Description

The MT 15 is a commanding two channel amp with balanced aggression and articulation. Powered by 6L6 tubes, the MT 15 has a large, bold sound, so you can dig in heavy with rhythms but also get singing lead tones out of one amp. Whether recording, practicing, writing, or playing a small room, this amp has everything you need. The MT 15’s design started with heavier players in mind, but in the end, it has a lot to offer players of all genres. Like the PRS Archon amplifier, the MT 15 features five gain stages before the Master for full, lush distortion. The gain channel gets big, chunky tone with massive, tight low end, but it never loses its articulate note definition or great lead tone. The clean channel is bright and chimney, good with chords and fingerstyle playing – whether with a pic or not. The clean channel also features a push/pull boost control that adds a little overdrive for old school crunch. No matter what tone you dial in, the MT 15 stays balanced across the spectrum with a sweet, smooth tone that won’t bite your head off. Additional features include an effects loop and bias adjusters that are accessible from the back panel for ease of servicing. Despite its 15 watts, the MT 15 sounds more like 50, so a half power switch that takes the MT to 7 watts is a welcome addition. Bottom line, the amount of features, the hugeness of the sound, and the raw horsepower of the circuit make the MT 15 an impressive lunchbox hero. The MT 15 is Mark Tremonti’s first signature amplifier.

First off i never write reviews but this little gem warrants it...ive been goin back and forth between the mt15 and the evh 5150 el34 and i decided on the mt15 for the versatility with a pristine clean channel...this amp is absolutely brutal and angelic all at the same time..im a gain freak and have it set to noon..the pull boost on the clean channel is on another level...do yourself a favor and put a mxr 10 band eq in the fx loop or a boost in front to tighten things up...it really doesnt need it but boy did it bring this amp to life...btw this thing is unforgivingly loud...you can easily drown out any drummer with this little beast...JUST BUY IT ... show more

  • Wow

Wow, very loud amp, even in 7 watt mode. I like the tone and tightness of the amp a lot. To me it is what a modern high-gain Marshall should sound like. I'm a gain freak and find that about 11 o'clock on the gain knob the tone is gainy enough for me. Bought it for the drive channel but the clean channel has blown me away, I find myself playing clean more because of this. Feels and sounds like a more expensive head. Don't plan on using this at bedroom volumes though, it's simply too loud for that. I love mine! ... show more

I purchased this amp because, I wanted to make the change to the lunchbox/lower wattage amp... My 1st High Gain amp was the Peavey 5150, then I got a Peavey 6505+... After those I went to the Peavey 6505 212 combo... Well, all I can say, is this little beast makes a 6505 look like a 650fool... It takes pedals well (although I’ve not used the effects loop yet), the 6L6s enables this amp to maintain the nice low end (I’m using with a 2X12” - 16ohm cab), and at half power will blow you out of your bedroom and probably get the police called... On full power, it’ll hang in any band situation... Just my opinion but, the 6L6 power tubes are more in line of a 50W-60W amp and this little jewel can hang... There’s not a built in reverb but, there’s no room for one... As far as high gain lunchbox heads go, I have no problem giving up the reverb to keep the bigger 6L6 tubes... It’s a definite difference... Side by sided this MT-15 wins considerably over the 6505MH (and I love Peavey high gain amps)... The major reason, in my opinion, is the fact PRS kept the 6L6s in the MT-15, whereas Peavey replaces the 6L6s with EL84s in their 6505MH lunchbox head & the difference is easily noticed (especially if your an audiophile & tone critic)... Before I bought the MT-15, I wondered why PRS hadn’t built a larger 100W version but, now I know; unless you’re playing arenas daily, there’s no need for a 100W version (maybe a 50W for really large venues)... 🎶🎵 She’s a Bad Mama Jama🎵🎶 ... show more

  • Lot more than you are paying for!
Style: M15 Amplifier Head
This little thing is an absolute beast. I got this amp about 3 months ago and I haven’t played any of my other heads ever since. The lead channel is an absolute dream to play through. It is tight and aggressive and retains clarity and articulation. The clean channel is pristine and surprisingly beautiful considering that this is a high gain amp. It takes pedals very well to. At this price point it is really hard to beat. Just click the buy now button for Christ sake!!! ... show more

  • Sweet little amp
Style: M15 Amplifier Head
Gorgeous clean channel. Couldn't ask for more. Lead channel has more OD than I can possibly use. Had to change V3 tube to 12AU7 to put OD in a range more suitable to my taste but if you like that "screamin" metal sound, this thing has it. Well built, heavy gauge steel construction. Front panel control layout takes some getting "used to" because it works from right to left with the lead channel being the first (on right) followed by clean chan, master for lead and presence. Minor stuff. Nice FX loop also. ... show more

  • HORRIBLE NOISE ISSUES * BE WARNED *
Style: M15 Amplifier Head
This amp has horrible noise issues which apparently are linked to the FX Loop, I am however not using the FX Loop. Just plugging the guitar straight to the amp, on the Clean channel, I get a very loud hiss and static sound -- and the Leah channel is basically impossible to use of how much noise it makes. To barely use the amp, i have to turn my noise gate all the way up to +20dB. I should have bought an EVH instead. Dont make my same mistake. The review is regarding the item and not the seller -- although, as a seller they unfortunately inherit the bad feedback. Perhaps they could have tested the item before shipping. Since I am in Costa Rica, returning items is a pain and extremely expensive to the point where is not worth even trying. They did reply saying I could return the item but as I've just stated, I cant. ... show more

  • A very nice mini head!
Style: M15 Amplifier Head
I picked this amp up as a backup to my 50 Watt PRS Archon combo. I'm using it with the matching PRS 1x12 (GT-75 loaded) cab. My biggest fear were the plentiful rumors of a noisy effects loop on this amp. Maybe that is a problem on earlier versions of this amp, but there are zero signs of any kind of effects loop issue on this one. Don't get me wrong.......the amp IS noisy. I just didn't find the noise specific to the loop. Sound: The amp sounds a LOT like my 50W Archon, with just a little more aggression in both the top and bottom end. Cleans up nicely with the guitar volume. It's obvious Mark Tremonti had a hand in tweaking the sound to perfection. You can dial it back for some bluesy tones, but at it's heart this is a rock/metal machine. You can hear this amp on the latest Alter Bridge album, Walk The Sky. Pros: Seems very well built. Sounds great at low to mid level volume. The amp is VERY neatly laid out on the inside. LOVE the sweet red/blue lights. Very lightweight. Cons: Not all amps are perfect, and this one is no exception. If you like to "feel" your palm mutes you will be disappointed. IMHO the bottom end suffers from too much sponginess and sag at higher band volumes. While backing off the gain helps, it just lacks something (maybe due to the smaller transformer?) While it makes a great bedroom amp, I felt like I was getting buried in the mix at rehearsal volume. Final Thoughts: At the end of the day it went back, as I couldn't get it to "pop" in the mix, and it just didn't have the bottom end that I crave as a rock/metal player. ... show more
