This mattress is well made. The stitching is almost like quilting, which gives it a nice, not too firm feel, while providing good support and comfort!! It is foldable (in half) to store more easily. I purchased this to add extra cushioning to our sofa bed, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve made for hosting guests. We had family visiting, and they slept on the sofa bed with this futon on top, absolutely no complaints! They said it was very comfortable and slept great all night. I even tried it myself one night just to test it out, and I was pleasantly surprised. It adds the perfect amount of support and softness without feeling too thick or bulky. It completely upgrades the feel of the mattress underneath. If you have a sofa bed and want to make it guest-ready (or just more comfortable overall), this is a simple and affordable solution. edit after 7 months of floor sleeping: my hip pain has gotten better, so I decided to make this the sole mattress to sleep on, it actually works so well for me now! compared to layering with 2 mattresses before, it’s much easier to fold up now when I need to, changing sheets is also a breeze. this mattress kept its shape and firmness without any visible sagging or indents so far, I believe this is a very good mattress for floor sleeping. the mattress looks well made, it’s as thick as advertised, it didn’t take long for it to pop up, though it does need some shaking for it to be fully even. slept on just this mattress on the hard wood floor for two nights, if you sleep on your back, this has the perfect firmness and support, if you’re a side sleeper like me, it’s does have good enough cushion for your hip, depending on how much your hip bone sticks out. for me, I have hip pain on one side of my hip and not the other side, I can sleep on this mattress on my the good side with no problem, it dips enough to contour but is firm and supportive enough so you won’t feel the floor, but my bad side does need a bit more softness and height than this to be fully comfortable. again that’s just for personal reasons, otherwise the mattress would be a lightweight option for floor sleeping, it’s also foldable with its strip sewing design, and very easy to put on fitted sheet. a solution I’ve devised to achieve more cushion and comfort for myself is to buy another reasonably priced floor mattress with a similar design and thickness, if not just slightly softer, to layer on top, that’ll be a perfect floor sleeping setup that still maintains the convenience of changing sheets and moving. in the end, I think this is a good solid mattress for floor sleeping for back & side sleepers if you have no hip problems.

The build quality of this Japanese floor mat is exceptional. There was no weird chemical smell upon opening, and it fully expanded to its shape after being left out overnight. At 3.5 inches thick, it offers the perfect balance of firmness and comfort. Even though I ordered the Queen size, it’s surprisingly light at only 16 lbs. When not in use, it rolls up easily for storage, making it a huge space-saver. The microfiber fabric with fine texture stitching gives it a premium look, and it stays cool throughout the night.
