This is not a bad battery to have for emergencies and camping trips. It is capable of charging via solar panels depending on your panel and how much power it actually can give. This has worked great in power outage emergencies where I needed to keep small devices going for a few hours. This is a small battery compared to other back up batteries but it is still heavy. You should not expect this to be a very light battery, but it is something you can carry if needed. The handle is is not retractable but it is sturdy. It is about the size of small tool box case. Because of it's size, it is very easy to store and it actually packs a good amount of power in case of emergency. I always recommend calibrating the battery so completely draining it and recharging it to 100%. It does take a good amount of time to fully charge. It takes a few days depending on the solar panel if you want to go that route. This was able to power my small fridge for a few hours so it can be good if you are trying to keep certain medications cold during this time. The plastic casing is also pretty thick so you do not have to worry about it breaking or cracking. It does however get easily dirty with the color. There is not specific solar panel that is meant for this but I have seen solar panels work pretty well with this without much issue. It does come with other cables provided to charge the device directly from the wall or your car even. From what I can tell it utilizes a power brick to charge and a car outlet. It has a good length to the cable so you do not have to have it sitting right next to the outlet. It does have a built in flash light on it so you can have flash light for those power outages as well. The flash light is actually not that bad on this. It has an LCD screen to show power levels down to the percentage. You have several different options including two USB, one USB QC port, one DC, one type c and two AC ports. I normally just use one AC port and note they do support three prong plugs. It is a nice way to conserve power but shutting off ports that are not being used. Yes you can easily charge your tablet and phone several times over before this battery pack dies. The fast charging did detect on my phone when I was plugged in so that was nice. I also used this to power my laptop for a few hours which is nice. I do not recommend plugging a surge protector into this to get more power ports as I do not know if it will damage it or anything. You have two plugs so you can easily plug in two different devices as needed. The plug is meant to really only power one strong device or two relatively medium size device. One this I do not recommend just having it plugged in and charging for long periods of time as that can damage the battery due to overcharging. The device does get warm when in use so try not to have this in direct sunlight on a hot day or under anything that can retain heat like a blanket. Overall this battery is really nice. It gives you all the power you will need to charge your phone, laptop, and power a small appliance during an outage. It is also small in size making it very easy to store. There is also a nice power switch so you can switch the LED light on easily or the AC ports. The screen is easy to get scratched up so be careful there. ... show more

So if you're in a bind and don't have power this will get you through for the most part. However, it has issues with anything over a cellphone. With the phone, it has never been charged over 84% which is very frustrating since I plug it in to charge overnight. It also takes a long time to change. You can click the outlet button and plug something in but it will often turn off. I tried an iron for my clothes and a laptop, the option for the plug turned off. In positives it does charge well, just wish it helped things a little bigger than a charger. ... show more

I am impressed by the ability of this Powstream Solar Generator to retain the energy that has been stored in it. I left it sitting unused for about a month and it still shows that it is fully charged! I even charged one cell phone with it before I left it to sit for so long. This is the first portable power bank of this size that I have owned, so I am unsure whether or not this is a normal feature of larger power banks. This Powstream Solar Generator came partially charged. I set it up to finish charging to 100% using the solar panel, but, it seemed to be taking far too long. Of course, I may been doing something incorrectly, like placing the generator on my car's back seat with the solar panel in the sunshine in my car's back window. I did that because I did not want to tempt any passersby into nipping into my driveway and taking this brand new power bank home with them! I had no success using the solar panel to finish charging this power bank in the back seat of my car so I tried charging it by putting the solar panel in the sunshine near my front door. I left it in the sun for about half a day. The generator was still not fully charged. I got frustrated with trying to use the solar panel to charge this power generator to 100%. I decided to give up and charge this Powstream Solar Generator in the house using electricity. This method of charging worked like a charm! Once I managed to get this power bank fully charged I tested it by using it to charge my cell phone. Charging my cell phone using this solar generator also worked like a charm. As I previously mentioned, I am impressed by the ability of this Powstream Solar Generator to retain the energy that has been stored in it. I like that I can charge it up, get busy and forget about it, and still be able to count on it in times of emergency. This is especially important to me because I live in an area that is prone to disasters. When these disasters occur they can cause the loss of electrical power for days at a time. I am subtracting one star from my rating of this Powstream Solar Generator because I wasn't able to charge it to 100% using the solar panel. I may have been doing something incorrectly so I will be trying the solar panel again once this portable power generator is at less than 100% charged. Four stars. ... show more
