It’s plastic and has a lot of pieces. I think it will serve the purpose (haven’t used it yet). Obviously with plastic you have to handle with care so it doesn’t crack.

Used it for the first time for a outdoor birthday party. Had a mixture of fruits, veggies and some shrimp. Love the dividers and the lids really help so the food does not stay exposed. A good way to keep you little hors de vours cold in the outdoors. Just add ice to the bottom. It is acrylic so will break but seems sturdy enough. The only hiccup is the sections are not very deep. Looks great with shrimp cocktail.

Style: Cold Bowl On Ice
I purchased the cold ice bowl for outdoor events. I needed a container that 1) could have ice to keep fruits/vegetables chilled and 2) that had a cover. This bowl definitely does that job. HOWEVER, the major design flaw of this bowl is that the “bowl” part of this or the section that holds the food (whatever you want to call it) is NOT separate from where the ice goes. There is a small plastic divider that goes underneath the plastic compartment dividers. You cannot change the melted ice and keep your food in this bowl. You have to empty out all the food/dip to change the ice. If your reason for buying this bowl is for the ice compartment, I highly recommend that you don’t buy it. Save yourself the headache and buy something that has a separate compartment for the ice. If you don’t want this for the ice, it’s a great looking bowl with dividers and a cute little dip cup in the middle. ... show more

I forgot to take pictures the day of the party, but these trays worked perfectly. They were a good size and help a reasonable amount of ice. I ordered two, and One of my lids came broken, but I was able to return it and get a replacement quickly. I’d recommend these.
