  • Important to know what this product is for and what it's not for
This product is intended to reduce a 4" dust collection hose down to a tool which has a 2-1/2" dust collection port. Something like a bandsaw, small table saw, jointer, etc. It's not supposed to be used to hook up your 2-1/2" shop-vac to a giant hose for your 4" tool port or whatever else you might be thinking. This reducer has a 3-15/16" outer diameter connector for a 4" hose on the larger end. The inner diameter is not relevant because that's not how it's used. It has a 2-1/4" outer diameter connector for a 2-1/2" tool on the smaller end. It's slightly flared (outward/larger) away from the end to tighten-down as you insert the small-end into your tool's dust port. The inner diameter is not relevant because that's not how it's used. One measurement I didn't see anywhere in the specs or the comments was the eccentric offset itself. There is a lip on the plastic on the large-end which is slightly larger than 4". This is the "back-stop" for the 4" vacuum hose. It's diameter (irrelevant, but helpful for reference) is 4-1/8". The outer edge of the small-end is 3/8" away from that lip. So if you want to put this into the 2-1/2" hose-port on your tool, you'll need to have ~1/2" of clearance around the port in order to use this. I was a little worried about my Craftsman benchtop bandsaw (124.214000) because it has very little clearance around the dust port. This item fits perfectly and snugly into the dust port on that saw. I haven't given it much use at this point, but if it starts to wiggle loose, I might drill a hole through the dust port flange and the reducer, thread the hole, and put a set-screw in there to make sure it doesn't move at all. Yes, it's a cheap piece of plastic. That's why it's inexpensive. Removing the label is not necessary for operation, but if you do remove it quickly, another reviewer is right that you will likely be using Goo Gone, Krud Kutter, or some other kind of product to remove all the adhesive. Or, you can use your fingernail slowly and remove it all at once and no chemical intervention will be required. The plastic is rigid but slightly flexible which is good if you need to jam it into the tool's dust port and also into those 4" hoses which can be inflexible sometimes. If you dropped it on a hard shop floor, it might crack or chip. I don't expect to be tossing it around my shop so I expect it will last as long as I care to use it. If I end up with another tool with a 2-1/2" dust port, I'll probably buy another one of these for it. ... show more

  • Perfect adapter in right application
This adapter is perfect for what it does and where it will fit (and will not) is pretty simple. The 4" end is male connector that accepts 4" dust collection hose. The hose will slip right over this piece and a band clamp will secure it. Now for the small end--over which there has been some confusion. If your male hose end is 2 1/8" outside diameter and your tools are 2 1/4" inside diameter then know that this is a MALE 2 1/8" outside diameter fitting. If your 2 1/8" shop vac hose will go into the fitting--then so will this. For instance: I have an enclosed shroud I built for my ShopSmith 12" sanding wheel because it is a major source of dangerous sanding dust. The suction port on the unit was built from a table saw guard and so it is a 2 1/4" I.D. FEMALE fitting. My shop vac hose wedges inside. So this adapter end is the same size as the shop vac hose MALE. See pictures above. While I will lose considerable cubic feet air flow because of the reduction, I believe the dust collector will still be superior to the shop vac in drawing out the fine dust particles. So when planning your uses for this adapter remember it must have a connector that is tool (crevice, brush, straight tube) size that it can be placed inside of. ... show more

  • Perfect for my Bosch router table
I purchased this reducer to fit on the dust collection port on the back of my Bosch router table. It almost fits perfectly. I mean it fits but not snugly. So in order to get a snug fit I ran some electrical tape around the end that fits into the dust port. I then connected the reducer to my 4 inch y fitting using a powertec hose clamp. This reducer is just what I needed for my router table. It’s sturdy and is the correct size to meet my needs. I like powertec products because they offer quality products for a good price. They are not overpriced like some other name brand products. The hose clamp I used is also a powertec product. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
This allows me to use my 4" hose from my Dust Collector and connect with my Rigid 4514 Table Saw. It plugs perfectly into the dust port and no rubber connector needed.

  • Neded an offset connector for the planer
The exhaust port for the dust connection hood on my Dewalt planer sits to the side near the frame. Needed an offset connector and this worked well. Sized just right for a 4" hose. Lost some suction power with the reduced opening but it still workes well

  • Well made
This is made of hard black plastic which doesn't crack when you apply a hose clamp. It works well as a reducer and does what it was advertised to do with accurate sizing. The plastic is about an eighth of an inch thick.
