Completely smooth casting and retrieving right out of the box! Been a fan of Daiwa baitcasters, had a few but this is the best yet! First day out caught a big cod and a keeper fluke, paired it with a Dark Matter Psychedelic custom jigging rod. Although pricier than the Lexa, the Prorex is worth it!

    • NOT THE HIGH SPEED GEAR RATIO - still a great product
After some limited use, I like the product but was annoyed that I paid $300 for a reel without the high speed 8.1 gear ratio........ The advertised picture has the 8.1 (highest speed) but they ship you the 7.1 gear ratio which is the medium speed. It may turn out that I like the 7.1 better but need more time using it. ... show more

Second daiwa reel for musky fishing and neither have lasted even half of a season. Cast smooth and works great, until it doesn’t. Customer service is decent but a pain when you have to send a brand new reel in multiple times. Personally won’t buy another daiwa reel
