  • One of the most enjoyable experiences
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
If you’re a fan of PoP or metroidvania games, you have to try PoP the lost crown. Easily one of the most enjoyable games I have played for a while. Gameplay is super smooth and addicting. Puzzles are enjoyable. Great visuals, and the storyline is engaging.

  • A great metroidvania
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
This game is FUN! I had a blast with this game. It is a true metroidvania and any fan of the genre will be very pleased with the game as I was. The game play is smooth and easy to pick up. Combat is fluid and does not take long to get the hang of. The platforming was engaging without being overly difficult, and there is even a function built into the game that you can skip parts of the platforming sections that might be too difficult. I didn't even realize that was an option until way late in the game but I didn't use it even then because you miss out on collectibles. I think I maybe used it once or twice when backtracking trying to get somewhere quicker, but mostly I just did the platforming, it's not that onerous. The story is not that ground breaking but it kept me entertained and wanting to know more. On the whole I was very pleased with the game and it made me keep coming back for more until I got the Platinum. I would recommend to anyone who likes the metroidvania genre. ... show more

  • Fun combat, fun exploration
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
Underrated metroidvania with a fun flashy combat system that can get quite tricky, demanding your attention.

  • Good game
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
Older style game play, flashy artisty, good puzzles, and great controls. Story was okay. Didn't like the comic book like story telling and would have liked just auto play cutscenes or quick time events but really a small downsize to the overall fun game.

  • Prince of Persia. Wow.
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
This game blew my mind. I grabbed it on sale and heard good things, but this was close to a masterpiece for the metroidvania genre. It took me around 30 hours to beat while doing some side content. The game has very challenging moments, but not including possible. You can always overcome things and if you need to go get upgrades then you have that option. So much exploration, curiosity, mystery. The gameplay is so buttery smooth and combat is extremely satisfying with combos that are not difficult to learn, but difficult to master. The story was really intriguing and I felt hooked all the way to the end. Do not sleep on this game. ... show more

  • Great platforming and combat
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
If you're a fan of metroidvania type games, this one is great. Honestly, even an RPG fan would enjoy it. The sense of progression and combat systems felt amazing and the story was great too.

  • I am an avid 2D side scroller fan
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
For my favorite genres is the 2D size growers. This game is amazing. I have played all the old 2D Castlevania games in Metroid games and found this game to be the most modern update of those games. It had all the elements of searching an extensively wide castle and interesting combat with different levels of difficulties depending on where you are in the castle. The graphics are amazing. I wish there were more games like this. ... show more

  • A bit too old school for me
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
In a lot of ways, this game is a throwback to the platformers of many years ago. In some ways that is good, but in a lot of ways, this is also a bit of a disappointment. Graphically, the game is ok, but the flat 2d dimensional feel of the game really doesn’t do the game justice on the graphical power of the PS5. I would have preferred a 3D version or at least 3d-like version that gives the illusion of dimension. Nearly straight out of the gate, you have an early boss or semi-boss fight that is surprisingly difficult for a middle-aged gamer like me. The game moves at a quick pace, but I found myself getting bogged down with the difficult fights that seem nearly constant on normal difficulty. I ended up toning down the difficult level to keep myself from being frustrated. It is smooth and quick paced, but the 2D style tends to feel limiting to me in terms of combat. For those that enjoy this style of platforming, then most likely you will enjoy this game as well. Repeating various sections of the same levels also gets a bit old. For me, it is not as fun as I hoped and feels a bit too old school for me. It is not a terrible game by any means, just not exactly my favorite style of gaming and a bit difficult for me personally. 3 stars ... show more
