Description

The PORTER-CABLE PCC740B 1/2" cordless impact wrench, bare tool features a powerful motor which produces 330ft/lbs of torque for heavy applications. It offers a maximum of 1,650 rpm's for driving large fasteners quickly, with a full variable speed trigger for precision control. The 1/2" hog ring allows for quick and easy socket changes. It also has a pro grade lithium battery for long life and maximum performance, along with a led light which helps improve visibility in dark areas. This impact driver is designed with a chemical resistant housing for automotive friendly settings. It also offers the user over mold grips for comfort during use. This thing works great. Don't recall ever seeing a better battery powered one. The 4 amp hour batteries are available for it and they work for a long time with it but limit how well it fits in tight spots. The air powered ones got the hose so it's always something. Just wish porter Cable would make more stuff, i use all porter Cable battery tools, this and the sawzall are really nice, so is the brushes drill, outside of the essential stuff they lack but DeWalt doesn't make impact wrenches or sawzalls as nice. If this is one of the most important battery tools to you than you may be a porter Cable Guy. Same with the sawzall+ the price is right with this brand. Always feels like you get more than you pay for with porter Cable exept for the radio its not as bad as some claim but the price is too high for the quality. ... show more

I have other Porter Cable 20v MAX tools, so I stuck with the Porter Cable Impact Wrench. It works great for my needs. I've used it to remove lug nuts to rotate tires. My Honda CRV's lug nuts are put on with 85 ft/lbs of torque and this Impact Wrench zipped them right off. My son's Volvo torques the lug nuts to 103 ft/lbs and the Impact Wrench zipped them right off as well. I don't expect to encounter anything over 103 ft/lbs, so this Impact Wrench works great for me. My corded no-name brand 1/2 inch Impact Wrench could not loosen the lug nuts on my son's Volvo. This Impact Wrench is heavy. It is a good bit heavier than my corded Impact Wrench. It is a lot heavier than Porter Cable's cordless Drill Driver and 1/4" Impact gun. It is also much larger than the Drill Driver and just fits into the bag that came with the Drill and Impact gun. If you plan to use it for long periods of time, get the 5 amp hour batteries. I have the 1.5 AH and 2.0 AH batteries and the Impact Wrench drains them pretty quick. I was able to rotate the tires on 1 vehicle with the 1.5 AH battery and that's just removing the lugs. I don't use the Impact Wrench to put lug nuts on. ... show more

Powerful enough for removing old, rusted bolts on a C-10 rebuild. But the clip on the socket drive makes it very hard to switch sockets. I ended up putting a socket adapter on there so I could switch socket much easier.

    • Pretty good but not for 330ft/lbs
When I purchased this item in early November, it was advertised for 180ft/lbs of torque. Now it says 330 for the same exact item. Seems like false advertising to me. Nonetheless, the impact wrench will handle anything in the 110 to 120 ft lbs range. Anything above that and the bolts won't come off and you'll be smelling that brush motor burning. I bought it to take off wheel and it works well for lug nuts. Way to big to fit anywhere else. Battery life is decent and enough to swap two cars from summer to winter tire/Rim combo without swapping the battery. ... show more

I am extremely pleased with the power of this impact gun ! I am a master mechanic, and use Porter Cable tools at work and home. They have plenty of power, and long battery life. I have amassed a rather comprehensive kit for myself - drill, 1/4" impact driver, 4" angle grinder, jigsaw, speaker, vacuum, and now this puppy ! I've always had problems getting the tires off of my Nissan Armada. They're huge, and a pain. This 1/2" impact had tons of power - ripped the lugs off like they were made of pudding ! Putting them back on, it tightened them sufficiently. I checked after with my lug wrench and I couldn't get any more out of them. Just plain awesome ! Porter Cable 20V Max are great tools at a great price point. Screw the other brands. These are more than adequate. I'll keep buying them, whatever they come out with. I'm now a loyal fan ! ... show more

    • It's a beast!
I have had this since 2017 and have changed tires on cars, trailers, ATVs and some other machinery. Also driving 6" and 8" 1/2 inch lag screws. I maintain my machinery so removing the lugs has never been an issue. Recently I was traveling to ND and stopped for coffee in a small town. When I came out a man came up to me and asked if I was from around there. I said no but asked what he needed. He had blown a tire on a horse trailer and couldn't loosen the lugs with a T bar even if he stood on it. All the repair shops in town was closed. I told him I had a cordless impact wrench and that I would see if it could break the lugs loose. They were really rusted on and we didn't have anything to spray on them to help loosen them (could have walked to the convenience store I guess). Long story short - it took off all the lugs - no problem. We jacked it up and we had the tire changed and he was on his way in 20 minutes. He thanked me and he said "I've got to get one of those!" It may not have the power of my high end pneumatic but I haven't found anything yet that it won't handle. ... show more

    • This is a work horse, loads of torque that doesn't decrease as battery charge runs low.
I have no regrets going with this excellent tool, it has more torque than my Snap-on air powered Impact wrench and no air hose thats a pain to deal with. I run mine with the 4 amp Lithium-Ion batteries and cant believe how long I can go between charges, and get 100% torque that doesn't decrease as battery charge runs low. Batteries have excellent under load life and charged shelf life. Update: After 2 years in service this tool still works like new, its a solid powerful cordless tool made to take daily use. The resin plastic case has survived a number of falls off the car lift to the cement floor. ... show more
