    • Superb design!
This is the most versatile appetizer tray that I've ever come across. It can hold plenty of ice to keep perishables cold, the tight-fitting lids will definitely keep insects off your food and the bottom section can be used without ice and inner trays as a 3-segment chip or pretzel tray - plus it rotates ala lazy-susan. A bonus that isn't mentioned in the description is that when the center dip bowl is removed, there is a hole in the center large enough to a accommodate even the biggest umbrella poles! I use this tray in the center of a patio table with the umbrella going through it, and the lazy-susan feature means that my guests don't have to leave their seats to get at the snacks they want. I line the bottom trays with either clear plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and clean-up's a breeze without having to remove the umbrella to bring the bottom tray inside to clean it (although if spills occur, cleaning's a must!) One thing to be aware of is that the box states that this tray, save for the dip cup, is made from polystyrene; prolonged exposure to sunlight tends to yellow and break down this particular plastic over time, so I intend to keep mine covered with something opaque when leaving it outside and unused. These same trays are available from certain big-box home furnishing stores, but as far as I know only Amazon.com has the model with lids, and for the same price as those retailers charge for the lidless model. I wouldn't consider getting one of these without the lids, as this allows it be used outside as well as inside and thus vastly increases it's utility... score one for Amazon! All in all, an excellent design, well-executed and reasonably priced. I would be completely willing to pay more for it if the manufacturer considered making it from acrylic instead of polystyrene (acrylic holds up better somewhat better), but that's a minor issue. God willing, we will be enjoying its use on our patio this summer, and many summers to come. ... show more

    • Excellent for foods that need to be kept cold during a party
This product was surprisingly sturdy and well made. Yes, $30 is pricey but you get what you pay for. The quality is definitely a plus and it DOES keep food cold.........you simply need to watch the ice and change more frequently if surving outside in the summer heat. So far, I have only used it indoors. I love the 3-compartment covers to use to keep foods even colder, especially if used outdoors to keep insects off too. I also like that the tray rotates easily and when not in use I keep it stored in the original box to keep it safe from damages or scratches. I will definitely purchase more Prodyne products to add to my collection of serving pieces. It goes beautiful with my crystal glassware too. I do hand wash it and do not use the dishwasher to keep the clear finish lasting for many years. Was able to keep fruit, cheese and dip both cool and covered. Great for indoor use also. Compartments hold a lot. Snack compartments and dip bowl are removable so you can fill them up with snacks in advance of a party. When you're ready to serve, just fill the bottom with ice and pop in the serving trays.     • Nice serving tray
A good way to keep you little hors de vours cold in the outdoors. Just add ice to the bottom. It is acrylic so will break but seems sturdy enough. The only hiccup is the sections are not very deep. Looks great with shrimp cocktail.

This is a great product for keeping cold things cold. Used a Christmas to keep shrimp cold. Keep them very cold all day. Great idea works great. Unique design. Trays have small slits in bottom to allow more efficient transfer cold cold air. But also allows you to put two items normally stored in juice in same tray. For example I put olives and pickles in same tray and the excess liquid just seeped down into the ice and did not intermix. Very cool. Would recommend for anyone needing a cold tray. ... show more

This is a great product. I fill the ice compartment partially with ice cubes, then fill in around those with crushed ice. It stayed cold for a LONG time (3-5 hours) on an 85 degree day. It's perfect for anything that isn't "juicy", in other words veggies and that kind of thing. The compartments are vented, so if you put anything at all drippy in them, it goes thru onto the ice. (I had marinated some shrimp and the marinade ended up in the ice compartment.) It isn't a huge deal because there are three different ice compartments, each with two vented trays above them, if that makes sense. I just made sure that the two upper portions that drained into that ice compartment both contained the shrimp, so there wouldn't be any flavor contamination. (I hope that made sense!) Anyway - I highly recommend this product and I am definitely going to purchase more Prodyne acrylic on-ice serving pieces. I purchased a salad bowl that had an ice compartment from a local store and the quality was no where near what I received from Prodyne. ... show more

    • Not just for Appetizers! Gan be used to grow Wheat Grass
I have been using these for a very different purpose than intended. I have been using them to grow wheat grass. water in the base and seeds (wheat berries) in the trays for healthy juicing. Works well. If your seeds fall through the slits you can buy so nylon insect screen from the hardware store and line the trays for less than a dollar to stop them falling through. I use a knife along the bottom of the tray to cut the roots off then the grass seed mat pulls right out of the tray and the mesh screen seperates easily and is reusable. rinse it all off and use it again. This version with lids help to keep it humid and warm until the grass is tall enough that it pushes the lids up. ... show more

I bought this to use at a daytime party that was going to be extended. I was concerned about keeping items served cool for an extended period of time and this gadget was perfect. Three different sections made it easy to separate items as well as replace ice, break down and clean. And the cherry on top is the Lazy Susan aspect. I look forward to using again! ... show more
