  • Worked well on my General Saw
This was a straight-forward replacement for another switch that had failed. I had used a stiff core connecting wire that vibrated enough to break. This time, I used twisted wire that should tolerate vibration better. The Powertec system for connections was easy to use and appeared to be well made.

  • Best Way to Control Power - Table Saw
This paddle switch is great! I used to have to be a contortionist to cut power after a cut on my Delta Table Saw. I mounted this switch in such a way as not to interfere with the raise/lower wheel but still able to shut power while still having both my hands in a safe position. I just simply and gently push my knee into the paddle and it kills the power. It's AWESOME. NOTE: The electrical box you mount this switch on needs to be at least 2=3/4" deep as opposed to the common 2" deep box. Just meant I had to go pick one up before I could mount it. No big deal. ... show more

  • Solid and safe switch for a table saw
My last switch was a different brand, but appears to have been exactly the same switch. It lasted about 12 years before one of the terminals snapped off and it quit working. This one was very easy to swap into its place, but since the last switch was exactly the same as this one, all the custom bits had already been figured out. This is to be expected when you retrofit a Delta saw with another brand switch. No big deal... especially if you are handy enough to even consider swapping switches... or is it switching swaps??? If I get 12 years out of it, I'll be fine with that. It's a simple switch that is very easy to turn off with your knee (on a table saw). That way if I cut off my hand, I'll be able to turn off the saw without a hand. Seems like a lose/win situation to me! ... show more

  • Worked on Laguna F2 saw
Used it to replace the switch on my Laguna F2 Fusion. Just make sure you get the deep box.

  • This is not a magnetic switch
Contrary to what one reviewer and the AI summary says, this switch DOES NOT turn itself off if power is lost. And be aware that the gang box is not included, so you will need to source one. Other than the issues just mentioned, this is well made and works well to turn off my 240V 3 hp table saw.

  • Safety so I don't die like a 1930's man
I often get old, ancient power equipment and fix it up because most people enjoy simple hings like blade guards, belt covers and the like. As such, having an on/off switch isn't typical of these cast iron relics, and as easy as it is to use a power strip with a switch, having something beefy like this switch to bump into is great for when your loose fitting clothing decides to pull you into the mechanical monster. Do note, these switches need a deep box, and the screws that are included are barely long enough for a deep box AND you're going to have to have a metric tap for the box, or alternatively order up the accessory kit with the longer screws and correct thread for US standard box. Note Line is all on one side (the plug end) and Load is all on the opposing side (to motor.) Line and load wires ought to have crimped round connectors appropriate for the switch screws. Hot and neutral aren't marked, and while most electric motors I have worked with don't really care which is which, best practices is to be matchy matchy on the two sides. I typically get a deep metal box with a ground wire and pigtail that to the Line side, and add a ground wire to the motor (generally they don't have one, but pick a good spot, and run it to the switch.) I like using a metal deep box and attach it to the metal frame in a location that I could hit with my knee or hip, in case I really need to shut it down. ... show more

  • Works fine. Quality is somewhat lacking. Works fine. Quality is somewhat lacking.
First it does work. The wiring terminals are small and should include a clamp for the wires. I purchased the POWERTEC 71384 Deep box so everything would go together. Wrong. The box is too shallow so you must use the spacers that were provided. This leaves a gap. The installation was fairly easy. I would be very reluctant to buy another POWERTEC product . ... show more
