  • Amazing!
I had to give this purchase a lot of thought. All my friends and family have Xbox's.. But I don't play a lot of the games that they play on there. (CoD, Halo.. that's it lolz) I'm a HUGE RPG gamer and I remember Playstation being the go to system for original RPG games like Dragon Quest and Xenogears and Star Ocean and all the cool JRPG's. SO I got this and I have not regretted it at all. The system itself is sleek and sexy and doesn't get hot at all after hours of playing games. There are a ton of RPG's to play, which is the whole reason I got a PS3 over an Xbox. Now i'm mainly a PC gamer so of course I play all the big game titles like AC3, Fallout, Skyrim and such on my PC.. but this system is perfect for what I got it for. I also got the Move bundle.. it's MUCH better than any Kinect crap i've played lol. I highly suggest buying this system, great starter bundle for any PS fan. Though.. I haven't had any time to jump into Uncharted yet lol. ... show more

  • Bundle of joy!
This is my first PS3. I couldnt pass up on the bundle. It was too good of a deal and plus the model was better and more up to date. Ill say the cons first in my opinion. The sliding door for the disc tray. Not really feeling it because its kinda hard to take the discs out without touching or smudging the other side of the disc. I always handle my discs with care and even though ive found a way to take the discs out without smudging i feel they shouldve had the kind of mechanism the PS2 had. Its easy putting the discs in though. Secondly is overheating. It gets hot way too fast. Like five minutes fast. I dont play for more than an hour at a time if i can help it. My white 360 can stay on for a good amount of hrs and not get hot but thats becuz the fans are bigger. This PS needs bigger fans. Makes it harder for it to be an entertainment console for Blu Ray movie nites. The sound when the game is loading is loud. Not loud enough to wake the household but once thats over it is as quiet as mice. Gr8 console though ... show more

  • The New PS3
When I first ordered this bundle, I only did it because for $20 extra than the cheapest new system, you got 90 extra GB of memory, plus Uncharted 3. I didn't know until I opened the box that it would be a brand new system design all together. The first thing you'll notice is that the body itself is smaller than the second generation PS3s. The plastic material it uses does seem a little bit cheaper and thinner than the older generations, but this is a Playstation, not a car, so that doesn't really tend to matter. The aesthetic design reminds me of a Sega Genesis. The second biggest difference is the disc tray. The disc loading function is no longer a slot-based system like you would have in a car stereo, but rather, the entire right-hand side of the top of the system slides open and you set the disc inside. I really like this because one of the most common hardware errors with all of the game systems is failure of the disc loading mechanics. This should guarantee that won't be an issue. The third biggest change would be the power used by the machine. I'm not sure of the technical specifications, but it runs cooler and quieter than the last iteration of the console, and DEFINITELY runs about 95% quieter than the original PS3, which sounded like a jet engine whether you were playing a game or not. As for the Uncharted portion of the bundle, it's pretty much just the game in its own box, plus some downloadable extras because it's the Game of the Year portion. I haven't gotten to play Uncharted 3 yet, but I'm sure it's great based on reviews and the first two. At the time of purchase, I paid $269 for this. To get this awesome new PS3 plus one of the biggest games of the year felt like a steal. ... show more

  • Does exactly what it's supposed to do, and does it well.
I got this to replace my 40gig PS3 that suffered from constant overheating and finally YLOD for the third time. Having said that, my only concern with the super slim was heat. Well I am happy to report that I've yet to even hear the fans kick on. The system is nice and quiet. Complaints I've heard from others are based on these things... 1. Looks. Ok, I don't know about you but I could care less about that. I got a PS3 to play games, not to look pretty and to be honest the super slim doesn't look bad at all. 2. Top loader. Flimsy? Not at all unless you are slamming it shut and I can't see why anyone would do that. Dusty? Yeah maybe if you leave the sliding door open, which would be your own fault. Noise? Only if you put your head close to it while it loads a disk...which doesn't make sense to do. What else is there to say? Need a new PS3? Buy it, play it, love it. ... show more

  • Hands Down The Best Bang For Your Buck Possible!
Yes, the PlayStation super slim is not the most durable of the PlayStation consoles, but do you have plans of taking it on backpacking trips through the Alps? Or maybe gaming with your friends in the middle of a UFC style cage match? If not, then you most likely have nothing to worry about. If you're like me, a responsible adult who takes care of his electronics, I can't see how you could go wrong with this system. The console is a little less durable than the others, but it comes with a 250 gig hard drive, one of the best games produced for it and a great Blu-ray player. Those three things combined with the price tag was what lured me to it. If you're planning to give this to a small child, then you may want to invest in one of the other PS3 consoles that are a little more sturdy. If you're someone who plans to smash it with a ball-peen hammer from time to time for no real reason, or if you're a person who prefers to spend more money and get less, then this system is not for you (and by the way, you're a moron). If you're someone looking to get a PS3 for a great price and to make your money stretch as far as possible, bang for your buck wise, you can't go wrong with this package! ... show more
