Excellent CB radio for beginners. No complicated menus or multifunction buttons. The only thing you need to know that you have to look at the book is if you push the channel up and down button simultaneously, it will go into scan only took 30 seconds to learn that one.

    • This little radio really gets out
This radio puts big radios to shame, we bought this for our Rzr and my son’s radio went out in his Peter bilt. He was talking to us from over a couple miles away. Wow!

It's a great radio, but don't let the FM fool you. It's very noisy, and you hear scratchy crossover from the AM side.

The President Ted is a nice basic radio that offers reliability with a few basic features. It's an entry level radio best suited for recreational or light commercial use. It's not going to be the best receiving or transmitting radio, but for about $55 you'll have a predictably efficient unit at a decent value. It's a simple design that's easy to use for anyone with common sense. It's easy to switch channels, adjust the squelch (or use the auto-squelch), alternate between AM and FM, or use some of the other basic features. The internal speaker works pretty well, or you can use a plug-in external speaker. This radio transmits reasonably well with any decent antenna. The clarity on the radio isn't phenomenal and there isn't an RF gain function, but for the price it's still pretty good. The radio comes with bare wire ends with fused protection. I'd recommend hardwiring with a clean ground to get less noise interference instead of using a 12v accessory plug. This is a solid compact radio that doesn't take up a lot of room. It's easy to read the LED display and perform all the functions. Aside from an antenna, this comes with everything you need to get started with for your vehicle or UTV. For a basic radio it's made really well. If you need a more commercial radio for business purposes then you might want to look at the President Thomas model or some of their other offerings.     • No noise blanker
I liked the auto squelching and scanning but the lack of a noise limiter killed it for me as I was getting engine noise. I know I probably could have installed it better going directly to battery but the Uniden 510 has a noise limiter. I'd rather have that feature than FM. President does make a good product though. I can see getting another model one day. ... show more

    • Not a keeper.
The amount of noise is unbearable. Auto-squelch was no help at all. Don't get me wrong, I love Presidents products. They make awesome CB radios, this one just doesn't do it for me. If it had options to reduce noise like my Randy II FCC, it would be a major improvement.

Worked. But lots of back feed through the engine. Needs a noise cancel on it. Never had a radio with so much back feed. Going to try and send it back.

    • Nice little radio for the Jeep
Got this little radio to replace a smaller one that quit on us a while back when we were out on an off-roading trip. I set this new one up in the car to test out and it fits real good without getting in the way since it's so compact. We live in a small town with a bunch of truck stops, so I tested it out and got someone on the line right away, which was pretty cool. I feel like it has enough features that it doesn't seem cheap, even though the price was right. It’s a solid choice if you just want something simple to communicate with. I feel pretty good about it so far, but I haven't used it for a long time yet to know for sure how it holds up. ... show more
