  • Good for the price
Color: Drifted Gray Style: 60" Wide
The hall tree arrived in a heavy package, well protected, undamaged. Many pieces and parts, but all accounted for. It took a couple hours to assemble. Well constructed, the pieces fit together nicely. It would be helpful if the company labeled the pieces to correspond to the assembly instructions! As is, you need to identify each piece visually based on the illustrations in the instructions. Once assembled, it looks good in our hallway and seems sturdy. Great for keeping shoes, coats, and hats in order. It's a particle board material, so may be less durable than solid wood over time, but given that, it's a good buy. ... show more

  • Great value
Color: Brown Style: 60" Wide
I was a little nervous about buying this because of the reviews regarding no labels on parts. I was concerned that it would be a nightmare to put together. I am so glad that I decided to take the chance because this was the best coat-shoe rack I found for the price. It was not hard to figure out the pieces and the instructions were easy to follow. My daughter has no closet and very little extra storage room so I wanted to get her a larger rack. This is a very nice size unit and as you can see, it holds a lot. You can fit a lot of shoes, coats, backpacks and anything else you need to put somewhere. It is very sturdy and looks great. The color is on point and actually matches my daughter’s cabinets. I am very pleased with this product and definitely recommend it. ... show more

  • Good Enough Product, Terrible Instructions, and Mediocre Manufacuring...
Color: Brown Style: 60" Wide
So, to start off I acknowledge that this piece cost less than $300 at the time of purchase. With that being added as a counter-balance to the flaws; let us begin. To start, the pieces are sturdy, look good and are clean out of the box. There was none of that nasty particle foam that plagues the immediate area like nuclear radiation as soon as you open the box. The parts were not bunched or stacked in any specific way as to allow pulling a part and assembling out of the box, you have to pull everything out and then start piecing it together. This is not a big complaint, but rather something a manufacturing engineer should have considered in the packaging process before EVT-2 or 3 (Engineering Validation Test - Revision 2 or 3, some of the earliest tests done before presenting a new product). Upon removing all of the parts and referencing the instructions, it was made apparent that none of the parts were stickered or identifiable in any way besides relying on expert-level Lego building from when I was a kid. Equipped with that knowledge (and 10 years in manufacturing), I was able to determine the orientation and identities of each of the parts. This is obviously TERRIBLE Poke-Yoke for the customer. ('Poke-Yoke' is the Toyota Method of 'Fail-Proofing' the manufacturing process e.g. when attempting to assemble two incorrect parts when a "Hard Poke-Yoke" is in place, there will usually be a misalignment of holes or attachment points so you can't assemble the parts in the incorrect order. A "Soft Poke-Yoke" - the process that was supposed to be in place - would use stickers or labels, but if the preventative measures are ignored the parts can still be joined incorrectly). In short, there is nothing but your intellect and trial & error to prevent you from assembling this thing wrong. Most customers haven't worked in developing products, running manufacturing, or had to throw away a year's salary in material costs because an engineer screwed up. I would proceed with caution when assembling. From there I was relegated to a jumbled bag of hardware that nonetheless contained only as many pieces as were necessary to assemble, not a single extra screw, nail or dowel was there (not crucial, but still...come on! Talk about a recipe for customer dissatisfaction when a single, crucial screw is missing and then you can put this behemoth together and it's stuck in the living room!) Upon fitting the hardware, there were several parts that the CNC Router did not reach the depth that it was supposed to bore to (a phenomena I have seen several times, but dimensions are supposed to be checked regularly). This left me to hand drill a few holes to-depth so hardware would fit and others I just jammed the mating pieces together as best I could. After the final assembly, checking the squareness and mating edges I was strangely impressed that the pieces culminated in a functional, appealing piece of furniture. Less the wiles of poor QC (Quality Control), marginal process engineering, corporate stinginess with supplies, and the lack of part identification; the piece is satisfactory and sturdy. I understand that my review may be seen as "nit-picking" (whatever a 'nit' is), overly technical, and just generally surly, but hopefully it lends other buyers a more realistic expectation of the piece and what they may be facing when they order this. Don't expect high quality manufacturing, good QC, or to be able to follow the instructions without a little bit of frustration. But, once you're done and have sacrificed your blood, sweat and tears, the results are good... not great! But good. ... show more

  • JUST PRESS GO!
Color: White Style: 60" Wide
We just moved and I was looking for a hall tree to beneficially fill the huge space between our two front doors. I researched for so long and all the hall trees I found were so short that they would have looked ridiculous in the space. I finally found one from Wayfair that was tall enough AND wide enough for the space. I ordered it, but it kept getting delayed and Wayfair is a PIA to deal with, so I finally got fed up and cancelled the order. I decided to come to Amazon to see if they had the same one. They sure did but then, THIS one popped up. On top of looking a bit more functional for our needs, it had thousands of reviews opposed to the 8 reviews the other one had. I researched, I measured our space over and over again, I overthunk it to death, and then I finally pressed go and I'm SO glad I did! As many reviews stated, the parts are not labeled, but I had zero issue deciphering what was what. In fact, I even got it all right on the first try (and I'm notorious for flipping things and having to take them apart again). All the pieces were there and there were no marks or blemishes. Just a teeny tiny dent on the very top which, unless you're 7' with a magnifying glass, isn't noticeable at all. I'm 5'5", 120lbs and put this together in about 2.5 hours. My 13 year old helped me lift it up off the floor and we were super careful not to put excess weight on the connections so as not to tear them out when we put it upright. We got it! I hammered the nails in (sparingly so as not to risk going through the backing - it's pretty easy to see where you should and shouldn't nail if you take your time and think about it), stuck a couple of pieces of cardboard under each side and slid that puppy against the wall. And then I realized.... shit I was supposed to put the shoe slots in BEFORE nailing the back on. A few chin rubs later and not to worry! The two front pieces that go along the bench edges are not nailed on. You just push them on, so I pulled them off and stuck the shoe slots in and then pressed them on again. This is a SUPER convenient feature because I decided to only use half the shoe slots, but if I decide I want more, I can easily rearrange without taking all the nails out and backing off! I was also really nervous about tipping because we're renting and can't drill holes in the wall (not to mention my 6yr old and I are official bulls in a china shop), but the bottom is wide and heavy enough that, unless you stand on it and hang from the hooks, it's not really going anywhere. Even with our baseboards being too tall for the cut outs, it still feels ok. Overall, it's totally worth it for the price. If you are deep in the research process, trust me, your search is over! Measure your space one last time, then press go and enjoy your amazing new shoe tree when it comes (on time when it says it will)! ... show more
