The umbrella is pretty sturdy and good quality material. Large enough to almost fit two people if needed, but not too large. It's not the most compact or lightweight umbrella but for normal day-to-day use it's perfect.

I wanted a sharp looking umbrella that would give coverage when it was needed, and one that would be small enough for my car and/or purse. Thsi one is a little longer than the real short ones, but it has a spring of some sort that pops it in to place when you press the button, and ratchets back down after the button collapses the canopy. I think this will be just right really. it is lightweight and the material will surely dry fast. I have only had it for a little while, and I am hoping it endures the weather and my own clumsiness when the rain decides to surprise me and I begin that process of opening up my umbrella. It's pretty sturdy, pretty much exactly as described. has two layers/vent for the wind, which is what i really needed, and feels wellmade, has standard features like a button to open and close the umbrella, it's pretty much good for everyday travel. You might need a little strength pushing the umbrella and handle together but thats probably it? Works fine pushing it against a wall or something. I think it's worth it. ... show more

This umbrella opens and closes at the push of a button. However, you have to close and fully collapse it before you can open it again. In a perfect world, the umbrella should open even if it is. not fully collapsed. That being said, this is the second umbrella I’ve had like this. The first, from another manufacturer, is impossible to fully close/collapse unless i push it down against the floor or a wall. I am able to fully close/collapse this umbrella with just my hands. I think this umbrella is too large and too heavy for travel. I keep mine in my car and it’s pretty good for that use. ... show more

Holy hell, I needed a good umbrella. I have always bought the innexpensive kind of umbrellas that were ~$10 but they would always break the second winds were over 5mph. I figured might as well buy an umbrella that was more expensive and sturdy than constantly shedding ~$10 on single-use umbrellas. I wanted something comparable to the ShedRain umbrellas but could not justify spending over $50 on them. Queue in one of my good friends who let me borrow this umbrella on a windy and rainy day, and let me just say, I was sold immediately. I tested the umbrella by holding it against the wind, towards it, and it did not buckle on me one bit... NOT ONE BIT. In fact, it was a little scary how much it wouldn't give in to the wind; I thought I was going to be like Mary Poppins for a second. Trust me on this, get yourself this umbrella. The only reason I would buy another is to get a different color because I like ~matching~ my outfits ;) ... show more

Yes, this umbrella is a little heavier than the automatic Totes umbrella (17 ounces vs.13 ounces) but I think it will pay off in sturdiness. The vent will be helpful in strong winds and the deeper arc will help with heavy rain. The arc on this umbrella is 46" whereas the Totes is 42". I compared the other measurements as well: this umbrella is 12 " closed and the center pole opened is 21 1/4" long whereas the Totes is 11' closed and has a 17 1/2" center pole. Both handles are about the same- 2 1/2" and 2 1/4" respectively. The one area in which the Prostorm umbrella could be improved is the velcro strap. The Totes strap is about an inch longer and an inch wider which makes it super easy for one handed wrapping. The longer and thinner strap on the Prostorm tends to get twisted and requires a second hand to wrap it. Overall, an excellent umbrella. ***UPDATED REVIEW***I wrote the review above before using it. IT BROKE WITHIN 5 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. THE SECOND ONE BROKE AFTER ONE USE. The auto-open button wouldn't press so the umbrella would not open. I've never had an automatic umbrella just up and stop working so I only thought I would need to review the features, not whether or not it would continue to work. Too bad because it had a lot of good features, but not the most important one- it needs to work! Guess I'll go back to TOTES. ... show more
