  • Good deal for the price!$f
Set name: Expansion Kit
Ok, so overall, for the price, I was impressed. Definitely a decent deal. That been said, let's get some things straight. First off, the range, which was my biggest concern, due to what I intended to use the drone for. The listing claims up to 13,000 ft range. While the drone may physically be capable of that, I would much more have appreciate that ŕthe seller clarifying the fact that without modifying or otherwise amplifying the controller's signal strength, realistically its closer to 1,200-1,500 ft with average obstructions (trees, buildings, etc.) And my highest observed range, with basically no obstructions, standing on a second floor balcony of a hotel, I think I saw close to 2,000 ft. Mind you I'm referring to distance from the controller at an average of 130 ft in height. And while it also claims the ability of very high heights, I have not exceeded the regulated 394 ft, in the interest of aerial safety. My other complaint, if you want to call it that, I'd say more of a "con", is build quality. I immediately had to have a new one sent because first flight I hit a neighbor's tree (not the drone's fault but mine for being high) and it completely disabled the camera. Without any argument, I received a replacement (not mentioning the whole tree or high parts, of course). Since then I've had no other incidents. The drone itself is still in good condition after over a month of having it. The controller on the other hand is now damaged. One antenna is cracked near the base, which doesn't appear to affect the performance at all but is a concern that it will eventually break off completely. And almost immediately, one of the screw-on joysticks broke off. Both of these things just seemed to happen easily while the controller was just sitting in the cab of my truck. In their defense, I'm not always careful with things and live a quite "rough" lifestyle, so it was likely my own fault, which is why I'm not deducting anything from my rating for that. The only other thing I find a bit inconvenient is the camera not having any sort of zoom. Not even digital. Just nothing. One fixed distance. Despite being able to pan anywhere between straight out ahead and straight down. I just have to come down a bit to see things in more detail. The picture is pretty good otherwise. So I'm giving it 5 stars because as I said, overall it's a decent deal. The thing is easy to fly and performs very well. All of the features that I have tried seem to work as stated. Battery life isn't too bad. I observe an average of 15 to 25 minutes per battery, which is pretty good compared to other drones I've had (that were all in this price range). Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a decent drone in this price range! ... show more

  • I love this Drone
Set name: Expansion Kit
This is my first drone. I had $250 worth of Amazon gift cards that I had collected from Christmas and my 55th birthday and didn't need any golf stuff so i decided to look at drones. After 2 weeks of looking and reading reviews and watching a few videos, I decided to go with the Atom SE. It's a great drone. Very stable. Watch the many Youtube reviews of this drone and they are nothing but positive. I've had the drone for 3 weekends now and have flown it on 3 separate days. I had read the manual and watched a few tutorial videos before I flew it the first time. I flew it behind and over my house a few hundred feet above and beyond the house. It went perfect. Very easy to control and learn. The remote is awesome. I have a Pixel 7 Pro and it fits nice and snug even with a case on it. The batteries last quite a while, about 25 minutes on average. Today was the warmest day (45F) that I've flown it and the first time that the battery was warm enough to let me go into sport mode. Lots of fun flying around at 35 mph. The videos and pictures that I've captured thus far look a little bit better than the ones attached to Amazon reviews. I did have a close call today. My oldest son and his fiance were visiting and I was showing my son the drone controls while it was hovering about 50 feet off of the ground. My controller started flashing warnings about losing signal and then the drone started doing a death spiral shortly after that. It started moving towards the ground in a spiral fashion and I got control of it with an emergency stop when it was about two feet off the ground. It was then that I remembered the iPhone warnings that I had heard about in the reviews. They say to put iPhones in airplane mode when flying the drone due to interference. My son had his iPhone in his pocket while I was showing him the controls. I had him place it in airplane mode after that and started the drone back up and flew it for about 15 minutes without issue. Originally I purchased the 2 battery combo package but have since purchased the 3 battery charger with 1 additional battery. It's a great charger, easy to use and, fits nicely in the case. Speaking of the case, it's really nice and fits everything perfectly. Overall, I think this is a great drone for the money. I have no regrets in purchasing it. My drone weighs in at 248 grams with the battery in it according to my weight watchers scale. If you're in the US don't forget to do your TRUST training. I did mine through the Pilot Institute website and it was very easy to complete. ... show more

