When everything shut down for Covid, I was glad that we had equipment at home to continue our workouts. The shutdown did force me to acknowledge the weak areas in our home gym. While we had weights and cardio covered, we didn't have a good surface that was conducive to stretching and practicing BJJ techniques when we couldn't go to class. I set out to find a solution that would produce an acceptable surface on a concrete basement floor. I looked at many alternatives and had settled on a huge supplier of MMA mats. The one I honed in on would roll up out of the way when not in use. I started looking for the least expensive place to purchase the mats and landed at Amazon. What I found is that those mats are significantly more expensive for less coverage and that they never go on sale. Since I was shopping Amazon at this point I looked for alternatives and found these. After reading the reviews I ended up ordering 3 mats, which gave us a 10x12 area for about $250 less that what I had been shopping for. These mats seem very sturdy and easily fold out of the way. The velcro appears to be strong enough to hold the mats tightly together while we roll around on them and I don't think we will take them apart often enough to have this wear out. The padding is also thick enough so we do not have any issues using these directly on an epoxy coated concrete floor. The vinyl seems thick enough to be good for the long haul as well. In the end, we will use these several times a week for a little practice but the commercial mats that are more expensive were probably overkill. These mats came with a 2 year warranty so while I don't anticipate any issues with them, I will probably just replace them if something happens to them down the road. These are probably the best value out there in folding gym mats and they are working great for why we bought them so far. ... show more

Durable, Cushioned, and Perfect for Home Fitness The BalanceFrom folding gymnastics mat has been one of the most versatile additions to my home workout setup. At 4' x 10' with a full 2" of high-density foam, it provides the right balance of cushioning and firmness. It absorbs impact well during tumbling, martial arts, or kettlebell workouts, yet stays supportive enough for yoga, stretching, or Pilates. The foldable 4-panel design makes it practical to store away when not in use, and the built-in handles are sturdy enough to carry it without fuss. I also appreciate the Velcro strips along the edges, which allow you to connect multiple mats—great if you want to expand your training area. The vinyl surface wipes clean quickly with a damp cloth, and after months of use, mine still looks new without any rips or sagging spots. This mat is not lightweight (about 15 pounds), but that’s also what makes it feel solid and secure on the floor. It doesn’t slide around even during more dynamic movements. Some users mention a slight odor when new, but mine aired out within a day. Bottom line: A well-made, affordable training mat that works equally well for kids’ gymnastics, adult fitness routines, or martial arts practice. Great mat! We purchased one and a soon as we received it, we turned around a purchased another. It's perfect for practicing jiu-jitsu or tumbling at home. It's made of quality material.     • Amazing, but smells like an ash tray

The quality of the mat for its primary purpose is 5 stars. It is just firm enough to ensure you can easily run and jump on it without losing control in the squish. It’s also just soft enough to cushion a fall. The size is great for our needs. I can fold it once or twice and put it under our wall ladder for the littles when they practice climbing the ladder. I can unroll it in my mini gym area just outside of the toddler bedrooms and do a morning kettle bell workout without a loud landing on the last set when I am tired and still have to set the bell down. I love that. The only reason I rated it 4 stars is because of the smell. It’s not your average synthetic material smell. It smelled remarkably like a used ash tray, so much so that I checked for signs that I had been mistakenly sent a used product. I don’t think I was. I’m hoping opening it and airing it out will help. That would be much preferred to us simply getting used to it and not knowing that our house smells like an ash tray when people visit. I might have to ask people when they come, because that would be a deal breaker for me. Fingers crossed! I’m optimistic it will go away. I’ll update the review, if I think of it later. ... show more

Super durable, lightweight and easy to store, kids love it. Only thing I don’t love about it is the Velcro on the bottom and the Velcro flaps … they are to allow multiple pads to attach to each other but we will only ever have one as we are using it in the living room. So they just collect floor gross. Apart from that, my boys love a place to wrestle and tumble that’s not hard wood floor. ... show more
