  • Easy to Assemble So Cool

Perfect, easy to use and learn on. Even comes with a bundle of fire starting “fluff”. Love this. Easy to assemble and easy to use.

  • Great product
Color: *Single-Player Edition
The Bowdrill kit from PSKOOK is a neat little way to learn and or practice primitive friction fire making. It is great for learning and teaching the basic skills needed for this task. The many reviews I've seen are usually in agreement with me on this. The very few negative reviews I've seen are related to lack of included instructions. I have attached an electronic copy of the instructions for any who may need to use them. I also want to mention that this and any other PSKOOK product is supported by great customer service. They are quick to respond to each and every customer. If you have any questions about this bow drill kit or any of their other products contact them and you'll receive immediate response. I have been in contact with them over the last few months and I assure you they are great to work with and you'll like their products. You can see my reviews of their products as I do them on Mosher Ridge KY on Facebook. ... show more

  • Decent kit once modified
Color: *Single-Player Edition
This kit needs a little bit of modification once you get it, but after that it works fairly well. You need to cut the notch back to the center (or almost center) of the divot where you put the drill mandrel. As you create dust, there's nowhere for it to go unless the notch enters that space. I also undercut the bottom of the notch. That allows for a deeper seat and more airflow. After that, it worked just fine. I wished the top handle would stay on, but it's not a big deal to assemble it again once it falls off. It's a great learning tool for kids and those new to this style of fire starting. You get the basics and some confidence before moving on to more traditional or improvised methods. ... show more

  • My middle school students loved this.
Color: *Single-Player Edition
I wanted my middle school students to get a feel for what it was like to start a fire without modern tools, and this was a great tool for them to use. The success rate was about 20-30% (it was a moist day), but all the groups had a lot of fun, have a tactile memory of the effort required, and practiced team work in doing this. I will order again for next year. ... show more

  • Maybe I was just inexperienced with this
Color: *Single-Player Edition
So it was a great idea. Taking it out of the box was a little confusing mine didn’t come with instructions or anything on how to set it up. I tried while I was camping and it wasn’t a success. It was a little hard to set up and to actually get, it moving and going so this wasn’t for me but that doesn’t mean it’s a bad product like I said, maybe I’m just a little inexperienced with this. It’s easier for me to just have a lighter in my pocket when camping or even a flint, I find those much easier to use Have experience with this I say give it a shot and see if you can do it ... show more

  • I honestly really like Thai product!
Color: Single-Player Edition+Fire Starter
It works how it supposed to do and I really enjoy the product, the only thing I do see wrong with it, is it does not last long. ( the wood your use to start the fire) it goes fairly fast

  • Fire making fun for the whole family!
Color: Double-Player Edition
Immediately apon opening the box I was instantly impressed with the construction. After further examination of the bow drill I felt like it would last for a long time! The big selling point was that it was a two player one that allows your kids to join in on the fun. Ok, so I gave it a spin with my kids and it works as advertised and includes everything needed to produce primitive fire, with little effort! The kit is responsibly priced, especially since it's incredibly hard to find the right wood and dryness to try and make one on your own. I give it two thumbs up! ... show more

  • The bearing system alone is worth the cost
Color: *Single-Player Edition
Reminiscing of my time in the BOY Scouts of America, I decided to purchase this so that I can teach my kids this crucial skill. Upon first use I was able to get an ember and start up a fire. The most impressive part of this is the bearing system. If you use this spindle up and needed a new one, it would take just as much time to taper the bearing block end of the spindle and make a bearing block as it would to just whittle the bearing block end to accept this bearing system. There is absolutely NO heat generation with this bearing system! The only end that makes heat is the end you need to make heat. The only issue I have with this is that the wood is very soft (this is good for beginners because it makes it easy to make an ember), however, for those who are not beginners this wears down pretty quick. Also, the ember generating end of the spindle is tapered too narrow. This can literally make it into a drill with it being so narrow. Now that mine has worn down to just the beginning of the taper it is wearing down much slower. For the beginner I cannot recommend this enough, it is an easy way to learn the basics of bow and drill fire making. For the expert I still recommend this for the bearing system, it's genius and you can use it on your own spindles! The design is well thought out as I have made three of these and have successfully made fires with all of them using this as a template (1" dowel, drill, small sign stake, some whittling, and para-cord). ... show more
