Let me start by saying, I am not a professional and I have no training or expertise in scissors for professional use, this is simply my amateur's at-home use review. I have naturally curly hair and over the years, I've found that it's difficult to find a hair stylist that knows how to handle curly hair so I learned how to do it on my own. That said, I haven't always used a quality tool, and figured it was time to make a small investment. I was actually quite anxious to give them a try! The care in which they were packaged is top notch, VERY NICE! And using them...like a dream compared to the cheap junk I've been using all these years. Because I am not a complete animal, I have a professional hair stylist who colors my hair and has been doing a bang up job of it for 5-6 years now, and who is always awesome at giving me tips for cutting my hair. So I decided to ask her opinion so I could offer a little more...she explained that she uses $1200 scissors with blades constructed in Japan and to wrap it up in layman's terms: those expensive, extreme, high quality tools need to hold an edge and have the right balance to prevent hand cramps and eventually carpal tunnel syndrome so they have to be ergonomic, the movement should be very fluid & balanced and the weight distribution needs to be on point. Basically, if you're cutting your own hair at home, these are ideal. The blade is decent quality and will hold its edge for years to come as long as you keep them clean and use them once a week maximum (I won't even use them but once a month). Overall these are very nice and perfect for home cuts. I can already tell the difference in my hair cuts. And they look so much better than the cheap ones from my husband's beard trimmer kit that were probably doing more harm than good. Bottom Line: These scissors are very nice, a well worth it investment and PERFECT for my intended use. Side Note: I cannot say whether or not they would be ideal in a professional setting to be used for 40 hours a week.

I am not a professional hair stylist or trained to cut hair whatsoever, but have been cutting my 4 year old's hair his whole life so far and decided I should get some real scissors! I hope my review can at least be useful to other untrained parents who want to try out more official/nice quality scissors. The ones I was using were not smooth and the metal was lighter, though sharp, did not feel smooth and I could not use them for slide cutting without pulling my child's hair -- I also felt like the tips were too sharp for my comfort near my kid's head and face. These scissors come in a lovely and giftable box with maintenance instructions, a polishing cloth and the box is reusable with a snap that holds the scissors in place. These seem to be a great pair of scissors, they feel like a nice weight and are comfortable to grip. The cheaper scissors hurt my hand after about 5 minutes of use. These do not, and they give a very satisfying sort of snipping feeling when you use them. Most importantly, they cut my child's hair very nicely. They have a rounded tip and are not too long. And they are quite sharp and smooth--I don't know how to go about getting scissors sharpened when I need to do that eventually, but for now these are nice and sharp, and noticeably better in ever way than the kids haircutting scissors I was using before! Very happy with these. One note is that they were not snapped into the case when I opened the box and I did not realize there was a plastic sleeve over the blades, so when I picked them up I accidentally grabbed that sleeve and they slid right out and fell onto the floor. Oh boy. I hope I did not damage them already - please do not make the same mistake I did!

They say not to judge a book by its cover, but in this case, this product, Professional 6" Thinning Shears offered by YASAKA is truly an exception to the rule. Not only is the packaging well made and designed, you can tell the quality of everything you see is top notch. I was impressed with the clear vinyl protector that comes with the shears. It prevents accidental injury in the event the shears are dropped. You can just feel the shears that their quality is superb. It is sharp and of good weight made of a premium cobalt alloy stainless steel as noted in the description. These shears are precision made and super sharp. The finish on them is precise. It is notable that the quality of manufacture of this item rivals and exceeds those of a higher price and name brand. The shears fit you index finger and thumb just right. It is snug and not too tight. It can be used at any angle with ease. The shock absorber prevents metal to metal contact and provides quiet operation of the shears. The ergonomic handle makes holding the shears for long periods of time a pleasure. Keep in mind, these shears are CNC machined finish with 26 toothed angled antlers that makes thinning a breeze. You also have a third finger rest for better relaxed precision cutting. The fine detail of the CNC machined screw allows you to make fine tuned adjustments. Overall, these shears are designed for long term use and to provide clean and precise cuts day in and day out. We've been using them daily without any issues at all. Very pleased with the brand, the quality, and value for the money. Highly recommend.
