Nice mat. No smell at all. Good cushion on hardwood floor for stretching and floor exercises. It's firm enough to be very supportive, but soft enough that there's NO painful pressure on my bony joints. So much easy to fold/unfold than roll-up type of mat and much thicker. I think the mat is fine for a child to take a nap on, but adults may prefer a softer layer (such as memory foam) on top if you decide to sleep on it. The foam has little give so it won't caress your body's curvature much. That said it does provides enough cushion under my skinny knees, hips and back when exercising. Previously I tried to use a traditional yoga mat on my hardwood floor and it was so painful I couldn't repeat it again. Unlike those textured thin yoga mat this mat is relatively slippery on the surface so you can't do much w/ socks on. It is however very easy to wipe clean.

I bought this folding mat for my husband who exercises a lot and likes to help others develop an exercise program. The mat works very well for both uses, is a good size, and is sturdy but soft enough to provide cushioning.
