  • The pearlescent medium works best when used in transparent and translucent colors and improves the consistency and flow of paints when doing pouring technique applications. It can be thinned with up to 30% water or with an acrylic medium.
  • The medium can be used independently or mixed with acrylic colors and mediums only. Do not mix with oil paint. It extends color and lightens colors depending on how much medium is incorporated into paint colors.

I’m very happy with this pearlescent medium. I wanted it to put a shimmery/sparkly gloss on some xmas ornaments I had made, but I couldn’t tell from the description or reviews if it would work for that or if it would be too opaque since everything mentions mixing it with paints. For anyone needing it for the same purpose, it works great as a shimmery topcoat, and though while not completely clear, there’s only the slightest milkiness to the opalescent finish once it dries. I had made little mushroom ornaments that I’d painted a cool burgundy and this medium made them just slightly lighter and cooler in tone, as if dusted by snow (or fairies). I usually use SargentArt Pearlescent Acrylic Paint Medium, but as soon as I discovered it & became addicted to adding it to my acrylic paints as well as using Liquitex Alcohol Inks and coloring the medium as is, it somehow became unavailable. So sad, I started looking for something else and ran across this. I was reluctant because I had tried a couple others and didn't quite give the effects I was searching for. I was pleasantly surprised with the results, almost identical to the results I'd get using SargentArt. I just hope and pray this doesn't start becoming hard to find! The only downfall is I'm used to spending about $6-$7 less on SargentArt for the same amount, but I will pay the difference since I am left with no choice. ... show more