  • Great Drone, great price!
Set name: Expansion Kit
I have had the Potensic Atom SE drone now for over a month and have flown it every weekend, so now I feel I can post an honest review. This is reall a great drone. May not have all the bells and whistles of that other company, but it doesn't have the price tag either. This is my first drone with GPS and what a difference that makes. I also love the fact that if I'm ever in a panic situation I can just release the controller joysticks and the drone will immediately stop whatever it's doing and hover in place. That's saved me a few times already. It is very easy to fly, even for a novice flyer. The controller and app are easy to handle and understand. Very comfortable controller and I like how it holds your phone, very easy to read, and has a range of 4km (about 2 1/2 miles) but I'll never really know how far it can go since I have to keep the drone itself in sight the whole time while flying. The furthest I've flown it was about 3200ft (about .6 miles) and the only reason I could see it that far off is because it was at twilight on a cloudy day and I could see my anticollision strobe blinking. The drone is very easy to handle, very responsive, and FAST! In Sport mode I reached 35mph, per the app. The video quality is impressive during the day, not so much at night. Photos are OK for use online and smaller photographs, but as a photographer I would like to see a better camera where I can make small enlargements, but, again, you can't complain too much at this price point. It handles windy days pretty well and have had no problems with it there. The Follow Me, Waypoint, and Circle Flight works as should and the RTH feature is great. I've initiated it myself a few times and had it return on it's own because of low battery, all times landing within feet of the takeoff point. I get about 25 minutes of flight per battery charge which is decent. The manual is easy to understand (although you have to download it, no physical manual with purchase) and the Customer Service has been GREAT. Had some concerns about the way my drone was packaged and they got back to me almost immediately and help solve my problem. Overall, I highly recommend this drone and you get alot for the price. I LOVE FLYING THIS THING! The ONLY regret I have in purchasing this is that I purchased it off of Amazon - nothing against Amazon, I love them too - but I wish I had gone directly to the Potensic website and seen the new and improved Atom drone and I would have definitley purchased that instead. At the time it was not available on Amazon (is now though) and is not that all more expensive than the SE. Update 11/22/2023 I mentioned in my review a few weeks back that I had a good experience with the Potensic Customer Service department and I had another great experience dealing with them again. Unfortunately, I had an accident with a tree and broke off my front right landing gear (the arm was fine) and couldn't find all the pieces. I emailed the customer service site and told them what happened and sent pictures and they got back to me within a day. They said it was repairable and gave me a price, plus gave me the option of purchasing a replacement Atom SE for a discounted price (BIG discount). After thinking about it I just went about fixing it myself with an old credit card, toothpick, and epoxy - think Frankenstein, but it flies no problem. I was tempted to take them up on their offer for the new SE, but would rather fix this one and save for an upgraded drone. When they asked what I'd like to do and told them I fixed it myself they were almost apologetic that I crashed my drone and offered to send me a new set of paddles. If that's not great customer service, I'm not sure what is. An overall great experience. ... show more

  • Great Drone for the Price - Highly Recommend
Set name: Expansion Kit
I bought this drone a few months ago and have been really happy with it. Setup was simple, the GPS locks on fast, and the 4K camera shoots smooth stable footage. The flight time is impressive and the return-to-home feature works perfectly every time. For a sub-249g drone at this price point, you really cannot beat it. Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking to get into flying. ... show more

  • Good budget drone, very responsive customer support
Set name: Fly More Combo
Overall, a very nice drone, very stably, adjustable camera, very user friendly, with lots of smart features. The GPS features are super robust, including stuff like circle fly and follow. Certainly underrated features for such a budget price! It is super suitable for beginners with auto stabilization and a beginner mode with safer speed/movement margins. Very fun to mess around with, yet also quite viable to bring along to a trip for photography/videography. Unlike other drones that can easily take a finger in the props, this one has super loose blades that automatically swing out during flight, minimizing hazards related to other, similar drones with fixed propellers. ... show more

