  • Nice dirt, doesn't go too far though
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
The 4 quart bag is smaller than I thought it would be for the price, but it's still a nice, well-balanced soil. I still added some more pearlite, and some orchid mulch to help with water drainage and aeration. I love that the dirt is dry upon arrival, and I wish that all potting soils were sold this way, not only because it's easier to handle and lift, but because I feel like there's less of a chance for an increase in harmful bacterial growth or parasite reproduction while it waits to be used (I've had some name brand soils almost kill my plants before, probably because of this.) For the price, this isn't much dirt, and it didn't get me too far because I had quite a few plants that needed to be repotted, but seeing as how there was only just enough dirt for one pot, it'll be the perfect experiment to see just how well the plant in that pot grows and thrives. There may be a big difference-- there might not... only time will tell, and I'm curious to find out. ... show more

  • Lightweight soil, just right for indoors
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
With a lot of cuttings to plant, I needed to try a good indoor soil that would help hold water. This soil, with the peat and the vermiculite already mixed in, was easy to work with and has been well received by the pothos and spider plant cuttings I was potting. There were no little bugs (which I sometimes get when I buy potting soil at the local box store) and the mixture of soil and additives was clean and even. The bag wasn't super big, but because of the moisture-retaining mixture, it does not compact into the pot like other soils do. I potted 3 different cuttings in two 7" to 8" pots and I still have about third of a bag left. I swear it seemed to be more full than I expected (maybe they compress it some in packaging, to transport as much as possible in a small bag). The price is good for a premixed bag like this and my plants did not seem to show any shock from the transplant to this soil. ... show more

  • 4 quarts doesn’t seem like a lot
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
This soil arrived intact and as described in a clear zip lock bag with paper label insert. Bag is reasonably thick, but concerned if storing in shed that critters might chew into it, so keeping it sealed tub for now. Intend to use sparingly to start seeds next year. Kind of expensive for size (not savvy with dirt to know what 4 quarts looks like). Buying dirt always seems like a rip off since one can just get it outdoors, but I have to admit from using some name brand potting soils, they do make a difference in nutrients and water retention. Since the packaging is clear, I can actually see the dirt, and it appears to be a good blend as described on its label, so expecting success with what I plant. ... show more

  • Potting Mix: good mix, but expensive for the quantity
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
As soil, this is a nice mix - fluffy, light, good balance. It's pretty expensive for the size of the package, though. I'm including a picture with a 1.5-gallon watering can for scale.

  • Very fine texture, no nutrients?
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
The product photos and basic descriptions are identical for this company's seed starter mix and potting soil, so I ordered both to compare. The product photos turn out to be of the potting soil, which has noticeably bigger particles of perlite. The product descriptions and labels do not indicate the proportion of peat moss to vermiculite to perlite. The actual texture of both products is very fine, so I guess it is mostly vermiculite. Really, I think the potting soil is light enough to work for seed starting, too. If anything, I would question whether the potting soil is substantial enough to sustain potted plants. I may mix in more peat moss or coir to hold water better. There is no mention of any added nutrients, so it would need to be supplemented with fertilizer, too. I’m not sure why this potting soil is called “premium,” but it’s a decent product. ... show more

  • Great for indoor plants
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
I used this to pot some indoor plants. It was great because it isn't hydrophobic. It seems to hold moisture appropriately during the hot dry summer months when plants tend to need more water.

  • Good dirt
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
This seems to good, fertile soil for your indoor potted plants. As a guy who pots a good number of plants -- and in fairly sizable pots -- I can't imagine buying soil in such small packages. This fills about one pot for me, but it's good soil and I'm glad I gave it a try.

  • Good Consistency, Clean Mis
Size: 4 Dry Quarts
I ordered this bag of Premium Potting Soil Mix with Peat Moss, Vermiculite, Perlite to use in small pots that hold my herbs temporarily until they get transplanted to my garden. This is a nice, clean potting mix. The proportions of ingredients is good. The mix holds water well without getting waterlogged and soggy. I've already used most of the bag and I've not had any weeds sprout on their own. ... show more
