  • 4.0 out of 5 stars A great RPG for all ages.
I've played all the way through this game and unlocked almost all of it's secrets, but as usual I'm here to clear up the rumors and give you the plain and simple truth. Back in 1999, I played a pokemon game for the first time, that game was "Pokemon blue version" for all of you who didnt already know, "Pokemon leaf green version" is a remake of that title. Of course, it's had quite a few upgrades, but I'll cover that later. Here's the part where I tell you the truths and lies about this game. Firstly, it's true that the legendary pokemon "Deoxys" is in this game, but dont get too excited yet. You cant get to Deoxys unless you've gone to a Nintendo event and had an item called the Aurora ticket uploaded into your game. It's also true that Lugia & Ho-oh are in the game, but they're just like Deoxys... You need a special item to get them too. Now for the lies... Sorry, but you cannot visit Johto or any other region besides Kanto. Also, the pokemon known as Mew & Celebi are not included in the game. This is a great game for all ages, especially RPG maniacs like myself! Do you like games like "Final Fantasy" & "Golden Sun"? Well then, you'll like this game. Good points: Upgraded graphics, more pokemon to catch, an all new set of areas to explore, new attacks to use, pokemon special ablities exsist, (just like in Pokemon Ruby) and the legendary cat pokemon are in this game. Bad points: Although the music has been remixed, it lacks the old-school charm that it once had, there are no pokemon contests in the game, you cannot visit the lands of Johto, Orre, or Hoenn within the game, your rival has been remade and now he looks like a total geek, it never changes from day to night, and lastly... You cannot grow berries in this game. Oh, and one more thing that really urks me... In Pokemon crystal version the pokemon's sprite (image) was animated, and it would move around just like in the 3-D pokemon games, but for some stupid reason... That amazing inovation hasnt been used in any of the newer pokemon games, including this one! Written by: ShadowMage (The game maniac) ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Your milage may vary.
I ordered from ONE SHOT ENTERPRISES LLC, the order arrived quickly, but without the box or manuals/ the (non standard) Braille chart, it came in a dust case. With these listings, you never know what you're getting, but I can say that I received a legit US English Rev-1.1 copy (99% of bootlegs are the 1.0 version) How to easily tell it's legit (without opening the shell): migration to Gen 4 works! A thank you to the previous owner of the game cart, named STOEBS. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars The Power of Nostalgia
I am a child of the nineties. This must be distinctly understood. The downside was I wasn't allowed to have video games outside of what I could play on my computer until I was in junior high, so I missed the boat on the original Red and Blue version Pokemon games. I'd dabbled in playing borrowed versions before, but I never felt invested enough in the game to keep playing. And then one of my friends told me they remade the original games for the Gameboy Advance. Thank the gods for that. With the updated graphics, added gameplay mechanics, and overall tweaking, Gameshark took what was already a solid game that millions of people loved and reintroduced it to a new group of kids as well as some of us college students who want to take a trip down memory lane. Even without having played through the original games, it felt like reliving my childhood getting to play LeafGreen from picking my starter Pokemon to barreling through Pidgey's in the tall grass. It's still a Pokemon game, though, and there'll be plenty of mindless grinding for the Elite Four and annoying battles if you have some mismatched types. You also have to worry about getting the right badges before your pokemon team levels up past the point where you can control them. And lets not even talk about zubats. I'd be lying if I said all these things didn't chip away at a game that would normally make my top five list of video games period, but I'd also be lying if I said it wasn't still a great handheld game and the only JRPG you could ever get me to play through for more than ten minutes. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Worked after a good cleaning!
I can confirm my copy is a legitimate version of leafgreen.... However getting it to work was a bit harder than I first thought. The game had a thick layer of dust on the pins that kept it from running 75% of the time. Lucky for me I had a tri head screwdriver so I was able to clean it with isopropyl 91% and it's worked fine since. But that screwdriver isn't exactly common. Just know when you buy older games (especially from Nintendo) you may need specialized tools to ensure the best results. ... show more

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars Favorite Pokemon Version
I've only played up to Emerald, that's about it, but this has to be my favorite version of all time. Leaf Green is the best of both worlds, it takes you back to where it all started with Blue and Red. It has the better graphics, access to new islands and the VS seeker, my favorite item ever. I like the original story from these games and I'm so glad that they were able to remake it into better graphics. I like how they added the islands where you're able to get new generation pokemon. I like how the Elite Four gets new generation pokemon after you visit the islands. VS Seeker is by far my best and most favorite item for two reasons, #1 its a fantastic way to level up your pokemon. #2 is a great way to make money. In Island 5 there are two trainers that give you up to $20,000.00 per battle, if you have the Coin Amulet. Not only are you getting pretty good experience points but you're also getting loads amount of cash. I was able to level up a couple pokemon while gaining the max $999,999.00 so after this I went and spent the money like never before, within the game, of course. I don't know, this game is just awesome. I wish they could release the original Yellow Version in a new graphics version. With the added features that this game has plus what the new generations are offering. ... show more

  • 4.0 out of 5 stars Great addition to my collection
The reason for a 4 star is because it came in a day late, not other than that it looks and feels authentic and runs great. Shout out to Bennet who ran through the indigo League with a Mr Mime and a Lapras
