It’s well-made. The structure seems sturdy. The arms should not bend in windy conditions. Even the fastener is easy to pull without worrying about tearing it. The size is compact. I could fit it in a medium large purse.

I had watched a travel video where the girl was carrying a clear umbrella in the rain. I thought, "What a great idea!" You can still see all of the beautiful sites while you're traveling but stay dry. Then I started reading reviews. There were a lot of complaints about the material ripping on clear umbrellas. I do see that this material may not be quite as durable as a regular umbrella. But I'm so glad I purchased this one (a little pricier than some of the others I found but worth it if it's better quality). It held up well during a week long trip in New Orleans where the rain would come and go. So we'd use it, stick it away in my purse, use it, stick it away, etc. It's still in great condition and I'm looking forward to taking it on my next trip ... show more

I got this umbrella for two reasons: 1. I am a commuter in a large city where automobiles try to run over pedestrians on a daily basis. It also rains a lot where I live, and umbrellas were taking away from my visibility to avoid the aforementioned cars. This helps me cross the street and still be able to see and stay dry. The second reason I got this was we were going on a trip where it rains a lot and I didn't want my view impeded by an umbrella. I looked at every clear umbrella there was -- and was amazed that they seemed more expensive than a regular umbrella. I ended up buying two different brands. The Totes one is better in quality and design than the other off brand. The size is perfect for one person, and two really could fit...if you felt like sharing your space. I found it easy to close/open and use the strap to wrap it up when done. My only complaint is that the top of the umbrella, where the spines are, started to rust or leave some sort of brownish/reddish stain where the hinges of the spines come together. It doesn't impede my view as it is the very top...but it makes it look dirty. I am not sure why it did that. We were in a very rainy area and the umbrella was used for multiple days in a row. Perhaps it didn't get enough time to dry out between uses. ... show more

    • Love it! Sturdy and works well. Design may a little different, but here's how to work it.

Exactly what I wanted and better than I expected. There are two keys to liking this umbrella. First know that when you open it, the sliding mechanism doesn't lock into place. It stays up by constant tension. Second, to close the umbrella you must grab the sliding mechanism by the lower grooved edge and firmly pull it down and then click it into the handle. It clicks in and stays in. But if I pause on the way down it won't click in or stay closed. It also won't click in or stay closed if I try to close the umbrella by pushing down on the center top. That's it! It works great and it sturdy. Big enough for protection from rain without running other people off the sidewalk. Some reviewers have complained about the lack of custom storage sleeve. It would be difficult to slide a plastic thing into a sleeve, but it's easy to put into a 1 gallon ziplock bag. Just put it in a little on the diagonal, squish out the air and zip. ... show more

I ordered this Umbrella for our trip to Nashville, I was bummed it was showing rain the whole 5 days we were going to be there but nothing was going to stop me from walking down honky tonk bar hopping. We had a blast, I already have a large clear Umbrella but it's too big for traveling and having to shove it somewhere when you go indoors is a hassle. This one is small compact has a wrist handle, good quality doesn't feel like cheap plastic and a good price. The size is an average umbrella coverage, kept me dry except for my feet but no umbrella covers all. And best of all I could look up at all the city lights walking down Broadway and not miss a thing. ... show more
