  • Greatest Pokemon remakes ever?
Platform For Display: Nintendo 3DS Edition: Omega Ruby
Pokemon Omega Ruby, along with Alpha Sapphire, are the perfect examples of how to modernize a classic game without killing most of what made it so good. Better gameflow, pacing, and features help make these special remakes worth playing for Pokemon fans! Here is a summary of the pros (+) and cons (-): + Beautiful and colorful graphics, even for the relatively weak hardware of the 2DS/3DS. Texture quality on NPCs is a bit pixelated, but it looks surprisingly good all around. A very pleasant color palette, with some lovely shading and lighting. Pokemon are full of life, personality, and have unique animations. Yes, even older generation Pokemon have their own beautiful 3D models and unique animations! + Hours upon hours of Pokecontent! You can travel around and collect berries, then feed Pokeblocks to your Pokemon so they can be ready for contests. Or, you can go classic trainer mode and train up your Pokemon by having rematches with NPC trainers or battle wild Pokemon. Heck, you can have fun with minigames and shower your Pokemon with love in Pokemon-amie, a wonderful feature where you can truly experience the unique personalities of your Pokemon. If you are feeling like stompin' some suckers, you can go online and challenge other trainers to Pokemon battles. But, you can simply go full on classic mode and ignore all of that to explore the world, collecting those Gym Badges to be the best trainer you can be! Gotta catch 'em all! + Training Pokemon is easier than ever! You can activate an item that causes all party Pokemon to gain the same amount of experience points, no matter which Pokemon is at the front of your party. If you're like me and prefer classic training methods, you can simply turn this item off. But, please be aware that the game will be harder once you do that, and it will be more difficult to keep your Pokemon nicely trained. - These games aren't as challenging as the classic games. I played Pokemon Emerald (which is classic Ruby and Sapphire combined), and I swear to god that the Gym Leaders had way more Pokemon at their disposal rather than 2, 3, or 4! Some trainer battles ARE pretty challenging, and some Gym Leaders will give you trouble, but I found this game to be a bit on the easy side. Please note, I said "a bit"! - Framerate issues will sometimes happen in battle. This is definitely a sign of the relatively weak hardware. It's still impressive what Nintendo, and the Pokemon Company, are able to squeeze out of this particular handheld console. - It's pretty easy to get lost if you're zoning out and not paying attention to the clues the game gives you. Otherwise, the game does a solid job leading you on the correct path. - Too many abilities feel outright useless and not needed, especially if you care about hitting enemies at their weakpoints. This is highly debatable, especially for pro Pokemon players who use status altering abilities more. - A weird connection glitch occurs if you are connected to the Internet in the game, and then decide to take a break by either putting your 2DS/3DS to sleep, or pressing the home button. When you get back into the game, you will experience a random disconnection from the Internet. ... show more

  • World Edition Doesn't Matter
Platform For Display: Nintendo 3DS Edition: Omega Ruby
I received a sealed world edition with a US copy inside and the game is working just fine. Check the cartridge inside before you think about returning. I lost my original Omega Ruby from when it first came out unfortunately and wanted a replacement. I still have my original Alpha Sapphire and haven't noticed any differences, obviously aside from Team Magma/Aqua, etc. If you really want a case without the world edition logo, I'm sure you can find an empty case to buy. I'll update this once I complete the main story. Best part is this arrived early, so anyone looking to purchase this before the holidays shouldn't worry. ... show more

  • Even though it isn't the best Pokemon game, that doesn't mean at all that it's a bad game.
Platform For Display: Nintendo 3DS Edition: Omega Ruby
Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are amazing games, like all main-series Pokemon games. In fact, Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are the two games I spent the most time playing on my Nintendo 3DS; over 280 hours total! That just shows how much of a great game this is. STORY: As you start your journey, you get a Pokemon from this game's professor; Professor Birch gives you a Pokemon, and you go on your way. Eventually, you encounter Team Magma/Team Aqua and have to stop them from destroying the Hoenn Region. At the same time, you collect all 8 gym badges and eventually become the Hoenn Pokemon League Champion. Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have almost the same exact story as the games they were remade form; Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire...until you get to the Delta Episode. The story is certainly more lighthearted than Pokemon Black and White or Black 2 and White 2, but it is a remake, and one that does not have such a dark story. GAMEPLAY: The most important part of all Pokemon games is the gameplay. That's a no-brainer. However, most, if not all Pokemon games have very consistent battle systems, with only new moves/types or certain moves being slightly altered. It's a good thing that it remains the same, actually, so that you don't have to get used to an all-new battle system. CONTENT: This game, unfortunately, doesn't have the largest amount of content. Once you beat the main game, you are treated to the Delta Episode, basically the part of Pokemon Emerald that wasn't the exact same as Ruby and Sapphire, which includes battling and capturing both Rayquaza and Deoxys! But after you do that, you catch a few more legendaries, and that's it. If you're up to it, you could complete the Pokedex, which takes a lot of time and patience due to there being more than 700 Pokemon to acquire for the Pokedex. REPLAYABILITY: This game has A TON of replayability. You have almost the whole arsenal of the whole entire region of Hoenn to create the team of your choice. But that's not all, after you beat the game, you can catch some of the Pokemon from other regions, without having to transfer them from the previous generation games, which is pretty cool, as only a few other Pokemon games did this. CONCLUSION: Overall, this game gets a 4.5 stars out of 5. This game is great fun, like any other main-series Pokemon gamer. You really can't go wrong with any game in the series, and this wouldn't be a bad choice! ... show more
