The size of the padded tabletop is 75 x 28 inches. The frame beneath it is 63 x 25 inches. It's a beautiful clear hardwood frame. I'm no expert on wood types, but it might be walnut. There are metal threaded inserts for all the screws. Assembly is easy, and there are pictures. Interestingly the instructions seem to be for building a table, not just an exam table. They have you take the long rails off the bed top, assemble them into the frame, then there's an additional loose sheet reminding you to reattach the bed frame. What if you attached a new table top (that you supply) instead, on your 63 x 25 strong stable hardwood frame? Then you would have a beautiful large table. That's my intended use for this table, for the time being at least. We'll keep the bed top, and if we get to the point of doing in-home care, we can swap the top out for the padded bed. I would have no worries putting a loved one on top of this table, assuming they don't need side railings. It's strong and solid.
