  • Solid GPU
This GPU is MASSIVE, I mean absolutely vast, huge, enormous, gigantic. Be warned if you have a small case. It has two switches on it, a silent mode / OC mode toggle and another switch that can select one of two lighting schemes or no lights at all. The photo is of this thing installed, it comes with an anti-gpu sag (because it is so big) stand which I don't think I needed but installed anyway, it can just be seen in the photo. The benchmark screenshot is from userbenchmark with OC mode on. I toggled it into silent mode for personal use after so for all other observations that are with silent mode on. I'm not sure if it's just my card or this class of card that is performing at an outstanding level. When sitting in windows with light work like watching a video and browsing the internet the GPU temps are 46C (with new drivers temps sit at 36C at idle (9/23/23)) with a junction temp of 55C. Unfortunately for my setup, 1 4k 144hz monitor and 1 1080p 144hz monitor both plugged in via display port the card pulls close to 100 watts at idle (with new drivers power draw is as low as 18 watts at idle(9/23/2023)). It should not do this, it should be closer to 20 watts. There is chatter out there on this issue and AMD thinks they can fix this with a future driver update. Because it's a new launch I will not ding it for this flaw, but if it hasn't been fixed in 3-6 months I would consider it to be a problem. Temps underload can be seen in the final screenshot. GPU temps peak at 69C with a junction temp peaking at 82C after about 10 minutes of intense usage in a game. It is clear that the 7900XTX reference cooler issue is not present with this card and the cooler works just fine. Overall this card is not cheap. But this thing about it is, you can buy this product now at MSRP when its closest competitors, 7900XTX and 3070ti, you can not buy unless you want to pay scalper prices. So it's not great value, but it's not terrible value and importantly you can actually buy it. Given the state of the GPU market in the last year or so this is a huge improvement and this card gets a 5 star review for excellent performance and being buyable. ... show more

  • Fast and stays very cool
I returned the xt and got the xtx. I was afraid my power supply didn't have enough wattage but it does i have a 750w gold. This is my first time buying amd. i have had 4 Nvidia cards 1050, 1070, 3070 and 4080. I still have the 4080 and the 1050. The 50 is in laptop. I was on it today for 6 hrs testing it and i have little to no complaints. It does have some coil whine while in loading menus but the xtx has less than the xt . Over all im very happy with this card and will be looking ahead for what amd offers. Its a 4080 but cheaper and has 8gb vram more ... show more

  • AMD drivers are still terrible.
I WANTED to like this card so badly. I WANTED to give AMD/ATI another try. I've been building PC's since 2004, back when Athlon's came on the scene and dethroned Intel for a while and the power struggle went back and forth since then. I always supported AMD CPU's and I still do to this day, I'm running a 7800x3d. However, I have ALWAYS had issues with Radeon video cards. Always a driver issue in a game, crashes, bsod's, stuttering, hard locks, you name it. For quite a few years I swore off ever buying another Radeon card again, until I read all the material and reviews online promising how AMD had come in and fixed all the issues and Radeon is now on the same level as Nvidia when it comes to hardware/software issues. I bought the 7900 XT, and it was great in the beginning. Then I started getting crashes in various games. My buddies all bought the same CPU/Mobo/Ram combo as me, and went with Nvidia cards at my recommendation (because I'm the one that always has to fix issues they have) and I still wasn't sold fully on AMD/Radeon cards. My buddy's PC's weren't crashing... they weren't having a single hiccup playing any of the newest games. And I would know because often times we were playing the same games together at the same time. Then I started getting this AMD backup cmd window that likes to just pop itself up over the top of any priority window that I have up at the time. Talk about maddening. Helldivers 2, could barely play without adjusting settings (which may be the game itself I get that.) and then when you got the settings right be prepared for a crash every few hours. Space Marine 2, a pretty graceful launch, I crash every couple hours. World of Warcraft... has always been stable for me. No longer. I will crash at random to desktop. I also have this issue where I run 2x 4k monitors side by side. Whichever monitor is not hosting an active window at the time runs at about 10 fps. It's not a game setting. My games are set specifically to run at 60 fps when they are not the active window. Still 10 fps or lower. Gifs and other media on my non active monitor will stutter and lag. It's just ridiculous at this point. The amount of one off issues with random things is not worth the time and effort that it takes to troubleshoot when I can buy an Nvidia card and have NONE of these issues. I ran a 1080 Ti for years and had not a single issue besides maybe a driver update that fixed games here and there. I'll be listing this card on marketplace after I order an Nvidia card today. And I will never buy another AMD card again. This experience has completely sealed the deal for me. ... show more

  • Really good graphics card
I paired this graphics card with a 9900x and for the past 6 months has been doing me quite good. The card gets high frame rates in 1440p gaming. I would say its good value even with the new ryzen gpus. Even in a hot room most ive seen my card reach is 60 degrees C so i would say overall the cooling is adequate if you have enough fans in your build. The card itself though is quite big and is triple slot card so make sure to check measurements of your case and the card to make sure they work together. ... show more

  • Coil Whine
It is a great card, has amazing performance, and its fins are quiet, but the coil whine is obnoxious. Its saving grace is the fact you can not hear the whine through headphones, and I mostly game with a pair on so it's not noticeable in most use cases really. It also only really starts to happen over 160 watts of power draw, and it gets less annoying the higher the power draw after that. Seems to change as the card heats up. ... show more

  • Beast of a GPU
Beast of a GPU. Whenever booting up a new game for the first time it automatically enables the highest graphics settings. It is a BIG GPU and pretty heavy so I highly recommend to use the sag bracket that comes with it. No one wants a sagging GPU that spells for a bad time.
