two days to put together, having to walk away from it a few times.
