Description

A brutal VR sci-fi-stealth, horror, roguelike, the persistence challenges you to survive aboard a doomed colony ship, overrun with Mutants. The Crew have all been killed, but the security officer and engineer survive as digital recordings. With just a clone printer to provide host bodies, and an armory fabricator to supply weapons, can you survive long enough to repair the ship and make it back home? you are the hunted, not the Hunter. First person horror meets roguelike exploration in VR. Everyone's dead even you. But there's a Slim chance you could still escape, and take back your life, if only you can repair the ship's devastated systems before the Black hole that has trapped it rips the persistence apart. In an entirely new kind of stealth horror game, Exclusively for PlayStation4 with PlayStation VR, you must hide in the shadows and battle terrifying Mutants as you strive to get the engines back on line, plot a course and somehow get the ship back to Earth. Can you stay alive long enough to save the persistence? different every time. An insurmountable horde stands between you and success, and to make matters worse the ship's macrostructure is malfunctioning, rearranging the deck modules into random configurations. Procedurally generated Decks mean that no two games of the persistence will play the same and every time you awaken in another clone host, a new challenge awaits you on the next deck. Stealth and VR, a perfect match. The heart-pounding thrills of a stealth game are raised to new levels by the immersive presence of VR. Sneaking around, hiding behind cover feel the adrenalin pumping as you Lean out of Safety to see the terrifying dangers that stalk you in the dark. The mission. The eon-class vessel the persistence is heading to terraform and colonize an exoplanet 1, 291 light years from home.

  • My Grandson Can’t Get Enough of It
My grandson absolutely loves this game. He plays it on his PSVR with his PlayStation 4 and really enjoys the immersive experience. The graphics and gameplay keep him engaged, and he talks about it all the time. It’s exciting, challenging, and perfect for someone who enjoys virtual reality games. Seeing how much fun he’s having with it makes it worth every penny. If you’re looking for a PSVR game that keeps kids (and even adults) entertained, this is a great choice. ... show more

  • Amazing, terrifying, frustrating
This game is absolutely amazing! 2D survival-horror games will never be the same after you play them in VR. Heck...scary movies aren't even the same for me after playing this type of game in VR. I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 for a couple of reasons. First of all, as far as VR horror games go, Resident Evil Biohazard does it just a little bit better. The second reason is that even though I've had this game for more than a year I didn't REALLY get into it until very recently. The Persistence is frustrating as hell. Without giving too much away, your goal is to make your way through 4 levels of a spaceship and get the thing running again. You've got a bunch of zombie clones gone bad trying to get you the whole time. There is a lot of sneaking around involved. It's terrifying and nerve-wracking at the same time. The frustrating part is that it would almost be impossible to get through this game from start to finish without dying. When you die your character is re-cloned, the entire configuration of the ship changes and all enemies are re-spawned. You lose all of the weapons you've collected but you keep items that can be used to upgrade your character and equipment. Simply put, the more times you die the easier the game becomes, so dying is almost a necessity. As far as I can tell you cannot save your game mid-mission, it saves automatically when you die and essentially start over. So if you're trying to get through it in one go be prepared to spend hours and hours and hours on your playthrough. Over the last year I tried getting into this game several times but got frustrated and ended up playing different games instead. I didn't truly appreciate The Persistence for what it was until about a month ago when I put it back in and committed to finishing it. Be prepared to grind. Not everyone is into that but, depending on the game, it can be a lot of fun for me. The game will help you out by always having a full map of each level at your disposal. Once you know what you're doing it becomes a lot easier. I've played a lot of VR games on PlayStation and it's pretty common for me to finish some in several days, sometimes in several hours. This game took me about a month to finish, once I really gave it a try. That's a huge bonus in my book. The difficulty level makes it that much more enjoyable for me, but you have to give it a chance, which I didn't do originally. There is an extensive list of weapons and learning them all will also make the game easier. Some weapons almost felt like cheating to me, once I learned how to use them right. You can collect items to upgrade your weapons, but for the most part, upgrading usually just means you get more ammo. There's not a whole lot of variety in the enemies and after the second level of the ship you've pretty much seen them all. There are no special boss battles. When the game gets really hairy they just throw a whole bunch of enemies at you at once. The recent price I've seen for this game makes it an absolute steal. Get it now before someone buys up all the copies and starts selling them at unreasonable prices. I've seen that a lot lately. ... show more

  • It's NOT PRIME.. Shipping takes a month or longer
It's false advertising. It's labeled as prime. That's false. Shipping has been a month later and still not arrived. I purchased from another vendor and it arrived 2 days ago. The game itself is awesome.

  • The Game is FANTASTIC, in my humble opinion.
This game is fantastic! It's beautifully done. The sets look REAL with the VR! The price is fair for the amount of play you get. If you've read anything about the game, you know if you die, you lose all of your weapons and have to start the level over, only the layout is completely different each time, so you have to strategize all over! THIS is fantastic because it keeps the game fresh and interesting. At first the frequent dying and losing and restarting was super annoying, but once I realized I didn't lose any of my upgrades or the "money", its not such a big deal. Once you complete the level, its saved! Whew! Thank God! As I upgraded, I felt more confident and then they threw in a new enemy and dead again! It's all great fun! I HIGHLY recommend The Persistence! Hope there's a sequel! One last suggestion, since there's no save option, i simply put the PS4 in rest mode and it "saved" my current place. This came in handy as some days after an hour or so, I had other things I needed to do. Hope you enjoy! ... show more

  • Never played this style game before, a wee bit too scary for VR noobs like myself.
Let me preface by conveying this simply truth; if you’re easily scared or new to VR, take it slow on this one. I would recommend a diaper and making sure no ones in the house. I downloaded the demo of this game and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it, albeit having to wait around a corner for 5 minutes to muster up the courage to face an enemy. Hence my warning for the weary. The graphics are terrific even on the regular PS4 slim model. The controls are tight and responsive to the point I have 0 complaints about them. The sound is extremely well done and super immersive. This only adds to sending your arm and neck hairs to stand on end but also makes it much easier to locate an enemy using your senses. You can beat this game in 12-17 hours depending on how much you explore and you die; you will die ALOT. The good thing about death is you respawn while keeping the upgrades you’ve obtained through that life, which means every death you’re becoming stronger than you were previously. One thing that kinda sucks is that you will lose the guns you’ve obtained but there’s enough around for it to not be too much of a set back. For the price and the adrenaline rush this gives you, its well worth the money for the experience. I’ve since moved on to RE7 VR, which I highly recommend but can attest that you’ll never get used to VR scaring the utter garbage out of you. ... show more

  • Wish it didn’t make me sick unlike every other VR game I’ve played...
Didn’t get too far into the game because I had to take the headset off every 5 min to avoid being sick. This is the only game that has made me nauseous and I’m not sure why (and I own about 7-8 VR games). What was disappointing is that you have to use the PS controller, not the Move controllers....but what I did play of the game, it seemed fun. ... show more
