I bought this cabinet for the DVD storage, in spite of some negative reviews about the doors not holding up over the long haul. It went together nicely, though the instructions are somewhat lacking in making it clear which sides are the finished edges. I read some reviews with complaints that it's not "real wood." Well duh! I've had plenty of other particle board furniture and this one seems pretty solid to me. Door storage - there are no straps to hold your DVDs on the door shelves. If you don't want them to fly off when you open to door, you will have to pack each row tightly. Assembly: I was able to assemble this myself. It took me a couple of hours. A mid-length phillips screwdriver and hammer (to attach the back cover) was all I needed. Keep in mind this cabinet is quite heavy, so it will pay to put it together near it's final location unless you have some extra help to move it later. For me the doors were the hardest part to install. They are quite heavy and therefore hard to hold in place while attaching the hinges to the cabinet. After nearly wrecking the screw holes by mounting all the hinges on the doors first as instructed, I found mounting the middle hinge on the cabinet and the other two on the door worked best for me. The unit comes with a strap (zip tie) and mounting brackets to attach it to a stud in the wall. At first I wasn't sure why this was needed, but I remembered an old VHS cabinet we had with door storage. When both doors were opened, the unit would tip forward. This unit seems pretty stable, even with the doors loaded, so I didn't install the strap. I suppose if the doors were loaded and the inside was left empty, there could be a tip hazard, so you may want to use the mounting strap. Packaging: The cabinet came in two very sturdy boxes with sturdy foam in the corners for extra protection. While the all the pieces were all undamaged, they were covered with particle board sawdust. It was everywhere, on every board, and was quite the mess to clean up. At first I was worried that this would mean the unit was going to be in bad shape, but surprisingly, it was fine (see photos). While I don't speak Spanish, I did notice the instructions were in English and French only. It's possible someone who speaks neither could still assemble the cabinet from the pics, but I'm glad I didn't have to do that. ... show more

The unit arrived in 9.8 out of 10 cosmetic condition. A center brace piece was not put in my box so I had to call their customer service. The customer service was extremely fast and easy to reach and promptly took care of sending the missing brace to me. The hardware was top notch and instructions were super easy to follow. Only a screwdriver and a hammer were required for assembly. Assembly took approximately 40 minutes. The only things that I consider to be wrong with this unit are fixable with a little bit more lumber, some glue, and some additional screws. What I think is wrong is that for my use, it needs additional strength added to the very top board where the TV will sit. The TV and stand that I am mounting on top of this console added together weigh 75 lbs. The top board, being made of 5/8" thick particle board and spanning 46" with one center brace under the middle will allow too much sag and warping down the road. So I will add solid wood ( not particle board ) braces where more strength is needed. I will have to paint the boards black to match as well. Hopefully, I can update this posting in the future to add photos of my mods. That way if some others are interested they can see how to modify theirs for additional strength as well. I would have given the console unit 5 stars if they had the strength already built into it. But, since their low price, ease of assembly, and customer service are all top notch, they should receive 4.8 stars from me. ... show more

I’ve had my eye on this for a long time and I finally decided to purchase, but I may have over hyped it in my head. When I received it and pulled all of the pieces out of the box I noticed a lot of little scratches or imperfections in the finish and some of the spray foam they used to pack the box stuck to the finish and I couldnt even get all of the foam residue off without ruining the finish. I tried water, rubbing alcohol, and goo gone or goof off all with little luck. I received two sets of the page 3/4 instructions but never page 1/2 so I had to assemble the first half “blind”. Everything is pre drilled and it’s relatively intuitive as to which screws go where. I did have to redo some of it because of the missing instructions. Eventually got it all assembled and it looks pretty good, I can live with it, but you can still see some of the foam residue and imperfections in the finish. The other thing that’s slightly disappointing is the left door doesn’t quite close well enough for both of the magnets to grasp the metal piece when the door is closed. I might have to fashion some form of spacer to help that situation out. In summation this does exactly what I wanted it to do, but I’m somewhat disappointed in the quality of what I received. If I had to do it all over again I’m not sure I’d repurchase but I can live with it. ... show more
