  • Pretty Good Set of Blades
I ordered this set for our planer that I use on occasion. It seems like every time I go to use it the blades seem to be dull from the last use so when I saw this set, I wanted to have them as on hand replacements. Overall, I would say that these are a pretty good set of budget blades that should hold up for standard use. Now, they may not last as long as some of the more expensive name brand blades that you can pay a lot more for but at this price point that's to be expected. With that said, I have also had those not last as long as I had hoped so if you consider that these come out to be $2.40 each, you really can't go wrong. If after using these for a while I find that they aren't as good as I had hoped, you can be sure that I will come back on and update my review. As it stands, I feel comfortable with recommending them to anyone looking for a good set of budget blades for their planer. ... show more

  • Fit My Planer Perfectly; Standard Format. Plane Smooth and Will Safely Store In My Planer Bag
Easily swapped out the blades that came with my planer. I like that they come in a solid, compact plastic case with individual slots to protect them from moving around…. I can keep them in the soft sided bag with the planer without worrying about them getting nicked/ damaged. I can always have spares on hand WITH THE PLANER. I have bought replacements that were packed in sets of 2 in small Ziploc bags that have gotten beaten up waiting to get used. I tried to get a picture of their end profile, I was moderately concerned that they might not have the same standard profile/format required by my planer when I ordered them, but they did. I have a down and dirty Ryobi corded planer that gets a lot of abuse. Nice quality and sharp… do what they need to do. I will buy these again I hope this is helpful ... show more

  • JUST WHAT I NEEDED…
At least when it comes to needing replacement blades for my hand planer. I got one at a super discount before I figured out why. One of the blades was chipped beyond repair. As a result, EVERY time it rotated fully I was left with a divot in an irregular spot, making things look worse. Couldn’t grind it down because the chip was so large I’d end up grinding it flat. Then I got these guys. They fit my electric hand planer PERFECT, and there are multiple blades in the whole clean, tightly packaged set. This should, in my estimation, be a LIFETIME supply for any woodworker, even someone looking to do so professionally. They are SHARP, the metal is good quality, there is NOT A SINGLE KNICK OF ANY KIND, and everything is exactly as advertised. Make sure your planer accepts these blades, and if so, GO FOR IT. ... show more

  • Good replacement blades for electric hand planer
I've abused my electric hand planer during use and chipped one or more blades, thus it hasn't been used that much since it caused some gouges due to the bad blades. These replacement blades come in a nice plastic organizer with 10 blades which can fully replace the set three times with one extra. No rust on the blades upon arrival, the blades have the typical notch for retaining on the tool. They don't feel super sharp on the edges but should work fine when spinning. ... show more

  • Nice quality blades!
It is a matter of time (for me anyways) before I dull or chip my planer blades, and this is a great thing to have on hand for swapping to sharp blades quickly. These are good quality and well machined and sharpened. Happy with these, would buy them in the future if I need more.

  • Inconsistent, not compatible with Makita
I've been using a Makita electric planer for many years now, and the genuine brand name carbide blades have generally served me well. They are somewhat expensive at $15-20 for a pair. They also chip horribly if you happen across a screw while planing. So I was happy to find this 10-pack of carbide blades on Amazon, especially at a price that is so affordable. They come in a handy little plastic case and they look pretty good. I did find a couple of edges that seemed dull to the touch but most of them were nice and sharp. I compared the performance of these to a set of lightly used Makita blades and a set of inexpensive HSS blades. They installed easily on the planer with no issues. Unfortunately these did not perform well at all when planing an alder plank. They were very noisy and required much more cutting pressure than either of the other blade types. After removing them I discovered the problem. The clearance angle is insufficient for the heel of the blade to clear the material being cut. So the cutting edge can't properly reach the work. When looking at the blades carefully I noticed a burned, gummy build-up on the heel of the blade where it had been contacting the wood. I tried rotating the blades around to a new set of cutting edges but the problem persisted. I don't know if the rake/clearance angle is the same for all brands of planers so I can't say for sure if these blades are defective. I can only say they are not compatible with the Makita planer I have, or that they are not properly ground for the Makita. ... show more

  • Nice set of carbide blade for my Bosch hand planer
10 pieces should last a while and they're double sided. Blade are not the sharpest but decently sharp. I haven't installed them yet but they seem to be of high quality

  • perfect fit, 5 blade changes in the kit for my 2 blade planer
The OEM brands can be pricey and one nail will leave you "planer-less". Having 10 extra blades on hand at a reasonable price makes good sense. These are a perfect match to my Bosch blades at a lower cost. There are lots of steel blades for much less but these are carbide and should outlast the steel blades many times over (unless you hit a nail!) The price is about in line with other carbide blades like this. These come in a nice plastic case to protect them. Remember too that carbide itself is very brittle so avoid nails and staples at all costs or you will be going through all 10 blades in no time. ... show more
