  • Better Then I Had A Right To Expect.
I've been putting this player through more hard use then most folks would and am happy to report it's stood up to everything I ask of it with sound quality and volume that I'd hoped for but really didn't fully expect at this price. I am learning to play guitar and this device has been the my most valuable tool. I easily record to tape, from a CD selection. This way, when I'm attempting to learn the notes, I can replay any part over and over without having to play the entire recording to the part I need, like a CD would require. This entails literally hammering the play, rewind, record, etc keys repeatedly. Same with the CD when I use it, play, back track, play, repeat. No issues have surfaced. The 2.5 watts per channel is far more power then three others (roughly in this price range) I've owned, provided. The sound reproduction is superior to those as well, better still with the bass boost on. BTW, as on all machines I know of with a CD and tape player, there is no master on/off switch because switching the master switch to tape player and not turning the individual tape player controls on, is off. This portable player is not going to replace my home theater, it is not quite the sound quality of my friends Sony either but it doesn't cost nearly as much and I consider it a great value and perfect for my needs. The sound is reasonably low distortion even to moderately higher levels and loud enough to hear throughout my modest sized home. At about 17-1/2” wide, it's large enough without being too big to transport to band practice as well.I am very happy with this purchace. ... show more

  • Great sound and quality
Absolutely love this boom box. I needed a good old fashioned inexpensive boom box for out in our barn. Well I still need one for the barn because I kept this one for in the house. i It exceeded my expectations. CD player cassette player radio and aux can play from your phone too. Great sound. Love it. Gotta buy another one! ... show more

  • Item need a audio out jack.
Easy to use. Good sound quality. The end user was not happy that the item does not have a output jack. He lives in senior citizen apartment complex and is a night owl who uses headphones at night so as not to disturb his neighbors

  • After 27 years
Our old boombox of 27 years finally died. So we ordered this one. Its perfect size for the garage. It was described perfectly by the seller. Sounds great. The only thing we needed to do was extend the antenna for better reception. Other than that hubby is pleased with it. Arrived perfectly and packaged well ... show more

  • THIS PRODUCT IS DEFECTIVE IN PROPERLY PLAYING CASSETTES AND WILL NOT PLAY REGULAR CD'S
My review of this product should not reflect upon Amazon except that they are selling a distinctly inferior product. I had purchased this product because I had also bought a set of old time radio programs. These programs are on cassettes and the NAXA Electronic machine was supposed to play cassettes. The play button would not stay in long enough the play one of the old time radio programs - it would pop out after only a short time no matter how hard I pushed the play button. I called Amazon and Amazon nicely sent another NAXA set and this one was somewhat better on playing the cassettes except that the rewind button did not take the cassettes to the beginning of the tape. I had also purchased another set of old time radio programs on CD's. However, the NAXA machine would not play the CD's! I have a small CD player and it plays the old time radio programs just fine and it also plays every other CD's I have including The War of the Worlds recently purchased through Amazon. So I I have two NAXA electronic sets and one is completely defective on playing cassettes and the second one is sometimes defective on rewinding the cassettes. Also, neither one will play common, ordinary CD's! I ordered this product thinking it would play both cassettes and CD's and this product will effectively play neither. The only feature that works properly is the FM radio and that isn't good enough to give this product a positive rating. ... show more

  • MEH
Poor reception, I needed to extend the antenna with an alligator clip and 3 feet of wire. Tuning is slow, meaning that, to go from one end of the dial to the other seems to take way too many turns. Other than that, it's OK.

  • Perfect for anyone who travels
I fail to see how anyone could complain about this product giving us a CD player, a tape cassette player, a radio, and stereo speakers, for less than $75. I live (and cruise) on a boat so the maximum sound output is perfectly adequate. Certainly the tape cassette control buttons are rather small - but they work OK. The 12 volt option enables me to take the unit to beach party - and monitor a weather report. What I don't know of course is how long the player will last before breakdown - especially on a boat which tends to have a higher humidity than you folks living ashore. (Any electronic device doesn't much like high humidity or salt water). If I get two years operation out of it I would be pleased - and promptly buy another! In the meantime I can enjoy my old tape cassettes and CD's I made in the days when we could easily do such things. Hard to beat the sound of bongos and Caribbean music, gazing at yet another gorgeous sunset while sipping a Tanqueray and Tonic with lot's of ice. You should try that sometime. ... show more

  • Nothing modern about this boombox. You are right back in the 70's with this one.
I love this boom box. The sound is great. It is very retro with a dial instead of digital presets for the radio. It plays tapes and CD's .
