  • Great Entry-Level Board
I bought 3 of these (1 for myself and 2 for my kids) and I'm happy with my purchase. If you want the short version of my review, here it is: this is an awesome first board for kids and adults alike. If you are looking for a good board on the cheap, buy it. And now on to the more detailed review... ## Wheels / Bearings The basic tradeoff on wheels is: softer wheels give you increased ease/smoothness of ride and harder wheels are better for doing tricks and they roll faster. The wheels this board ships with are 99a Durometer (the "hardness" rating) which are on the harder/trick-friendly side of the spectrum. They are 54mm in diameter which is a great all-around size and a good starting point for somebody who doesn't know what they want yet. The bearings are actually pretty good and the wheels roll smoothly. ## Trucks The Trucks came set up pretty much how I like them (though it's subjective and you might want to fine-tune them). They seem to be OK quality. Maybe a tiny bit flimsy but we'll see how they hold up. They are pretty impressive for the price of the board (you can buy trucks that alone cost about as much as this complete board). ## Deck The deck is pretty standard. Seems to have a good amount of stiffness/pop. The griptape isn't bad (which I only mention because the griptape on so-called Walmart boards is a disgrace). The design looks pretty good. ## Summary For the price, it seems like the value here is hard to beat. I wanted to get my kids and I something we could learn on but didn't want to break the bank. This board is perfect for that. All 3 of us have been skating every day and the boys are practicing tricks already. ... show more

  • Great beginner board, great price
The neighborhood kids are always zooming around the culdesac on their boards, and the other day I took my wife's Arbor longboard out and just cruised. My 4-year-old son wanted to ride on it with me, so I decided to start looking for a board for him. Yeah, 4 might be a little young, but he does really well on his Mini-Kick scooter and I'll wrap him in bubble wrap, so no worries. Based on the price and ratings, and on my son's preference for this color scheme over the white one (which I preferred, not that it matters), I purchased this Powell board. While it was in transit, we happened to be at Target so I looked at their available boards. There was a line of Tony Hawk beginner boards for about $30, and just when I started to question my decision, I tried spinning the wheels on the TH boards. They barely moved. (By design, I wonder?) When our board arrived (a day early!), I knew I'd made the right choice. My son was excited about the board and couldn't wait to try it. Good thing his Mongoose BMX Bike Gel Knee and Elbow Pads arrived at the same time. He is easily frustrated so his turn on the board didn't last long, so I took it out for a test ride. This board is prettier, sturdier and better-constructed than any board I ever owned (my first board was an inch thick and had clay wheels, for what that's worth), and much less expensive. The deck is concave and completely covered with grip tape, the trucks are firm and the wheels spin freely. (It also comes with a bonus instructional DVD.) I'm 200 pounds and it handles me just fine, so I have no doubt that this will last my son for many years. Barring, of course, the kind of catastrophic accident that often befalls kids' toys. Today one of the neighborhood skater prodigies pronounced it "pretty good," so I am completely pleased with my purchase. If you're looking for a beginner board for any age range, you can't go wrong with this one. ... show more

  • Excellent quality and I highly recommend
I bought this for my son so he could try skateboarding. I didn't want to buy something cheap because then it would be too hard to learn, however I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something he may not like. This was perfect. He loved the designs and it comes with a tutorial DVD on the basics. We watched it together and then went out and practiced. The board is solid quality and I was impressed with the graphics. The wheels and bearings were also good quality. One of the bearings started going out a few months after purchase. I emailed for a replacement with a phone video clip of the wheel spinning and they mailed a replacement right away. Great support for the replacement. My son wanted me to skateboard with him, so I ended up purchasing the "Powell Golden Dragon Two Dragons 2" for myself. It probably wasn't made for an old fat guy, but it held up great and I was just as happy with mine. Based off the customer support, quality of the equipment, and price point - I would highly recommend this as a beginner board. The packaging it came in from Amazon was HORRID, but it's a skateboard so not really a big deal. ... show more

  • It’s very wood
Uhhhhhmmmmm.... it’s a skateboard now before I begin this is a brand name skateboard a Powell one of the forefathers of skateboards. I remember vividly stealing my first Powell Peralta from my older brother forever dooming my knees. So again uhhhhmmmm it’s a skateboard it’s wood good wood hard wood solid wood colorful wood shapely wood. Wheels are good basic quality wheels not pigs but not ccs so nothing to write home about there. Average a ex bearings again nothing to write home but the trucks are where they lost a star. They are cheap basic Chinese cast trucks. My son is not stomping down a crooked grind on a cement ledge so I’m not concerned but if you are planning on giving this board the beans I would invest in atleast a pair of ventures or just go Independent trucks why settle on what carries you. Again good for kids and beginners sportier fellas upgrade the trucks or just build custom complete. Fin ... show more

  • Great board for the money
I’m 48 years old. Just got back into skating after 30 years away. This was my second board. Very impressed with the quality for the price. The trucks are great and the wheels and bearings are smooth and very fast. Great value
