  • A truly beautiful visual novel
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
The sequel to Black Butterfly, and in all honesty, I enjoyed this game more than Black Butterfly. It's an otome game but it focuses more on the mystery and story which was really refreshing to me. I got really into the story and trying to figure out how everything intertwined. One of the best things about the Psychdelica story is that the Heroine herself is voiced. Jed/Eiar's voice actress did such an amazing job too! The art is beautiful and there are plenty of CGs for all the characters, not just the main ones. I really enjoyed the map system and talking to different townspeople and triggering the short stories. In my opinion, I thought it really fleshed out the story. Lastly, the soundtrack for this game is amazing, it really rounded out the game and gave it the small medieval town with eternal snow feel. Out of the three games released for Aksys' "Summer of Mystery", this was by far my favorite. But before playing this, I definitely recommend playing Black Butterfly just so you can get the whole story! ... show more

  • unique story
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
First of all - the shipping was near-instantaneous. I chose the fast delivery and it was here after 2.5 days (and I live overseas!). The game was in perfect condition, still wrapped and with collectible cards inside. Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk is not a typical otome game - there's less romance and there's no typical route selection - but you can read short episodes with particular characters and get their endings. (It's quite similar to PBB in this respect). I agree with some other reviewers that listening to all villagers was tedious at times. Fortunately their answers were short :D The story was immensely interesting, the characters well-developed (even MC!) and often surprising. It made me experience a wide variety of emotions. I rarely cry reading or watching anything, but I wept during this one. I truly recommend it! I also loved Psychedelica of the Black Butterfly but I think that the sequel was even better! ... show more

  • Awesome game
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
This game was great. Awesome artwork, interesting story line, non-doormat heroine, good soundtrack. It had quite a few references to the previous game in this series, Psychedelica of the black butterfly. Worth the time to play!

  • Not really an otome game.
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
Like the previous one, this game had a great storyline, interesting characters, and beautiful music. This game is a dark mystery visual novel with a bit of romance thrown in. While I enjoyed the return of the flowchart system, I didn't think this game actually needed it. Things really didn't start picking up until the later half of the game. I also didn't enjoy all the interactions you have to have with the random villagers. I did enjoy the main heroine much more than the others though. She's a mature, hardworking, girl that doesn't let her own insecurities weigh her down. ... show more

  • Dragged On At Times, But Comical
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
The flowchart I liked better implemented in this one versus the last Psychedelica game. I liked the heroine in this one since she is strong, stands up for herself, is hardworking, etc. She is quite likable. Listening to all of the villagers in the flowchart was neat at first, but just grew to be tedious. I also wish there was a prologue and then maybe one chapter and then we choose a guy's route to go through. I dislike how the heroine kind of gets too much intimate attention from more than one guy. I know it's just a game, but it just feels wrong to me. Especially in some of the side stories, sheesh. Overall, it was fun enough, but the story dragged on until about 70% through. The beginning was interesting, however. Despite me only giving it three stars, please remember it's my own personal rating so don't let it fully discourage you. However, a lot of people give these otome/visual game five stars when a lot of them don't feel like five stars. It was still comical and the guys were unique. ... show more

  • Vita going out with a bang
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
Would give it 10 stars if I could. I thought the first one was good but this one was awesome. I liked the fact that not all good endings we're happy ones. This is the last English Otome for Vita and they are going out with a bang

  • Much Better than Black Butterfly...
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
I really liked that the heroine in this game was a much stronger lead than the one in BB (Black Butterfly). It also had a longer play through. I wish there was another psychedelica game. The only thing that bothered me is the unnecessary appearance of Ai.. it wasn't needed. If you haven't played BB, that's okay. The stories are separate.. but intertwined in a way. I would honestly recommend you play this before BB because it hints at a lot of things in BB that I missed. Overall 9/10 game. ... show more

  • Its a nice game but I miss the old mechanics
Edition: Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk
I enjoyed this game, but I miss the old mechanics where you can sort of pick which character to go after and unlock the special character through the story. I didn't enjoy this one as much as the others but I plan to give it another try.
