  • Amazing!
I had to give this purchase a lot of thought. All my friends and family have Xbox's.. But I don't play a lot of the games that they play on there. (CoD, Halo.. that's it lolz) I'm a HUGE RPG gamer and I remember Playstation being the go to system for original RPG games like Dragon Quest and Xenogears and Star Ocean and all the cool JRPG's. SO I got this and I have not regretted it at all. The system itself is sleek and sexy and doesn't get hot at all after hours of playing games. There are a ton of RPG's to play, which is the whole reason I got a PS3 over an Xbox. Now i'm mainly a PC gamer so of course I play all the big game titles like AC3, Fallout, Skyrim and such on my PC.. but this system is perfect for what I got it for. I also got the Move bundle.. it's MUCH better than any Kinect crap i've played lol. I highly suggest buying this system, great starter bundle for any PS fan. Though.. I haven't had any time to jump into Uncharted yet lol. ... show more

  • The New PS3
When I first ordered this bundle, I only did it because for $20 extra than the cheapest new system, you got 90 extra GB of memory, plus Uncharted 3. I didn't know until I opened the box that it would be a brand new system design all together. The first thing you'll notice is that the body itself is smaller than the second generation PS3s. The plastic material it uses does seem a little bit cheaper and thinner than the older generations, but this is a Playstation, not a car, so that doesn't really tend to matter. The aesthetic design reminds me of a Sega Genesis. The second biggest difference is the disc tray. The disc loading function is no longer a slot-based system like you would have in a car stereo, but rather, the entire right-hand side of the top of the system slides open and you set the disc inside. I really like this because one of the most common hardware errors with all of the game systems is failure of the disc loading mechanics. This should guarantee that won't be an issue. The third biggest change would be the power used by the machine. I'm not sure of the technical specifications, but it runs cooler and quieter than the last iteration of the console, and DEFINITELY runs about 95% quieter than the original PS3, which sounded like a jet engine whether you were playing a game or not. As for the Uncharted portion of the bundle, it's pretty much just the game in its own box, plus some downloadable extras because it's the Game of the Year portion. I haven't gotten to play Uncharted 3 yet, but I'm sure it's great based on reviews and the first two. At the time of purchase, I paid $269 for this. To get this awesome new PS3 plus one of the biggest games of the year felt like a steal. ... show more

  • Very Cheap, but that's the point
This isn't a comment on the PS3 in general, just this particular version of the PS3. The "Super Slim" is super cheap. That's why Sony released it. To make more profit from selling the console. Every component that could be downgraded and cheapened has been, but the price stayed the same. The Super Slim fills no hole in the market. It's not an upgrade for people who already own a PS3, and it's an inferior product to the similarly priced regular PS3 slim for people looking to buy one for the first time. Being the type who usually naively assumes newer is better, i decided to make my entrance to the PS3 world when i read about the new super slim. I had been thinking about it a while, but it was a bit of an impulse buy being that i didn't research it before i clicked through. I saw newer, smaller, a little bit more hard drive space, more power efficient, bundled with one of the PS3's best games and said "sold." When it arrived i was very disappointed. Everything about the PS3 platform is great. Uncharted 3 is really something. This version of the console is junk though. The casing is cheap plastic. The slide for the CD drive feels like it's going to break being that it's flimsy and you have to use a more force than you would think to slide it shut and have it stay shut. Even the way it was packaged was off putting. Just the console between a couple cardboard holders with some small plastic bags for the controller and power cord. There's nothing about this thing that makes the buyer feel like they've spent their money well. It's just the opposite. Feels like a ripoff. They don't even include an HDMI cable. It's one of those 3 plug composite cables we were using 20 years ago to hook up our VCR's. It wasn't a big deal since HDMI cables are pretty cheap and i already had an extra around the house, but that's kind of the point. They are cheap. Why wouldn't one be included? I would rather not get any kind of cable included instead of being reminded that i'm being stiffed opening that little bag to find a composite cable. fan boys can neg me, but if you are like me and looking to buy in, don't feed Sony's greed. Get the better, cheaper option (regular slim) while it is still on the market and give the finger to the new Super Slim. ... show more
