This kit needs a little bit of modification once you get it, but after that it works fairly well. You need to cut the notch back to the center (or almost center) of the divot where you put the drill mandrel. As you create dust, there's nowhere for it to go unless the notch enters that space. I also undercut the bottom of the notch. That allows for a deeper seat and more airflow. After that, it worked just fine. I wished the top handle would stay on, but it's not a big deal to assemble it again once it falls off. It's a great learning tool for kids and those new to this style of fire starting. You get the basics and some confidence before moving on to more traditional or improvised methods.

The product did not work as initially planned, we use the seat up twice, ensure the correct form and nothing was easy for the bow and drill. I am unable to us this product. I would not purchase again.
