Bought this alt. for my 2000 VW BEETLE GLX , it came exactly on time and was packed well, it had a computer slip showing it was checked out proper. No used parts on it, all new case and all. Took about 90 minutes to install using hand tools. You definitely want to go in through the bottom and temporarily relocate the AC compressor. There is a great tutorial on tdiclub.com. No more hard cold starts for me, so I think my old one had been going out for a while.

I needed a new alternator for my 99 beetle tdi. I saw this one and it had good reviews so I figured I'd try it and save $100-150. It bolted right into the stock location (which is a pain in the butt on these cars). So far it is working good. My scangauge reads a little over 14v when running.

Could not find anywhere weather watt AMP requirements my Bug needed, not even on the dealer's website. It would have been great to add the 8mm nut for the clamp and two new alternator bolts to the kit. Other than that, it looks and works as advertised.