  • Good Quality Drone for the Price
Set name: Expansion Kit
UPDATE: 5/15/2025: Today I discovered that if you don't use the drone for a couple of months the batteries will lose their charge, but surprisingly *not* the remote controller. Another disappointment is when recording video (or even snapping a picture) the drone does not include telemetry data on the video (i.e. - date/time; altitude; direction; speed; etc). I've searched the owners manual pdf file but have not yet discovered if this feature exists and, if it does, how to enable it as I think it would be nice to have the telemetry data on the video. Other than that I'm still quite pleased with this drone. ORIGINAL REVIEW 3/10/2025: Got interested in drones and thought I'd finally give it a go. Settled on this one. Good quality workmanship. Drone has a microSD card slot and will take a 256Gig card. Comes with a spare set of propeller blades, screws and tiny Phillips screw driver. Two batteries delivering a total of 60 minutes flight time. (30 mins per battery) Good quality carry case as well. Comes with three different connecting cables depending on what phone you have to connect your phone to the remote control. The instructions are easy to follow and includes pictures. My first time testing was indoors to get a feel for the controls. Everything seemed OK so outside I went. Drone is easy to control. Left joystick handles up/down/turn left/turn right while the right joystick is for going forward/backward/left/right. BTW, NEVER fly the drone backwards as you can easy hit a tree (Been there, did that, used my neighbors pickup to put my extension ladder in the bed to give me 4 extra feet in height so I was able to get my drone out of the tree!! Yes, that was an "Oops" moment. LOL) This goes back to the quality of the drone as nothing broke. Drone was in perfect working condition. Another feature I like is if the battery gets low then the drone software will automatically perform RTB and climbs to ~193 feet and comes right back to where it took off. I've already taken pictures and video; at 4K the picture quality is superb. My only con is the drone doesn't put a date/time stamp on the pictures or videos so you cannot tell when it was taken/recorded. If anyone knows if that can be done then please let me know. Finally, I've added two pictures of right after I unboxed the drone and another picture taken during the flight. Controls are easy to use with only a little learning curve (like, how to avoid trees LOL). I definitely recommend this drone. ... show more

  • Drone let down by dismissive and generally poor Customer Service
Set name: Expansion Kit
UPDATE: JUNE 2024 To Potensic's credit they did reach out and offer a refund. Unfortunately, this refund was because of this negative review and their hope I would remove it, not because they cared about their customer. Nonetheless, I do want to give credit to them for the better-late-than-never gesture, and have slightly edited my review to only detail my experience. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Unfortunately, this is NOT a positive review of Potensic and their ATOM SE - but in order to provide some balance, let me start with the good. On the face of it, the Atom SE is a fun drone, great for beginners and Potensic Customer service is responsive. and here's my experience. On buying this drone and flying it for the first time, it took off fine but then started flying in ever increasing circles, struggling to hover in one place. It had numerous satellite connections, was calibrated successfully but was if it was continuously trying to maintain one location. While this led to a steep learning curve in control of the drone, it shouldn't be like this. At the same time not a week after purchase in Nov 2023, Potensic removes - with no notice or explanation, Headless mode - an included feature that contributed in me choosing this drone over others and which I had paid. Clearly by not mentioning it, Potensic hoped nobody would notice. On contacting Potensic Customer service, to their credit they replied promptly. However they maintained removing headless mode was not their fault - was it mine? - or was I just the sucker that paid for it - and they could do nothing about it. They also dismissed the failure-to-hover issue by saying it was me being unfamiliar with the controls. The point of hovering is that you don't need to be familiar with the controls - do nothing and it should stay where it is. They offered a measly set of replacement propellers in lieu of removing a paid-for feature and a lack of proper control. I refused the insufficient gesture. As I got used to the lack of hovering issue I did start to enjoy flying the drone. It was fun and the drone itself had great potential. Fast forward to now. On opening the rear prop arm, a resistance was felt, which bulged the rear fuselage before it opened with a loud click - but not as securely as before. This drone has never been crashed does not have a scratch or so much as a grass stain on it but out of nowhere, the rear arm won't open securely. Since it was within warranty I reached out to Potensic Customer Service. As before a prompt reply. They requested images, log files and I offered a video. Unsurprisingly, as before, they wriggled and squirmed and blamed it all on me. Everything I provided showed no evidence of user error. The original lack of hover control was likely linked to problems with the fully secured positioning of the rear prop arm - which eventually failed, yet Potensic did nothing but offer a discount on a customer-returned drone. It's clear Potensic confuses Customer service responsiveness with effectiveness. It's clear Potensic CS will do everything in their power to blame the customer. It's also clear, that they are not interested in supporting their product or the customers. ... and this is all a pity. The drone has great potential but this is all undone by terrible customer service. For the sake of honoring their warranty - which states they will replace with a USED drone - which should at least get one flying again, they have alienated a potential lifelong customer. ... show more

