Bought this alternator April 4th, here it is May 20th and the alternator took a dump on me. Regulator stopped working. If you know Sonata's , you know what a pain it is to replace an alternator. Just outside the return window too. I shoulda went local. Never gain. I don't want to send it back and lose the 40.00 core charge If they deem it "not defective" like I'm sure they will. I also don't want my car down for however long that takes IF they decide to send a replacement. Tested it locally at a big box, it failed. ... show more

Wiring connector is perfect and the pulley was already installed so no need to swap anything out. It takes a little patience to get the old one out(have to remove battery and tray in Sorento) but it is right and it does fit.

    • Wrong Part - Not What Was Pictured
Unlike my last adventure (where the "alternator" was actually a power window motor in an alternator box), this one is Amazon's fault. For starters, the alternator was poorly packaged and the box was beat to hell. I took picture of it as it sat on my doorstep with a gaping half-fist-sized hole in it. My receiving inspection determined that other than some scuff marks on the pully, it was unharmed. I wish I had inspected it closer, as it wasn't the correct alternator at all. It certainly didn't fit my vehicle as the Amazon fitment check claimed, but also it didn't match the picture of the item in the ad. Of course, this last detail didn't become obvious until I was ready to pull the alternator off the vehicle. Which in the case of a 2006 Hyundai Sonata V6 means that I had already removed the radiator, the front right tire, and the lower splash guard. This is the last time I attempt to order car parts from Amazon for a car that someone in my family is relying on. ... show more

Price certainly was the best. This lives in a very hostile area under the hood. Old alternator was just covered with grease, oil and grime. I received the correct unit and it worked and fixed my problem. Installed relatively easy. Perfect fit. Packaging was very poor. Just the cardboard box and nothing cushioning it inside but another piece of cardboard. It was free to roll and bang around as it traveled. The insulator for the power out line was broken (see photo). Not sure if this was from the shipping or because the nut was tightened too tight. I was able to put the insulator from the old one in its place. The original nuts that held the output cable on were 12mm. This unit the nuts are 1/2 inch. Not a big deal but the next guy won’t be expecting that. How long it will last is waiting to be seen. Overall, I would get again. ... show more

UPDATED REVIEW: I could only suggest this product if you plan to immediately sell your car. 1) the seller lists the wrong phone number for product support (or is lying when they get calls). If it's the former it's defamation, the latter is fraud. 2) lasted less than a year. Didn't have battery issues in the meantime. Very angry because I bought a new battery thinking this couldn't possibly be the problem since alternators last like 5 years. NO WHERE NEAR. -------OLD REVIEW: thanks to the seller. Saved me like a hundred bucks or something. Gave it to my mechanic and he got to work. I haven't had any battery issues since. It has been a month or so since the install. ... show more
