  • Fast
Upgrading the prop to Oxidean Marine's 4519 CNC aluminum prop added 8 mph for me on GPS. It tickles 60mph just with a prop swap. Next season is going to be an Oxidean Marine 4082 motor and their 200A ESC. This thing on 8S will hopefully hit 75. It's fun and fast, throws a huge rooster tail. Turns on a dime if its on plane. I did need to upgrade the cooling system on it. It ran too hot for my liking on stock setup. I got bigger tubing with an inner diameter of 4mm, ordered a "Y" splitter to put in before the ESC, then had 2 tubes going into and out of the ESC directly. It dropped temps quite a bit - like 30 degrees if not at full throttle for the whole run. ... show more

  • BEST RTR RC BOAT PERIOD!
I watched plenty of youtube reviews before purchase And they all give great tips on pre-run and post run maintenance The self right feature is the main reason why I love this boat! Its fast over 50mph I got plenty of batteries because you only get about 5 minutes of run time but its worth it! Love this boat so much that I purchased both colors! I suggest that you get a Pro Boat Horizon Harbor for emergency recovery its also a fun detailed boat with plenty of run times, lights and optional water cannons. Thank you OG Paperboy 77 ... show more

  • lots of fun but do your homework
The media could not be loaded. For an Amazon buy, this thing is actually good. New buyers will need to learn the battery systems.....short version is - you can use 2 batteries to make a max of about 22 volts. 28 volts and the motor will not run - ask me how I know. The Mah is basically the capacity...buy nothing less than 6000 or 6800. you can use the 14.4v batteries but only one. you'll need an $8 jumper to do that. Less weight = more speed. Comes with marine grease, you'll need 2 10 mm monkey wrenches to pull and grease the shaft after a few runs.....need to do that maintenance. Prop....if you do strong batteries, you need a bigger prop. The stock one kinda sux. I bought an upgraded one from Oxidean (blue)....the difference is substantial....so much so, that I wont put the stock one back on. Trim tabs......sigh.....this could have been better designed. I didn't mess with them much other than to pull them up a little to get more of the boat out of the water...less stable but fast as hell with the right batteries and prop. flipping over, this thing flips over a lot, especially with speed and waves. If you cram 2 big batteries in there for long fast run times, the boat can have a hard time flipping over. the boat does a decent job staying dry inside....its a boat, its gonna get wet. the grease on the drive shaft also helps keep water out but some will get in. It doesn't cost anything to turn the thing upside down to get water out. In the video I posted, that's dual 6s-12.4v china special batteries. they were 80 bucks for the pair and with the blue prop I saw just over 50mph....as you can see its hard to control with waves at that speed. the crash at the end, sent the boat about 6 feet under water as it went in nose first. it was spectacular. I will caution you - do not run the boat at that speed so close to you or other people. a small wave can/did send this thing flying and can seriously hurt some one. That said, buy a bunch of batteries to test out the difference. There's guys on YT that go over everything mentioned but in greater detail. I binge watched a few guys to learn and it greatly helped. I would categorize this boat as a solid middle of the line build and the price point reflects that. That's my review - You're welcome ... show more

  • All Bad .com
This is my first Amazon review. I've been buying stuff on here for a couple years now Some good things and some bad. But never have I been more disappointed with anything more than this boat. I opened the box and read the entire instruction book first. Nowhere did it say I needed to lube up the driveshaft before I used it right out of the box. It did say I needed to lube it with the grease pretty much after every time I used it. But it did not say it came out of the box needing grease before I used it the first time. With that said, you should know where this is going. So the driveshaft overheated and melted the plastic sleeve inside the stuffing tube which heated up and melted the support that holds the stuffing tube which ended up causing the stuffing tube to turn with the motor and ended up honing out a large hole in the hull where the rubber gasket "Was" that holds the water out. Even after that I still wasn't angry at the manufacturer. I took the blame. But trying to fix that has been a 2 week nightmare filled with waiting for parts, spending all my free time after work repairing, going to the water to try it out and being embarrassed when it only goes 5mph and then starting all over again. Just in parts alone I have spend about $250 including a new ESC because the first one melted because of the terrible "water cooling " system. Also the boats "self righting system" sucks and only worked the first day. I had to replace the fried receiver because the antenna came off and their stupid idea to put a tube that goes from the outside where the water is directly into the inside of the "water resistant" box that protects the receiver from getting wet. In short... if you lose the antenna in the water then they made the hole into a funnel to directly divert water into the spot that needs to be dry. Pretty dumb. I have now spend close to $1000 and for that I had one 7 minute run the first day. Every day after that was not fun. Just frustrating and embarrassing. This boats designer should be fired. ... show more

  • Dissatisfied
Very nice boat , but it seems they have issues that need to be resolved before they leave the factory.