  • Atom SE Great little drone....
Set name: Expansion Kit
An update to this review concerning Potensic Support. As with any product new to the market I have experienced a few bugs with the Atom SE. The Potensic support team has worked with me on each of these issues and there have been a few firmware updates that greatly improve it's operation. Many of these have been at the suggestion of Atom SE owners. They listen to and welcome our input to improve their product. Most recently the onboard compass has apparently failed and my Atom crashed pretty hard. Support sent instructiions I followed but to no avail. Potensic has apologized for any inconvience and is replacing the drone under warranty. As I said at the end of my initial review the Potensic Support team is quite simply the BEST support staff I have dealt with in over thirty years. They stand behind their products and work with customers to keep us satisfied and flying. Thank you Potensic, you folks are great!! I received my new Atom SE on Wednesday the weather was very overcast so I was only about to charge and start everything. Location, firmware update and time to fly. I am not easily impressed, but the short version of what I think of this drone, WOW! This drone flies amazingly well for one in this price range. Control inputs are instant, crisp, and very sensitive and took a bit of getting used to. Just basic maneuvers on the first day and it performs all of them extremely well. The weather finally broke today (Sunday 1/15/22) and it was off to the park to put it through it's paces. Temperature was around 35 degrees F and brisk winds (Ground level 8-16 MPH) at around 80 ft. altitude wind gusted up to 32 MPH. It handles the wind better than I expected, it holds position and is stable except in the strong gusts. Even then it does move maybe 10 ft. when the gust stops it recovers right back to steady hover. Despite the cold and wind the battery life is almost dead on the rated flight time. I got 28 minutes of flying on the first battery with 10% left, the wind had increased a fair bit so the second battery flight time was 24 minutes with 10% left and considering how it fought the wind so well I am very, very pleased with flight time. Was great fun, but with a couple of extra batteries it will be a blast (sorry wallet). Time to test the autonomous features. First the follow mode and it certainly does so. No matter the direction or number of direction changes it follows and keeps me in the frame. Circle mode is flawless and smooth (as my grampa used to say it's as smooth as the south end of a north bound baby). Waypoint mode again flawless, flies to each point smoothly and turns the corners crisply. The best part of this little gem is the camera, it is amazing. It will record video at 4K 30FPS, 2.7K 30FPS, 1080P and 270P. The EIS gives you a very smooth video. The photos, well you can almost count the leaves on the trees and the colors are vibrant and sharp. A three axis gimbal and some more camera settings I think would give DJI Mini 2 a run for it's money. In conclusion I am extremely happy with my Atom SE and highly recommend it especially for those who can't afford the likes of DJI or Autel. This is a very reasonably priced beginner to intermediate drone. I would love to see a three axis gimbal for even smoother and quality videos. Not to mention this is not my first Potensic drone and their support team is heads and shoulders above the norm, they are polite, prompt and most helpful. I give this drone five gold stars! ... show more
