This jack is safe and reliable. All you need to do is jack it up once with no load on it and release that pressure. After that, when you unscrew the oil fill plug, it should hiss to let out the trapped air. Jack it up one or two pumps very slowly. The oil should immediately try to rush out of it's at the right level which mine was. If it takes more than two pumps to rush out of the plug the oil level is too low. After you check the level you can screw the plug back on with a flat head screw driver and it's ready for work for the year. ... show more

I gave this a 1 star because I can't do less. It blew out the first time I tried it. Nothing heavy or weird just raising the corner of my mini van, not even trying to get the tire off the ground. Complete waste of money!
